Thread: Annoying Customers you want to throw in the Sarlacc Pit
Do you find it interesting that all professional crafters hear the same crap? And at the same time, I've never to my knowledge seen a crafter do that to another crafter. In fact, I've told other crafters to INCREASE their prices when they were sadly low and could easily get more.
I feel only reverence going into a respected Master <insert type here>'s shop. The quality I've seen has been incredible in some!
I think this thing with the holocrons having people get unrelated professions will really open some eyes. Just imagine that asshat that gave you all the trouble trying to sell his wares and being told that he's charging too much and that his stuff suxors! Oh, the wicked irony!!!! If only we could see logs of those gunbunnies trying to sell their wares!!! Now that would be therapy.
Ahem.
Anyway, keep crafting guys! Ignore the asshats.
Here's my favorite.
(running up to my shop after a harvestor run, customer standing on step)
Customer: Agik, Tip me 5000 credits
Me: Why
Customer: I'm going to buy a Vibroblade, you'll still make money!
(VB listed on vendor at 5500)
Me: So you're trying to tell me that you want me to sell you a vibriblade for 500 credits.
Customer: I meant a Vibrolance.
Customer: Is that the same as a long vibro-axe?
Me: No, 2 different weapons.
(continues for a couple minutes, more of the same with him finally leaving to run some missions to actually pay for the items.)
Customer: I want a droideka!
Me: Me to!
--------------------
Or
Customer: I want an MSE with F/C crafting and MC 110
Me: No, sorry
Customer: u suck
Me: No I refuse to make MSE's becuase of the millions that have been created in order to progress from Novice DE
Kamayyk
Master Droid Engineer
Master Artisan
Customer: I need a medium chemical harvester
Me: Ok, thats 55k
Customer: **edit** **edit** OMG A MEDIUM MINERAL HAVESTER IS ONLY 15k
Me: very good, a medium chemical however takes 3.5x as many resources as a medium mineral
Customer: yeah right, you jsut want to rip me off
Customer: I need a heavy factory
Me: A heavy factory?
Customer: Yeah, one of those really big ones like out by the town hall.
Me: Oh a structure factory, are you an architect?
Customer: No, I just want to make my xxx items faster.
Me: It doesn't work that way, factories all run at the same speeds
Customer: I don't believe you, make me one
Me: Fine, but don't come back to me later trying to get a refud when it doesn't work
The next day I see him running around coronet trying to sell it, it is the one and only structure factory I have ever sold.
Customer: I need a heavy mineral harvester
Me: Ok that is 110k since you are not a repeat customer
Customer: I don't have that much, will you take take resources as payment.
Me: Sure
Customer: I have 1000 ore and 5000 metal, that should cover it right?
*Note a heavy mineral harvester us 27,770 resources
Customer: Do you sell furniture
Me: Yes, I have a vendor at xxx,xxx near coronet.
*wait 20 minutes*
Customer: You dont have any rugs. (rugs?)
Me: Architects can't make rugs. they don't exist as a craftable item
Customer: *profanity* I don't believe you, my friend can make them and sells them for xxx credits
Me: ......
And of course we can't forget:
Customer: I need xxx item.
Me: ok, that will be yyy credits.
Customer: what a ripoff, if you dont sell it at (obscenely low price) I will take my credits elsewhere
Me: Ok fine, cya
Customer: Whatever happened to the customer is always right? I can get it for (obscenely low price) from another guy, you have to lower your price to compete, don't you want my business?
Me: Sorry, I live in the real world where customers are stupid, obnoxious, demanding, overbudening, egotistic, and cheap.
Last I heard he was trying to convince an architect friend of mine to sell him xxx at (obscenely low price)
The guy selling it for cheaper or the guy who can make the uncraftable item (like a melee weapon that uses Kryat tissue) is never online when this conversation goes on. The answer to my question (always the same) " well then why aren't you buying from him? " is always "he isn't on and I want it right now".. That guy is NEVER on..oh.. but thats the point isn't it? He was never real to begin with heh.
It happened again, and it wasn't in my original, so I thought I'd post. Bear in mind, this is not embellished, this is the actual conversation.
"usell armor?"
- Yes. Thanks for asking. I just e-mailed you a waypoint to the shop. The vendors there are fully stocked.
"what %?"
- depends on the armor. There are several sets of different types and qualities there.
"what % though?"
As if I have memorized a dozen stats on about 100 of over 1000 items in stock. I just can't believe it sometimes.
My personal favorite is the guy that wanted to know if he game me all the materials to make one if I would build him a PA hall. I said yes but thatI woud still charge him for the time it would take me to make all the componenets and such.
He went off on a rant saying that I was an architect and that I built stuff for fun and why should be pay a dime for me to have my own fun. This went on for quite a while and finally I told him sorry I have some real customers to attend too.
An hour later ( and I assume conversations with several other architects ) he came back and agreed to pay me 75k to build him a PA hall that he suppled the materials for, but that he thought he was getting ripped off.
He proceded to give me materials, aobut 4k of ore, maybe2 k of metals in small and different type lots and a few odd components I have never seen before, I think some of it was junk loot.
He said I could make up the difference with the 75 K he was going to give me.
Needless to say I walked away.
This one I was going to put in the tailor forum, but what the heck, I'll put it here.
I'm a Master Tailor and I was in a camp making a customer some clothes. (I usually don't do this, but I was bored.) When another person just happened upon the camp (in the middle of nowhere, mind you) and asked if I could, "make cloths" (Please note, it's not actual quotes, but close enough)
Customer: Canu make cloths?
Me: What kind? Synthetic? Reinforced? (I know that they probably meant clothes but are too lazy to actually spell it out. I just hate that question. Of course I can make clothes, hence the Master Tailor tag floating over my head. And does it really hurt people to put an "e" in clothes?)
Customer: ???? I want a new pair of camo pants. I don't like these they make me look gay.
Me: Oh! CLOTHES. Okay, what colors are you looking for?
Customer: I want all black. I want to look kewl.
Me: Okay, just a few moments.
(I make the camo pants, in black.![]()
Me: Okay, it's done. The total will be 800 credits. (I believe that's a good price. None of my customers have ever complained. Until now....)
Customer: 800? that's so expensive. they don't even do anything!
Me: That's my price.
Customer:I'll trade u my old pants and give you 100 credits.
(Why not, I NEVER trade in, but I was in a good mood)
Me: Did I make those pants?
Customer: No
Me: Why would I want pants I didn't make?
Customer: They're the same pants!I'm not paying 800 credits for a second pair of pants!
Me: Why don't you go to the tailor that made the first pair of pants? Maybe they'll give you the discount you're looking for?
Customer: He's not on. And I want them now!
Me: Well I'm sorry. I don't negotiate my prices, they are low enough as it is. Please find a new tailor.
Customer: Fine!
(And promptly leaves. I put the already made camo pants on my vendor where they are sold in a few hours by....the same guy! who also bought a bunchof other stuff)
I've been lucky in my career not to have too many annoying customers. (Save a few with the "can u make cloths?" question and the "Just make me look kewl" request (that btw means black))
I love this thread. Keep it going it helps us merchants and artisans vent our frustrations.
The most fun peple are those who can't be bothered to look at the vendor they want you to read everything to them before they come buy it. I usually end up telling them that they can just come look it doesn't cost anything to browse the vendor. The responses range from eye opening realization that they can do this themselves (duh) to complete shock that I'm not spending my entire game time supporting their laziness.
i like these conversations:
C "Can you sell me your best pistol?"
Me "Which one?"
C "your best"
I think, hmmm should i explain there are 14 types and some are profession specific? Nahhhh
m "Sorry, can only sell my worst one until SOE fixes the best pistol bug"
they usually don't say anything more after that.
When I first became Novice Droid Engineer I was selling MSE droids for advertising in Bestine. But I had a guy come up and say:
customer: Can you make me a Medical Droid?
Me: Sry, I'm not high enough in the DE skill trees
customer: Do you know anyone who does?
Me: yes, his name is [player name], i just sent you an email w/ his shop's WP
customer: i went there but he doesn't have any, do you know anyone else?
(by this time i wanted him to go away so i could continue trying to sell some droids and things)
Me: well that's all i know about
customer: ok, i [gives me a ten minute speech on why he needs the medical droid and how [player name] doesn't have any at his vendor]
(evidently a guy who had just purchased a Rock Beetle pet from me was standing there watching me go through this torture... after the customer's speech he spoke up saying he had a medical droid for sale he bought from the DE i referred this guy to... argh!)
I also REALLY like it when people tell you that your thriving pet business charges too much for pets and I should lower the price by 5k...
Lucky me I've never had any complete moronic customers
