Due to this bug, I pulled everything from my vendor last night and relisted it from the stockroom to trigger the 7-day sale with email notification when it drops to the stockroom. I later saw the announcements about the hotfix and the resetting of all vendor item timers to 30 days that was scheduled for this morning.

In checking my vendor tonight after the hotfix, I find that on the first page 84 out of 100 items are showing 5 days remaining rather than 29 or so. It was my understanding that the hotfix was supposed to reset all existing items on the vendor to 30 days. Was I mistaken and do I need to relist all of these items again to trigger the 30-day sale? The hotfix appeared to affect some of the items since they were all at 6 days + last night and some now show 29. Just not all. Not even most.

All of mine got reset. I'm not sure why not all of yours did. You might try withdrawing one and reselling it to see if it gets set to 30 days.

And btw folks the report I got from Vandessa was from Test Center. Your results may vary. I am in no way promising that you will get stuff returned from months ago. I merely reported what happened on Test Center. They may refine the restoration process for live. I have no way of knowing.

I got a CSR response to the ticket I filed. In the end I think I lost about 95 crates of spice (which could have been alot worse, seeing's how I run a medical shop). CSR asked me for the specific ingredients to remake the spice I lost, and quantities. I replied with quantity and class, then gave example - with spice, doesnt really matter what you use).. so for me at least, sounds like they plan to give me resources instead of the crates I lost back.. which is kind of a bummer, I dropped the skill some time ago. Will wait and see what happens.

i really need more info.....

those that deleted their vendors and what not ..its a real shame....i have learned to sit back and wait for official responses before doing anything drastic...

my main concern is WHERE the items may (or may not) reappear...

should we make room in the for sale are or the stockroom...my concern i s being over the 250 item limit...

please keep us informed as to what steps we need to take

I'm trying to get an answer to that very question as to where the items are going to show up. I"ll let you know if I have any luck.

My guess would be its going to depend on how much time the dev team will be willing to allocate to returning the inadvertantly dested items in all the player vendors. If its a one shot deal performed by running something like one or more perl scripts through the dest log then the outcome for someone who deleted their vendor will probably be similar to what happens when the recipient of a bank transfer is not online. You won't receive the lost items.

If they dedicate a bit more time to this, then they could acquire not only a list of deleted items from a player vendor, but the player name associated with the vendor as well. In the case where the vendor was deleted they would have a player name asociated with a list of deleted items and they'd have to do a follow up and contact the players on that list with an alternative method of returning the items.

They have choices on how they plan to do this and alot will depend on how they choose to do it. More information at this time would be nice. I guess we wait and see for now. One note, due to the size of the dest log and its rapid growth from this vendor bug, whatever type of script they do run through that file will take a long time to complete. It wouldn't surprise me that it might still be running come saturday morning.

Doc,

I haven't been affected by this bug myself, but if I had, my immediate questions would be:

  • will the hotfix affect sales currently posted, or should I withdraw and relist everything after the hotfix just to be safe.

  • will the hotfix affect items already on my vendor, or should I withdraw and retrieve, then relist, just to be safe.

I'm pretty sure that the restore operation will probably return the original crates to you. I think there was a period of time where the CSR's were handling these on a one at a time basis and they would have given you either credits or resources which is all they have the power to do. Once the devs finally got the clue that it was a HUGE issue (go Merchat Forum for keeping up the pressure with the truth!) they decided to actually do a database restore of deleted items.
