Thread: Vendor Hotfix for tomorrow 12/5/2003
Yes I have nothign but praise for the speed in which they fixed the issue and their plan for making it right. My only complaint is the lack of coherent communication about the issue to the player base as a whole.

So there's going to be a heap of players logging in to find a couple of thousand items in their inventory. This is going to be fun.... I bet they haven't coded the checks in for it and they'll run off the end of the arrays causing client crashes as a result.
I don't know and I caution you that the information I got may or may not be completely accurate and if it is it might be outdated already
My impression is that they have been working very hard on this resolution though.
Quick question. Will this change the items already listed or will all the items have to be pulled to inventory and relisted?
I'll probably pull and relist just to be safe.

The indication seems to be that they timers will be fixed retroactively. I haven't been able to log on and test this.
just as an FYI...
i had a CSR contact me in game regarding another ticket about messed up vendor sales...the guy was really great and spent a while invesitgating my claim...
While talking to him he said some things that showthat SOE does indeed have records of ALL of our items and sales and item deletions...
He was able to tell me that I had X # of pistols destroyed on X date...
It seems to me that they should be able to restore what ever we have lost...

Oh I never had any doubt they could restore the items. I just didn't know what plan they had for the vendor deletions and stuff. I'm not sure they have thought of everything but perhaps they have.

Well now if there were reimbursement for the fees paid to keep both the vendor and house.
Sort of like driving away from the scene of an accident..tough to present your case if you destroy part of the evidence.
The evidence is the witnesses. I.E. The data Logs. Should be all that is needed. I like the idea of items appearing in the stockroom but with a 250 cap there and some people lost much more that 250 items it is going to get interesting.
Since the house still exists I put a new vendor in the house. Not on the same spot nor with the same name just in case the script(s) recreated the vendor. I also made sure I can create 1 more vendor than I currently have so that chk code (if used) doesnt stumble. Anything else I can do to help I will.

My understanding now is that if the vendor is gone you will get the items in your inventory and I'm guessing you will have a temporary waiver on the 60 item limit until you get those items out ( but your inventory will be maxed if it is over 60 and you wont' be able to pick anything else up)
This based on several things I have been told by different people at SOE.
Ok some more information for you from Test Center which had the restoration code run on it tonight. The items you have had deleted should show up in a satchel in your inventory. Even if your vendor still exists the items will all show up in this satchel apparently. This will probably max out your inventory so You'll have to doeal with it first thing. You apparently might be in for a surprise because on TC at least the restore included things that were deleted a while ago. Not sure if it will be the same on live tomorrow or not.
Thanks to Vandessa (TC Correspondant) for that information.
WOW ----- you meaan i might get back all the stuff i lost months ago because of the undocumented deletion!
SOE gets a big hug too...they are actually acting like a real company now.
Due to this bug, I pulled everything from my vendor last night and relisted it from the stockroom to trigger the 7-day sale with email notification when it drops to the stockroom. I later saw the announcements about the hotfix and the resetting of all vendor item timers to 30 days that was scheduled for this morning.
In checking my vendor tonight after the hotfix, I find that on the first page 84 out of 100 items are showing 5 days remaining rather than 29 or so. It was my understanding that the hotfix was supposed to reset all existing items on the vendor to 30 days. Was I mistaken and do I need to relist all of these items again to trigger the 30-day sale? The hotfix appeared to affect some of the items since they were all at 6 days + last night and some now show 29. Just not all. Not even most.
