The problem is that they heard the outcry from the Creature Handlers....and ignored them.

As I said earlier, the outcry has been heard.
However (and this is strictly my opinion), I doubt we'll hear anything official before they've all had a chance to come back together on Monday and have meetings about it.

We support you, Elyssa. All you can do is present our side of the argument; unfortunately there is nothing you can do to make sure the Dev's *listen*.

Too bad there is little chance of organizing the entire Merchant Profession to *not* turn on this function, as it is described right now, when it comes live.

Who would've thought that there would be this much controversy surrounding the Merchant profession? Should be interesting times for the next few weeks as this progresses (or devolves).

1) QFE
2) See. I told you they were listening.
3) I am, however, surprised they're working on the weekend.

Dumb question time, and totally off-topic...What does QFE stand for?

As a Tailor and a Merchant here are some of my concerns (and yes they have all probably been said before, but the more voices the better, right?)

-Merchant XP: how is it gained now?

-New crafters: They'll never stand a chance competing galaxy-wide with the multimillionairs undercutting prices. This might not have much of an effect on Weaponsmiths or Armorsmiths, but will have a huge effect on Tailors where one Tailor's Hawtpants are pretty much the same as the next Tailor's.

-Shops: Why take pride in your shop? Why spend countless hours decorating, setting up vendors, dressing them just so? Why not just set up a vendor in a back room and throw everything on that one?

-Merchant Skills: Why bother going Master in merchant? This makes many boxes of Merchant obsolite, pointless. Why do I need to Register with Planetary Campaign? I can just set all my vendors to display galaxy wide!

-Player Cities: Why visit a player city now? I can just shop all their vendor's from the Theed Bazaar! Sure, Merchants can turn this off in the hope people will still come visit the shops, but if you have the option to shop from any city with a bazaar and have it delivered, why take the time and effort to travel to a vendor? This will also make the Politician profession pointless when tons of player cities die from lack of visitors.

-Customer Relations: Why visit with a crafter face to face? Crafters, no need to be polite and considerate of your customers - you'll never see them. We can all be vendor bots! or shoud that be vendor (singular)? I know a lot of crafter that take pride in serving their customers face to face, that take a lot of pride having repeat customers, beautiful shops, all the things that helped the crafter get their name out there - but that will all become useless. This makes crafting a SOLO thing, instead of a customer relations thing like it should be!

-Quitting Crafting: For those crafter that take pride in having customer relations, decorated well placed shops ... what's the incentive to make them stay when they just become a vendor-bot? What will make them take pride in their work when they are being undercut by people that arent in it for the fun of crafting, just looking for a few fast credits?

-WP: I like the idea of the Bazaar giving you a WP to a vendor that is guaranteed to have your item in stock. Maybe even placing a hold on the item for a period of time.

-Storage/Custom Orders: Yes, I know you are not SUPPOSED to use vendors for storage ... but it is done. how will items priced at 99999999 be handled? What about custom orders? Are crafters being forced to hand deliver these items? Or forced to set up a seperate vendor just so customers can be guaranteed their custom order will not be bought by someone else on the bazaar? This may cause MAJOR rearranging of vendors, especially those that are loaning out vendors to sell friend's/guildies wares.

In case i wasnt clear enough, my vote is NO!!

Well, I can't say that I am happy with this being pulled from testing. I was hoping that we would be able to see how this affected things instead of pure speculation. The dumping arguments have been very silly.I guess we will just continue to wait for the "perfect" solution that everyone seems to think willcome.

The dumping arguments seem pretty spurious to me because this doesn't reallyapply to dumping - it makes dumping easier only becuase it makes selling easier. We saw during thehologrinding age that those who master professions to pump out cheap products to market just don't maintain longevity in the market. All of those people who think the sky will fall are just kidding themselves, the only reason somebody woulddump long term on the market is because they are pissed at the game, not for monetary gain since by definition they are losing money with each sale. Hologrinding also taught us that these flash in the pan dumpers are not going to driveestablishedcrafters out of buisness.Secondly, all of those people saying "I've got blah blah blah resources from back in the day, enough to make millions of weapons to drive everyone out of buisness", its time to put up or shut up. You can drop all those weapons on your vendors RIGHT NOW and advertise the hell out of them with spam and trade forums and glut the market at 1cpu or less if you see fit. This change doesn't affect it. If what you say is true you can crash your servers market right now without this change - but the only reason to do it is if you are a jerk, same as if this goes in or not.

I was looking forward to the fact that my location handicap was going to go away. Most of my guildies didn't start crafting until this past spring when all the real estate in South coronet was locked up. We sell out of Rori. I was pretty excited that the other aspects of our organization - like quality and expense control - were going to go head to head with the price gouging in SCnet. I also feel that I run a good enough buisness that the idea that anybody could look at other vendors from mine was not threatening to me - I stand behind the price and quality of my products, having competitors easily availible will just show that I'm the best, and if I'm not on an item, i'll tip my hat to that merchant with the best of them.

I do think that this public outcry against the change should perpetrate an open conversation within the merchant community. We do not speak with a united voice, and ever since the skillpoint/vendor change a lot of us have been activly pushed to the sideline. This change has been defeated, but lets come together in the future weeks in the spirit of COMPROMISE. We need to find a way to make merchant and selling better that is not perfect, but is at least grudgingly acceptable to both sides of the merchant debate.

I fail to see the huge victory in items needing to be picked up? Yes we might get the impulsive buys (I say might because there might be a, "I'll check the galaxy search first" mentality after this goes live), but this still destroys the merchant profession.

And will cut the number of crafters down to only a "lot swapping/guild and friend back" few. This isn't only about the merchant profession, its about crafting and the economy in general.

I like that SWG has an economy, this will leave us with a glorified bazaar economy. It is being simplified into ebay with fixed prices, with one golden rule... he who already has the resources and backing is the top.

How could anyone start up in the weapon or armorsmith business with this system in place? Start ups charge more for less, or if the can charge less for less it does not matter... who buys a lesser product unless it is dirt cheap? You need some profits to be able to expand and eventually have the high grade resources, experience (not in the XP term), and for lots of crafting profs the 2 extra points of experimentation with CAs.

i hope they sort this out.
