Thread: Master Merchant why? Holo told me too...
I was going to attempt master merchant, but this post makes me think it will drive me insane.
Your not the only people that get stupid questions. Try being a smuggler for a day.

If they get the sameor higher number of questions they have my utmost sympathy.
Not trying to beat a dead horse, but these will make all of you feel better.

I stopped using my title because of people like these.
The smuggler forum isn't as bad as merchant for the holo-kids for the simple fact that holo grinders don't come in to the Smuggler Forum and tell us how much our profession sucks. They get upset by the same stuff we smugglers get upset by, but it's all and all a cool forum (the coolest of the lot if you ask me).
The problem in the merchant forum is that the hologrinders come in and slam the profession. That's rude. You're not a merchant. You're passing through. We don't need you to tell us how to make our profession faster to grind through. We don't WANT to grind through it. We want to PLAY it. And really, merchant is the EASIEST profession to level through because ALL you have to do is keep up your vendors and frigging wait. That's IT. And while you're waiting, go grind some other profession, perhaps one that would GIVE you something to actually SELL on your vendors. It's really not hard people. Set up the vendors and wait. You'll be master soon enough. You don't have to do ANYTHING else except pay the vendors. And while you're waiting you can grind some other profession that you might need for that fifth and unidentified profession.
And incidentally, I don't know WHY you guys even bother with holocrons. Even if they tell you four out of the five the fifth one is still pure luck and doesn't change the fact that you might have to master ALL of the professions to find it. I also can't fathom why all of you holo-grinders are in such a flamin' hurry to BE Jedi. It's not like the profession is going anywhere, and you're not having fun grinding the professions. Sigh. To each his own I guess. Just don't bring your BS to our forums. We've got guides. You have questions? Ask nicely and stop dogging us. You'll find us far more helpful.

I believe that was my point also. You knew that the jedi path would require mastering several randomly chosen and probably undesirable professions that you do not wish to pursue. This is the antithesis of good role-play. By even agreeing to such a path, you are announcing to the world "I am not a role-player. I am an power-gamer." That is why I do not give you guys a break because "it's SOE's design." It still makes you a shallow, power-leveling, ub3r-grinding, fool with no vision for your character beyond the next skill box.
When you get to the image design holocron, and the dancer holocron, and the chef holocron, and the tailor holocron, and the doctor holocron, you find the same people like myself in those forums also. People who pay $15 to actually play a profession because they enjoy it, as opposed to the "I'll play whatever profession leads me down the path to ub3r" holo-tourists. They don't appreciate the intrusion anymore that we do - go read those forums right now and see if it isn't so.
I play my profession because I have a vision for who my character is, and I enjoy playing her. Anyone who would blindly pursue random professions just to be a l33t jedi is beneath my contempt. If you come to these forums, read the guide, make an attempt to educate yourself by reading the forums. I won't flame you, but I won't help you either. The original poster came into my forum and began by stating "Does anyone xp merchant for fun? I cant see why. This is the most disturbing profession that I have been faced with yet." thank you so much for the insult - here's your flame, and I don't feel a bit guilty about it.
If the other 'true' merchants who browse this forum regularly do NOT feel exactly the same way. You'll see their posts below - flaming me. But don't count on it.
Faellyn,
I know that some times it is hard to interpret the intended 'voice' or 'tone' of a poster. I hope you understand that it was not my intention to in any way speak down to you in my original post. That is no longer the case.
I want to reiterate that I was appreciative of all the help that merchants have posted on this forum. I was asking that you try to be a little more understanding of people like myself who have no other choice but to master these professions. I even agreed with DocSavag's point, that holo-hunters should always look at the FAQ first before posting, so in that respect, the original poster should have done a little work first before taking up time and space in this forum (like I am doing right now).
It's unfortunatethat you are so contemptuous of me and people like me who try to open a FSCS. You are also incorrect, in that I don't have a 'vision for the character I want to play'. It is to play a Jedi. I think that these characters were really cool in the movies and I like the fun of playing a social MMORPG as opposed to playing a Jedi game solo, like Knights of the Old Republic.
After mastering this profession I will likely drop all the skills within 24 hours. It's simply not my style. But I don'tcall the people who continue to master this profession 'fools'. That would be (in my opinion) elitist and wrong. I still don't understand why you think you are justified in doing the same to people who decide to play this game to open a FSCS.

I don't fault you for it that is for sure. Part of me wishes that everyone would refuse to pursue the FSCS in this broken ridiculous manor that it is set up now which would force the Development team to reinvent the process. That isn't going to happen of course so I don't find fault with you doing it, but the whole process makes me grumpy becaues it is having a damaging effect on the game on many different levels.
I don't speak for Faellyn but I read the same frustration in her posts. She is transfering her distaste and anger over the process to the people who are taking part in it and "facilitating" its continued existance.
Faellyn, I love how you complain over the people bashing the merchant profession, and then you say:
"Fourth, anyone who would gring through random professions to be a jedi is an idiot! Yeah, it's the path that SOE designed, but it doesn't make you any less of an idiot for agreeing to do it."
**edit** hypocrites.
Mastering merchant (just the skill boxes, not being a good one!) is the easiest one to get in the whole game.
Get some mines, get a house, gets some venders........to dah!!!! If you do not wish to craft anything just sell the resources at a fair price.
I say hurl all the insults you can and start the flamethrower! I have nothing against people who follow their holos and want to become a jedi. What I have a problem with is the LAZY holo grinders that cant read! All the answers to the simple questions are in the other posts, so F'ing read!!!! These are the same grabasstic morons that ask where a restroom is when they are standing directly below the sign for the restrooms. They are too lazy to do their own research and just ask instead. So if you post a stupid question on these boards I will flame and keep flaming. For some reason flaming on the boards is uncool to the oversensitive masses but asking dumb questions goes unchecked.
To the one poster who said they read the forums when their holo said master merchant and actually admits that they found all the anwers I thank you. Thank you for being a polite and educated forum member. If you have any questions on nuances or special techniques that may help you get more visits to your vendors I would be glad to help.
To MasterTitas...piss off with your "this profession sucks" and your lazy "how do I get master in one day" comments! Serious answers not given.
