I'm pretty sure I know the answer to why items that are put up for sale, then removed to the stockroom will last more than 7 days. Remember when all of our stuff disappeared right off our vendors, when they still had two weeks left? This was right when the 30 day limit was added (well, two weeks later is when the stuff started disappearing...). The stuff was dropping off after two weeks because they had changed the amount of time before it's moved to the stock room (from 7 to 30), but never changed the amount of time before it's deleted (which was 14 days at the time). I think it's pretty clear that the amount of time it lasts in the stockroom is not 7 days after it goes to the stockroom, but 37 days after it was placed up for sale.

I also have to agree that managing your 300 items shouldn't have taken more than 30 minutes. I have over 2000 items, and it takes me only a few hours to relist all of that. Whenever stuff is about to drop, I pull everything to reset the timer on all of my items, so I don't have to drag it out for several days as they drop on their own. So, trust me, I know how long it takes. I'm a casual gamer, play maybe 2-3 times a week, a few hours at a time, and my 2000 items are easy enough for me to manage.

did you JUST realize the CSRs suck? i was scammed out of 400k (at the time it was a lot to me) and they did NOTHING to help me. basically what they said was that they saw nothing of what i reported in the customer ticket in my /report command. (i used both to make sure the a$$ got screwed over) so i'm like okay.. fine.. i'll find another way to mess up his experience... so i tell a friend of mine and she gets him kicked from his guild, banned from his city AND banned from a few other cities and merchant tents. i get a GMAIL saying he was very sorry he scammed me (just to get his rep back). so ONCE AGAIN, i reported him to the CSRs. (i kept the gmail he sent me) AND GUESS WHAT? "i'm sorry, we can not use gmails as evidence" what kind of bull is that? i evenheard aphonesupport CSRconversation with another player.the playerwas reporting a squad leader bug and the CSR put him on hold to ask if squad leader was actually a profession. it makes me wonder if those good for nothing, cheap ass, phony sony f***ers are hiring illegal immigrants (at lower than minimum wage)for CSRs.

What I don't get is why they have a vendor time of 30 days and a stockroom time of 7 days. The very least thing that ought to be done is to switch the two. Secondly, there should be an ITEM # cap instead of a time cap. It just makes more sense.

It used to be 7 and 7.. we got it changed to 30 and 7. They have told us item limits are coming.

Sorry to hear about your losing 300 items. But since I carry well over 1200 items each on 6 vendors, I would have to say that relisting just a few hundred items is really not that time-consuming. And being a casual player, it would seem to just be a matter of setting priorities. If you're going to be gone for several weeks, there are things you do in real-life to prepare for being gone. You empty out the refrigerator, make arrangements for mail, double-check that windows are closed and doors are locked. In SWG, you relist everything on vendors, and remove everything that is on the bazaar. You pull up harvesters, pay up all maintenance on structures and vendors.

You are trying to blame Sony (and lord knows they deserve a lot of the blame they get) for something that you know you should have taken care of, and you don't want to admit that you were wrong.

I was going to reply to the original post, but you pretty much responded word for word withexactly what I wanted to say. With a little planning I have managed to take vacations........and when I came back nothing burnt down whileI was gone:-)

So, ditto to above.

The fact that items are deleted after 7 days in the stock room comes as quite a shock to me- i've almost certainly lost a lot of stock
This is a very severe event and i'm surprised that there are no warnings (like in building decay) there's been nothing obvious in-game to indicate this to me, certainly after monthe of playing i don't notice every help message but i expect a very clear warning that MY item is going to be deleted completely from the game!!
I'd always assumed a stock room was just that, bit of a mis-nomer in my opinion.
Frankly i did find the CSR message sarcastic as it assumes the customer is aware of this deletion and suggests that he is using the stock-room to store items, quite accusatory actually and looks like a standard template.
Been hunting on Endor and haven't been home (tatooine) for ages, just let my stuff wait for me in the stock room (or so i thought).

There does seem to be a fair amount of inconsistency in this game. Seems like the overall software management was sadly lacking, and possibly there wasoutsourcing of some of the code.

Specifically, I'm speaking of the information, and lack of information, that we are given about this game. There are times in any game, where you want the players to "discover" the world with the excitement of not having any prior knowledge of something. There are times in any game, where you want to lead the players through an experience, because it is not intuitive or productive for them the "discover" the rules. SWG has a hard time distinguishing between these two times.

We have an overload of information when it comes to vendors, in the form of an email telling us that an auction is unsuccessful, when we have simply pulled an item (for whatever reason) from the vendor ourselves. I wonder how they can justify the plans for limiting vendor items, when the game itself is generating this vast quantity of useless emails all of the time. It shouldn't be that hard to suppress an email, when the vendor owner is standing in front of the vendor, deliberately pulling an item from being on sale. What necessitates sending us an email for something as obvious as that?

We have a definite lack of information when it comes to vendors, in that nobody really seems to know how long an item should stay in the stockroom. Depending on whom you talk to at Sony, the time varies between 24 hours and 7 days. Some people report that their items stay in the stockroom for 30 days. And why, for the love of god, do you call it a STOCKROOM!?!?!?!?!? Was there some fool with a Japanese-English dictionary who somehow translated "the room where stuff will be destroyed soon" into "stockroom?"

I repeat this again and again. Just because you make something tedious or difficult to understand, is not the same as giving us real game content. This game has great graphics . . . And a massive amount of potential . . . And great graphics . . . And great potential . . . Did I mention the great graphics?????? Why isn't there a crafter's path for the Imperial and Rebel Theme Parks? Why isn't there a crafter's cave, and real crafter content? Why isn't there a chance of discovering some rare item that helps me craft, when I'm going about the usual business of crafting or hand-sampling? It could be while experimenting with something, I suddenly discover that I'm holding a rare item in my hand. Or my vendor suddenly has an item in the storeroom (was hidden back behind some old boxes or something) that ties in with crafting, like a special sash that improves experimentation.

Did the dev's come up with all of the crafting line in an evening, while playing cards and drinking a lot of beer? Why not tie in crafting to the whole storyline? Wars do not make one great!! Combat should not be a necessity in this world, in order to have real game content and participation with the storyline.

Don't let the negative AFKophobes get you down. Play the game however you want.

Is the beta testing almost over for this game?

I had a similar problem and I sent a trouble ticket, and not only did I not get a reply, they deleted my open ticket.

I have had items stored in the stockroom for a long time, and I never had a problem with items deleting after 7 days until publish 7 went live. Then, poof, with no warning.

Anyone else notice this?

Well of course I noticed it LOL, I just keep putting in tickets until the CSR's either ban me ro do something about it. I make sure to tell them how worthless they are each ticket I put in, they deleted tow of my tickets as well lol.

I couldn't agree more with ladygrey we get a ton of emails about every little thing we do in a vendor, but the most important thing your items are about to get deleted we get no email about.

I too am fighting the SOE mafia that makes stupid, arbitrary rules while ignoring the realitiesa fo commerce.

My take is that customer service and fun were #22 and #23 on th e list of priorities for this game. I for one was looking forward to EQ2, but if this is how SOE handles customers...

new merchant here....didn't know about the 7 day cap...used my stockroom to replenish my stock (figured that was why it was called a stockroom) and POOF....600k worth of merchandise down the tube. Had I known, I would have removed them. HOWEVER, the only reason I know now is because it happened to me. It would have at least been nice to have recieved an email that warned me that SOE was about to screw me out of 600k worth of merchandise, similar to how lot decay is handled. Perhaps some sort of pop-up that tells you you have 7 days to store the item or it goes away...an email warning you that your hard earned creds are about to go poof...and some sort of grace period so that days of hard work doesn't become a money sink for the devs.

actually i sent a ticket to a CSR about not being able to go covert, and the response was the CSR's conversation withsome other kid and asking him if his problem with going covert was fixed, when that kid never HAD a problem going covert! THEN at the bottom he decided to write "Problem solved"
