Your vendor gives you Business Experience.

Crafting (and if the UXP gods are kind to you, selling) items gives you General Crafting Experience.

You could very easily be maxed out on Business Experience and it won't make a lick of difference to your Business IV box because it uses General Crafting Experience. That probably explains why you aren't seeing that box go up.

However, if you ever pursue the Merchant profession, you'll find that Business Experience is where it's at.

Hrm - ok, I get this, but wouldn't my building/crafting frenzy as an Architect push it up then? I'm almost a Master in that (3/3/4/4).

Now the person who talked about how you only get XP for your vendor when someone walks in, that makes sense, except I think you only get credit for the hour the customer was around the vendor. It doesn't accumulate. How many points does it take to fill the Biz IV box? Was it 6000? (Can't recall, I'm sleepy! lol) And I've been sitting at 1000 to 1300 for three weeks, while making all sorts of things as an architect - and no, it doesn't go up and down when I train the architect skills.

Gah and yes, I love the UXP. I used to get alot of it (used to)- don't know if people have stopped using the tools I made in past or what. I can't seem to sell them any long though - its like the market in Valcyn has disappeared for survey tools and crafting tools.

I will try this! Thank you for explaining the different types of XP. When you're still a noob you tend to think crafting xp is crafting xp when you create something. lol

When you're looking at the skill trees in game and you select a box, it'll tell you exactly what type of XP you need to get that box, and how much of that type you currently have.

You do not get XP for bazaar sales. You get 150 xp per hour per vendor you get up. You get 50 xp per person who lookst at your vendors (10 minute limit for each indvidual) and 50 xp for someone paying the access fee for a structure you own.

now i've read the whole thread, so what you're saying is - as long as there is someone in the room to load it (and then walk out)i will still get the xp, even though there is no one in there?

Your other option is to do what I have done.

My shop is situated in a place in town where people pass by it a lot. Actually, 3 of them are and there is another one right in a tent by our shuttleport. People pass by these structures and my vendors chirp at them "we have fine foods" "welcome to town" etc and that puts the vendor in the world and keeps it there for a good while.

If your shop is not near a heavy traffic area, see if someone will let you place a "greeter" in their shop so you can get exp. Basically, a vendor named "Greeter - Not Stocked" or similar that will sit there and welcome people as they enter a more heavily visited shop. If you sell something that other shop does not, they may even let you have it be an offshoot vendor and you can stock it and get both shops a little extra exp.
