Greets ...

A) You are not going to be able to be a crafter and a combat character ... not if you wish to be good at both.

B) They are fixing the "merchant droppers" ... and that fixes an "exploit" ... doesn't fix the next issue.

C) They are trying to combat monopolies and allow lessor crafters to break into markets.

Actually (C) goes along with (A) ... if this change goes in, as it is now ... then we are going to see a huge scarcity issue in the market. Players will find partially empty vendors all over the place.

They will respond in a couple of ways.

1) Run on an item. Once they find what they want ... they will just buy a bunch of them ... maybe clearning out vendors of a certain item.

2) Settle for less. When they can't find things afte searching for hours and hours (or days and days) they will *settle* for whatever they find ... even if it's not up to their standards.

Well .. it's not their standards ... it's the elite long time crafters standards ... (I been in the weaponsmith business a loooooong time).

just say it, you don't want Merchants in the game at all.

Pretty much...

I just think it's a waste of skill points. It costs a Master Artsan an additional 6-63 skill points to be able to sell their crafts. It's a waste of points. There's absolutely no reason to have the profession in the game, other than to fulfill some misguided notion that there needs to be social middleman professions in this game.

I've done Merchant, it can be mastered by anyone with no work and a 40k credit or so investment.

The only reward is that you can have npc merchants, dress them up, make them say funny things, and actually have them show up on the world map. Nothing useful, like being able to add your auctions to the planetary bazaar, so people could actually search for your wares, no.

In Everquest, as a comparison, you get about 1/2 the functionality of the merchant profession by buying a Bazaar Satchel for 5 plat, or whatever it was.

Having vendors is not hard, it's not fun. It's a small part of the game. But not having them and having to rely on other players to sell my stuff makes merchants a big part of the game. A big pain in my behind.

Make it so we can trade our pets in for callable ones, or at least deeds so we can put them in our houses and /cry! (lol)
