Thread: All my Vendors area gone.. Please give me some good news
I hadn't realized this actually went into effect either. I knew vendors were supposed to disappear 2 weeks after becoming empty after the warning emails that they were empty. But to just delete them after 2 weeks of not being accessed with no warning is just wrong. Especially with the galaxy wide vendor searching people don't even have to access vendors at all now to browse, they can search from the bazaar and then just go to the vendors that have what they want, which is usually the first ones they see that have what they want.
Considering they leave houses and other structures up forever and vendors already will disappear when empty, even with plenty of maintenance, we really are getting screwed with this one.
Yes there fully stocked, yes they have maintenance on them all. submitted a bug report DONE!!! will it do any good, will it get the DEVs to actually fix this bug which has been going on for nearly a year!!! I still feel the pain of a vendor disappearing with all my spare Faction/quest Armor and other loot on it!!, Did I get recompense did I fek.
This stuff is not real so what's the big deal about replacing the dam stuff, are thay not able to check theLog files to confirm the items where there in the first place!!! or is that to much like real work????
Saying sorry for the inconvenience doesn't cut it anymore with me!!!.

Try writing up a ticket, though I'm not sure how much help that will be.
Hmm, I can't find the posts now, but there was a test way back when this vendor change went in. Someone other than the vendor owner must view the vendor or purchase an item at least every 2 weeks. Or the vendor owner must list a new item for sale at least every 2 weeks. Relisting from stockroom will not reset it. It must be a newly listed item. Even if all you do is list a droid battery, then 2 weeks later, withdraw it, retrieve to inventory, and then relist it.
That's how I keep fashion mannequin or greeter vendors alive.
Adding maintenance, viewing it yourself, or relisting from stockroom is not considered "accessing" and the vendor will poof.
If I remember correctly, you use to get this email after nothing was for sale, then when you put something on it you got a message saying everything is once again working. Is it possible the emails are now borked? Should we have gotten a message before our vendors went kaput?
my guess is that the patch 17 BS knocked some old code loose, and they didn't bother doing anything for or testing merchants (probably cause the EQ guys are going "Why not just have it all in one central location? YOu need not these vendors). I can't even believe there are people here defending this with a "well, that's the way it works". If this IS intended then it needs to be changed, and whoever came up with the idea needs to be fired, and the people who implemented it so badly need to be censured.
-If you can list items of a vendor for 30 days, then the vendor should not be able to delete until all items have fallen off, period.
-If they're going to have a system like this where vendors will get deleted, then they need to remove the maintenence requirements and put in more mails to the owner (no matter where they are) that the vendor has not been used in xxx days and will be deleted in xxx days.
-I propose that a vendor should not be able to be deleted until all items (including stock room and offered items) have been deleted from the vendor. Browsing or buying something off the vendor should have no influence on whether or not it stays in the game.
If this is intended then it's just another way for SoE to take the freedom of playability out of the game. What happened to "here's a huge world, do what you want and can". Now it's "We intended it to be used like this, so you better use it like this!". I mean with the change in structures this would make absolutely no sense...structures will stay in the game forever if you have the creds, but merchants have a 2 week life span? Whether or not they've got items for sale? The whole reason why SoE said they wouldn't go in and delete houses was because the owners may at some point return, and SoE is very against deleting peoples items. With that in mind, this vendor system must be a bug. I'll bet my account on it.
