Yeah but the crates on the bazaar for 3k were crates of 5. Now, since people are already selling for 5,6,7k for WHOLE crates of 25 they can sell them on the bazaar, meaning their price will be the standard, and their spice by the crate will be accessible. yeah that hurts merchants, but it hurts smugglers too. As for us smuggler/merchants, we're uber screwed.

And for us lazy as crap smugglers who don't want to craft....

Spices will go for 6K a crate of 25. I think you are right in that.

JT,

You make a good point that the 5k & 6k undercutters can now put full crates on the bazaar, but, there are still limits on the bazaar of what 20, 30 items per person? Those smugglers could sell out in less than an hour, and unless they are constantly re-stocking, they will not be able to significantly cut into the market. Even if they put the 150 item cap per vendor up, that is still 5x the stock per vendor than on the bazaar.

In addition, speaking for myself, my spice vendors are placed in locations near other vendors, selling items that will not go for 6k, such as weapons, armor, meds, etc. People will still come to those locations (such as a merchant tent mall or PA mall) in player cities, and will buy spice there because it is convenient.

My point in my earlier post was that there will always be undercutters, I stopped using the bazaar months ago because I didn't want to sell my spice at the prices others would sell for on the bazaar, and I knew mine wouldn't sell at a higher price sitting on a display next to theirs. The market for a consumable item like spice is potentially huge, far larger than the smuggler population can support; demand is higher than the supply. The crazy amounts of money floating around indicate that people can and will 'overpay' for items, that is they may not buy purely on price alone. I think this is not going to prevent me from selling all the spice I can make from my vendors, nor you from yours.

I don't think the bazaar price cap raise will have that big an impact, to be honest - on Bria at least, those "undercutting" by selling crates at 7k are doing so by spamming at the starports.
The units of spice I (rarely) see on the bazaar are singles.

Plus, there is always the option for you to buy the spice at that price and resell it, should you be lucky enough to find crates at 6k each
They can only put on a maximum of 25 crates at a time, remember.

On the occasions I've bothered to make spices, I've sold out easily enough on my vendor when pricing at 11k/crate, even on days when I've seen Novice Smugglers at the star port hawking their wares at 7k to make ends meet.

On the vendor issue, I also supportan item limit (not sure if 150 is a tad too low though) - at the end of the day they are supposed to be placed by Merchants and if you are shifting that much stock then it should be one of your skills, which means you will have the ability to run more than1 vendor too.

Alternatively, it might cause a shift in playing patterns where crafters craft and merchant sell - a more "real" chain of manufacturer->reseller->consumer.

This should be viewed as an opportunity for Merchants to get some long-overdue love, IMO.

Yeah but if 6k crates are the norm then two things happen:

1) the bazaar is the place to get spice. Not us personally. Not from those of us with vendors. The bazaar.

2) 6k becomes the MAX you can charge per crate because that's what people can get it for.

That's my whole problem with the bazaar cap being raised to 6k. Then crates of a lot of expensive consumables get put on the bazaar and 6k becomes the cap setting the price. As it stands now 3k isn't cost effective to sell crates of anything, so there's no hard cap. See the problem?

"Not gonna happen. That's what I'm saying. Undercutting is going to take a huge upturn with this because the market is about to get flooded with super cheap muon and neutron.".

Yeah. So? I sell NP at 6K a crate now already. Bazaar will take 20 credits of that. Plus, if it will sell as well as you do, I'll have no way tp produce enough for the whole server anyway. (And I don't want to spend my time making spices anyway).

I do spices a certain way. Being primarily a resource seller, there are weeks where there isn't a good resource worth mining. Then I use my harvesters to dig up any crap copper/water etc to use it for spices. This week we have a four stats avove 900 Kammris iron up on my server, guess what I won't be making spices with it.

So basically spices to me are a way not to let my harvesters sit idle in my inventoryon "poor weeks" and a way to recycle poor resources into a high deman item. Operating costs for a heavy mineral and redeedingaccounted for, spice resources cost me an average of .45 cpu. A crate of spices (any) costs me 506.25 credits!

I find the money good enough, AND it makes my reputation good, AND it allows lots of people to try spices, AND it makes me feel good. AND this is still pocket money to me, I could earn 18 millions this week if I sold all my resources stock.

Maybe they should make it illegal to sell spice on bazaar

Make it so the only way to get an ILLEGAL GOOD is from an interaction with a smuggler

That would make me happy

Personally I think the bazaar cap increase is a good idea, but shouldn't this be a merchant skill and not just available to everyone?

No, thanks. Having to be there to slice is okay, having to be there for spices is not. I have a cluttered enough inventory with clamps, knives, auks and wuks already. No need to add two or three other crates to carry in bulk. Inventory space would become an issue, and we don't have smuggling compartmrnts on vehicles to remedy to that.

/agree yeah, then that would give something else to the merchants to use since they have so little already.
