"exchanged" implies that he was emailing you back.
Please let him know in your next exchange that the paying customers.. the ones ultimately responsible for his paycheck, would like some developer commentary on this issue instead of the stone silence..
Half of my guild quit today ... this was the straw that broke the camels back I believe... and half of the people in my guild who quit are taking multiple accounts with them..
Why is this being done? I didn't read all 57 pages of posts, but the 10 or so I did read speculated that it was to clean out the database. Is this true? Well, if so, this is how I'd clear the database:
1) lose poached vendors. This is being done, and I'm happy about that aspect of the change. Nothing I hate more than going to a dozen vendors looking for something and then finding them empty or with one 9999999 item on them. But it doesn't look like the nerf is going to address the 9999999 problem. Guess there should be a mechanism in game for us to report those for deletion, like /bug.
2) All items that reach 0/0 are deleted. This would be doubly helpful. It would clear useless items out of the db, and give the crafters repeat business. As it stands, clothing can be worn even when it reaches 0/0. I had 4 of my 6 survey devices go 0/0 yesterday, they all still worked just fine. This should never have been the case.
Do not make it so that crafters cannot run their own shops, which is what it's looking like will happen. Personally, I can live with a 1500 limit, since most of my business is through email order. But I'd like to have a vendor or two, and I'd like to be able to keep it as stocked as they are now.

I just hope Thunderheart explains to us why the Devs feel that the Merchants need to be hit below the belt with a vendor nerf like this. I wouldn't protest with such rage if someone would just explain WHY these changes are being made to the profession when we get no new user interface to help us stock and keep track of sales other than spam emails.

I am calmly and rationally attempting to move the devs into a better position for us and trying to get them to make changes to allow Merchants to give the merchants tools they need to take on the role that vendor item limits will force us to take on. I
Doc, you're in a tough spot, and I don't envy you, and the last thing you need is some other idiot (namely me) blabbering at you, but this here is the biggest problem I have with the things you are saying in this and in other posts. Who is this mythical "us" to which you refer? Are you suggesting that there are large numbers of merchants out there on every server, with capacity and desire to hawk other crafter's goods? Cause my observation is that this just isn't so. In fact, in the year I've been playing now, I've never met such a person in-game. A while back I and a friend made a concerted effort to locate such people and after a lengthy search, including posts in the galaxy trade, posts in the merchant forum, and sending everyone a /tell that we could find that daredwear the merchant tag (all two of them)we gave up, created alts, and made merchants of our own to hawk our own goods (like everyone else). Just a quick glance at people's signatures in this forum bears that out undeniably.
Pretending that merchant is a "stand alone" class that serves other crafters is ignoring the reality that merchants are weaponsmiths, armorsmiths, tailors, droid engineers, architects, etc. They are people looking at merchant as a skill point sink, and a means to an end for the most part. I'm sure that those that have spent the skill points necessary to master merchant would like to reap special rewards for that sacrifice, and I'm all for that, but let's not lose sight of the fact that the real issue here revolves around people trying to hawk their own goods and suddenly being prevented from doing so (and no I'm not talking about the "pick up merchant, give up merchant" exploit).
