Thread: Will vendors still be barking if i drop advertising?

It wa said somewhere by TH (I think) that there were 70...count em *70* people on the JtL team. I salivate at the possibility that those 70 people will be assigned to the Core game issues that have plauged us from launch.
As if the JTL people are going to be working on things besides JTL. They'll have their own swarm of bugs that will take more than a year to fix. LOL!

I hate ad barking vendors. They clutter up spatial chat if you are in a mall. If you are trying to work with a customer there, it's as bad as being in a cantina full of spamming afkbots. You can't talk with all that chatter going on. And they turn to face whoever they are talking to. And face the wall. And look stupid. And then they can't talk again until someone happens to run past their "field of view." But they are facing the wall now so... And they talk to each other. And passing bikes. And mounts. And if you pass over them on a floor above or the roof, they talk. They talk and talk and talk. Shut up already!

Fine. Here is my position. I don't support the "feature" that allows you to continue to gain the benefit of advertising after you no longer have the skills required to set it up. I will spend the rest of my days lobbying to get it changed so that when you don't have the skill any more the vendor will stop adbarking and remove itself from the global map when it detects that you no longer have the skills necessary to set those features up. I won't bother boring you any more with my own internal reasons for supporting such a change.

Like a relist featureI really don't want devs to look at the list of suggestions when it is "time to give merchants something" and see the "Remove adbarkin/global map for those without skills" and they go "Hey that is one easy thing to fix we give them that" instead of doing something that would really improve game play.
I don't prioritize those lists based on my own opinion of what is important and even if I did I would agree that the tools are the most important thing we need. If you look at our list (and remove the items that hve been completed from it) you will see it is heavy with tools that were suggested to make our life easier. The #1 thing in my opinion is the revamp of the vendor interface to make it easier to manage our businesses and easier for people to offer us merchandise.

Wrong Dingoboi. It is people like you and balkstar who draw attention away from important changes to the overall profession. Having the DEVs focus on poaching was a waste of time. If any changes were made, they should have been to the tools for the profession, yet instead.. they were focused on a pointless change that didn't really help anything at all, and only hurt legit merchants.
I bet if you took a vote between the patch that merchants got, and a patch that gave merchants a better interface for vendors that included a relist all option... the majority would have gone for the better interface. I know that is what I would have voted for. Poachers don't matter. Lack of tools and abilities for the profession do.
Me to...too bad we didn't get that vote. There never was any vote. They told us we were getting item limits. We asked why merchants had to get punished with item limits when there were so many vendors that weren't even being run by someone with merchant skills. They came back and said we'll fix that at the same time. Thats it. No choice about giving us new tools or a new interface. In fact I Sumbitted the interface document at the same time they were working on this but they told me it would have to wait until our "revamp"

I would rather have zero improvements to the merchant profession improve it to let everybody continue to exploit.
I always felt this was a key requirement to getting the real improvements we need. But if you want to continue to espouse the exploitation of the merchant profession, I can crusade for it to stop. It's PEOPLE LIKE YOU, who ruin this profession.
Good day to you... not even worth an egg anymore

Yes it was a waste of time, and the Merchant profession is in tatters now. Poached vendors are still about although at a crippled pace, and it is more bugged now, and even vendors being "used" within proper requirement are going poof!
I placed a vendor down the other other day, and stored an item in an armoire, and both the vendor and the newly stored item in armoir went poof, logged in and out several times still vanished, tried to create another vendor, still no joy as was managing all the vendors I could, 3 of them, could see 2, but not the 3rd new one I placed and put a couple of vehicles on. Gave up in the end, logged out, logged in next day and it had return along with the item from the armoir, thankfully as someone managed to buy a vehicle from it!
I just simply don't trust merchant at the moment.
btw you got no eggs to throw as I knicked em all!
