What happens is the holocrons go silent and you have to guess your way from there, which is why I think holocrons are silly. You can get four and know the first four, but you can still have to master all the rest of the professions in the game to find that last elusive profession (odds are SOMEONE has to, though it'd be rare).

First, please note my math correction. 21,600 xp per day.

AND IT"S FOR DOING NOTHING. NOTHING MONKEY BOY! NOTHING! You're getting that for paying your vendors, while meanwhile you could be grinding out OTHER aritsan professions (and like i said, if you're the pale misanthropic type who grinds all day and all night then you could probably grind through all of the other artisan professions in that time AND have plenty of stuff to sell on said vendors). I know I know you can't repetitively click yer way to glory, but you're getting that xp for doing NOTHING. Stop whining.

I am a holocron-merchant and I am enjoying it! In order to have something to stock my vendor with I decided to take up master artisan before the vehicles came out. I love to loot items from NPCs, now I have a place to sell the stuff that I don't need. My main profession is Smuggler... yep you guessed it... now I can sell my spices and slicing supplies.

Although it does take a long time to level up in Merchant, you get XP points while you are doing other things/professions AND when you are not even in the game. I guess my only complaint is that you only get 50 points when somebody buys something from you or browses your vendor. I understand that the XP is so low as to head off exploits (having your friends buy tons of crap off of your vendor for 5 credits each). It is really a downer to work your ass off to collect recourses, make an item, put it on you vendor, yell about your wares in town then only get 50 points when someone actually ventures out to buy something from you.

Its amusing to see some people who are use to grinding out a profession in 1-3 days have a hissy-fit over how long it takes to master merchant.

hmm...I have a little question, because I play this game not long, (less than a month), I don't have building or vendor, how do I get the exp?

There is no way to get xp without a vendor or a building. You have to have one or the other. You can get someone to allow you to put down a vendor in their building. But you must either have a vendor or an entry fee on a building that you own to get merchant xp.

If you don't have business III yet you get that with general crafting xp.

That's kinda like trying to get combat xp without a weapon. Nothing gets you Merchant xp faster than running a legitimate business.

LOL JTG that gave me a good laugh but us merchant holo grinders arent all morons i got merchant on my first one and in the mean time i remastered marksman and worked on finishing off smuggler(which i've had for a while, its a fun profession) and have worked on wandering around exploring places. Having merchant has enabled me to sell smuggler goods some adding more exp to my daily total. And i do leave the house, and no the sunlight doesnt burn me to a crisp

In all seriousness though it amazes me that people list merchant as a hard or nightmare holo profession to get. its SO easy. All you have to do is setup merchants and put money into them. and maybe have a few friends look at them now and then to bump exp up. In the mean time i've got a bunch of badges. Finished slicing 4. dirty fighting 3 and underworld 2, and had a chance to relax. its so nice to be able to logon and not have to grind like a mad fool hurtling towards jedi-dom. i count myself lucky i got merchant as a holo prof. may even go back to it at a later date to run a business. Its... well relaxing.

So stop whining suck it up and enjoy the profession while you can because next holo your getting something nasty like pikeman
