I think at BARE MINIMUM empty vendors should be immediately be kicked from the planetary map, if they were registered.

(and before you flame me...triple master and have full vendors at all times)

Yes, the new limits are going to make this problem MUCH WORSE! Good move SOE and all you player fools that posted in favor of caps instead of nerfing the exploiters with no merchant skills that are keeping the db this large.

I live in the year 2004... and I can pick up this super-advanced terminal called "a phone" and dial up a store to enquire about product and stock.... even if it's on the other side of the planet.

But 40,000 years in the future and I need to catch a shuttle myself, run or ride out to the shop to actually see prices and stock!

And now that I think of it, sometimes I only have an hour to play this game per night. And I swear 90% of the time I end up losing 10-15 minutes of that hour to shuttle waiting.

And even though I have Internet-banking and electronic funds transfer in RL... I still have to run out and deposit maintenance in my houses, factories and harvesters manually, further wasting my limited play time.

Wow. My 3-monthly subscription expires next month... been waiting forever for the GCW to be fixed... I just realized that my enjoyment of this game is overwhelmed with boring timesinks and frustrations.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far away....

I am sooo tired of going to a vendor only to find it empty! All merchants with empty vendors (registered with the planetary map) should be shot, or at the very least there should be a negitive XP penalty.

Wow, this a great post! You present the problem in such an adult manner and you even provide a solution.

Good job!

My solution to the empty vendor as a Merchant... raise prices.

Very true, I have no problem keeping my vendor stocked because my price level is primarily controlled by my willingness to keep stock up for sale. When I start selling too much, I raise prices.

Your total profits are maximized that way as well, though your sales volume may not be. I can't be sure about the latter, though, because I suspect I get more traffic (despite an out of the way location) because my customers know that they can find what they are seeking.

Money is awfully easy to come by in this game once you know what to do, though it can be a stumbling block for a newbie. My prices reflect that and my customers are not newbs.

My son is an altruist, and still hawks fine CDEFs to newbs for a couple hundred cr. Fine if you like that, but it isn't a vendor based business. To get to my shop, you better have a vehicle or some combat skill most days.

The map listing in Ad 3 would be worth ten times as much if empty vendors were removed.

Actually, the alternative implied by the subject of this would be fine too -- a TEF that lasted until it was re-filled! That might teach them a lesson.

Try crafting and keeping a huge stock...

THEN complain. It's not easy to keep a vendor fully stocked 24/7. If you can do it, then return to your swordsmanship or your bounty hunting, and your conception that crafters play simply to serve you, and piss you off when everyone else beats you to thier vendor.

You are sorely mistaken. Having a vendor with items on it is your privelidge, not the crafters obligation.Blame Sony for not having vendor code turn the vendor global advertisement off if the stock is cleared.
