The good news is that they buy option has been removed. The bad news (for some anyway) is that the price is now on the listing screen.

I personally don't have an issue with that but I understand the concerns about those who do.

I have an idea why they might have done that...

If people wanted to see the prices, then they had to give up the buy option but if people want tobuy the item right away then they would have to check the prices by double-clicking it. so what I think if either one or the other but not both.

that my guess anyway...in class learning C# so my mind is not sane atm.

Y'know, it really doesn't matter if they leave a slot in for the price or not. Enterprising merchants will just put the price in with the name of the things they are selling (T21 X-Y Damage, Z Speed, 30k) or in the description of the item.

Some might, most probably wouldn't because it limits your options. Trying to sell something above its "sticker price" is sure to tick off the customers.

I've stated elsewhere that I don't have an issue with the prices displaying. But just to examine the difference between listing prices and people putting prices in their descriptions. The first difference is that you can't effectively sort by price if the price is just imbeded in the name of the item. Everyone will put prices in a different place or in a different style and the sorting will be all over the place. Not everyone will do it anyway and some people won't buy custom named products in the first place.

This sounds good. I like this change, as I see it as you describe it, this will really help well stocked vendors and help connecting customers to vendors what can provide them with goods.

I have a HUGE problem with price being on the listing screen. Really. Huge. Big enough that between that and the lack of a SP requirement to be able to get registered, I might as well pack it in, just keep Business IV ora couple of Merchant boxes, and go do something fun with the skill points.

I've always wanted to try BioEngineering.

Only the cheapest or the best will sell. This forces people out of what could be their chosen profession.

FWIW: I've used the same price list since July 2003, and I'm not going to change them now. Besides, I already know my prices are high and I let my customers know that as well.

Now if you can get them to implement some deeper sorting and a bit of searching, that'd be a great set of Vendor Changes.

I think there's not as much of an uproar THIS time simply because we've realized that nothing we want matters, nothing we say or do will make a difference.

Personally, I'm consolidating my outlets and getting ready to drop merchant so I can simply place a block droid in the corner of my guildhall/museum.

I mean, we're not going to be merchants anymore, we're simply going to be warehouses for the galactic bazaar system.

/sigh

Uhh, ... that's how a free market works. The theory behind a free market is that competition will benefit the consumer.

Honestly, I don't understand why some merchant cannot understand this simple thing. It's almost like they've built their business model on ripping off consumers who are ignorant of the competition.

Miriam, you obviously have no appreciation and little knowledge of the merchant profession. We pride ourselves on having nicely decorated shops, with vendors seperating our goods so that when someone comes into our shop they know right away that they are dealing with a serious merchant. With this change, it simply will not matter what your shop looks like, or how many vendors you have organizing your items, because all the shopping will be done from the galactic bazaar to begin with.

Furthurmore, from how things are progressing, unless you're scribbling stats and prices on your weapons they will not catch more than a second look from a shopper at the bazaar, which will surely make up the largest majority of shoppers. And for the one who commented that some people do not like to buy custom named weapons...I"ve prided myself in over a year of weaponsmithing in not scribbling over and customizing names of weapons with business logos and such. However, that will now be completely unfeasilbe, as my only chance to compete will be to throw my name on weapons so that searchers will take the time to look where it's from, check the price and hopefully come buy it.If I don't do this my huge stock of sliced, unsliced and even enhanced weapons will look no different from a collector selling junk loot weapons with business 3.

If I am a crybaby because I become upset when I see something I've grown quite fond of watered down, diluted and rendered ineffective...
/shrug

So be it.

I went from using what vendors I got in Master Artisan, to taking Novice Merchant, to mastering the profession. In that time I've taken great pride in not simply being a rehash of the old 'Sears Catalog Outlets'. I have a location, a place with a bit of ambiance and character. I've taken great pleasure in the comments my efforts have garnered from my customers and friends.

Now, ultimately, none of that will matter to the prospective consumer.

I'm quite aware that to someone like you, none of this matters, but to myself, and many, MANY more of us here, it matters greatly.
