I would never dream of ignoring an afk buff bot...
...until after I logged the chat and reported the bot for spamming
Seriously, afk spammers at starports are on my ignore list, period. There are many many spammers, so there are always some who aren't on the list yet, but in general a few weeks after starting this policy, I find my starport trips much more pleasant.
If I want to find something to buy, I will use the overhead map or ask for vendor recommendations in guild chat or the city's chat channel.

AFK barkers never bothered me. I always saw them for what they were; salespeople trying to communicate with as many people as possible, with the only tools available to them. Who's fault is it that there was no better way of selling to the masses? Punishing an advertiser is plain intolerant...
But things have changed, havent they? We don't need to spam anymore do we? I used to scan for chat bubbles every time I arrived in Theed or CNet; by finding the right ad, I saved myself hours over the course of the few months I played. Thier messages were indispensible before GWVS. Not only did I regularly (and prefferentially buy from AFK barkers, but found a number of customers in this way. I recived a few emails from new customers indicating they heard me at a starport.
Maybe I am on some ignore lists, but really I would rather not sell to those prone to over-reactions. You never know who they might abuse my vendors.

To answer the thread question, no.
But then I rarely spam these days. I occasionally get my merchant bot out at Theed if I can be bothered and I might throw an ad into auction chat if I'm quiet but most of my customers are either visiting me again or have been refered by someone else. I get a lot of word-of-mouth traffic, so much that I never put my master tailor tag on anymore
As for ignoring people, if its frequent spam, more than one message (or group of messages) a minute and they go on my list. However, I do tend to clear out those added for spamming every now and then in case they have stopped that bad habit. Maybe I'm too forgiving

Personally I dispise spamming, but I can tell you it works and it works well. I put my merchant/crafter up overnight when my sales start to drop and it always boosts the number of customers in the store. I have tried to use the player vendor search button, but since most of my sales are crates I get frustrated long before I reach the end of the factory crate options menu for the planet, my crafter is a chef/weaponsmith/merchant. I figure others do as well. So I drop my guy at Coronet, my shop is at the mining outpost on Dantooine, and let them know what is there. My wife is an armorsmith/talior/merchant who makes 80/80/69 wookiee Hunting armor. That is great wookiee armor that sits for weeks withminimal sales, but the first thing out of her mouth when she signs on and sees all her stock gone in a single day is, "Steven (me), was Daryl (my toon) spamming the starports again?"And the answer is always yes.

In my experience spamming works. I dont neccessarily sit myself at the starport and spam, but when I need something to move I will use my barker droid. I've found spamming the auction channel every minute or two is good advertising also. I only ignore obnoxious spammers who spam too often or just spamming trash talk. I've found too many good deals to ignore all spammers.
