Sellers claim that afk spamming in the starports works, especially if the spam message is repeated every other second.
What are these people smoking and why are they not sharing?
I did an informal poll and found that most people do as I do, add the spammers to the ignore list the instant a message is repeated. That is particularly sad if those spammers actually play and try to communicate with anyone.
I have never used a spambots information to find any goods. I have always relied on the planetary map. (The only useful thing to ever come out of a spam message for me was the price a competitor was charging for his ships.)
Do any of you who spam ever use anyone else merchant spam to find goods or resources? How would you ever know that it even was your spam that brought new customers to you?
I have had merchants blindly send me emails with a list of their goods based on my profession tag. That was actually useful. To bad more merchants don't do that instead of spamming.

Actually, there have been many times I have visited a store based on random spam I have seen.
Sometimes I even add them to my ignore list after I get the waypoint.
I have strict guidelines on who I ignore:
1) If they're spamming multiple or obnoxiously long lines of text.
2) If they're spamming more often than once every 60 sec (including emotes).
If they meet either of those requirements, they go on my ignore list.
That includes entertainers and doctors too.

As a rule I try not to ignore anyone, since they could be a potential customer in the future. Simple starport spamming isn't sufficient to be /addignored by me. They have be obnoxiously spamming or a known scammer spamming. I think I have like 6 people /addignored.
I've bought from spammers before. Especially if they're advertising a fire sale. I've gotten some good deals before.

heh, I don't have enough of my sanity left to afford not /addignoring someone the instant I see them spam
(did that make sense? O.o) I don't do business with folks I don't like, and spammers definitely push my buttons. If the tent ban list wasn't limisted I would put everyone on my ignore there...

I /addignore anyone who spams, with the exception of entertainers, unless the entertainer is really obnoxious. I just started doing this after I got sick of crashing every time I went to Theed. I hate spatial spammers.

My theory on entertainers is
- The people that CAN heal you know they can heal you.
- The people that need to watch you will watch you.
- The people that will tip you will tip you.
If they're running spam macros to say these things, I'm not interested in hearing them.
Buff Bots deserve to be ignored.

Yeah I make an effort to seek out ATK entertainers now.

Better beleive I addignore buffbots!
It is one thing to announce, or have a macro to ease the tyeping of welcome so and so to every person who enters
But to think that AFK and Botting is how you play..nope nuuh goaway you fool.
If the person is SPAMing within reason, I am fine..but if my screen rolls with their 'speeches' oops there goes anotherone on /addignore

I'm not opposed toAFK play, as long as it isn't taking away from someone's ATK play.
Buffbots in a private cantina are ok.
Buffbots in a public cantina are bad.

I never ignore spammers unless they're being obnoxious... every few seconds etc. Sometimes I leave my toon afk in mining outpost doing a lil advert... I don't think I get too many ignores though, since I still get a lot of business when the ad is up and I get lots of /tells and mails
(I always scroll up in my tells window and reply to people that've sent me a tell when I was afk)

I only ban people who have scammed, stolen orders or otherwise inflicted great harm on thecommunity (i.e. mayors that destroyed their cities when they were facing election defeat). Someone annoying me isn't sufficient reason to block their business. Most people aren't always annoying anyways.

Even the people who are on my ignore list can still buy from my vendors.
I ignore their spam, not their money.
But what if they have a question and want to contact me?
I don't care.
I'm a big fan of personal accountability and actions have consequences.
Their starport spamming has earned them a spot on my ignore list and there they will remain.

I usually give a bunch of clothing to ATK entertainers I meet (as well as tip of course)
I don't actually have many folks on my shop's ban list, but I don't like dressing spam bots. I wouldn't mind their money, but I don't want to be associated with folks who are ruining other people's gameplay (this goes mostly for afk ents and buffbots, but also for folks who spam excessively so loading takes forever.)
maybe I'm just spoiled though... I don't have much expenses, and stuff I make is mostly pure profit (BE tissues and most of my resources are free from Odi.) on top of that I heard tailors are rare nowadays, and I'm at a comfortable level of sales (not too many restocks, but enough to keep the shop running and then some.)
