Thread: Access fee is now capped at 50k

Trance,
Ithink most of the true non-holo merchants are upset by this because the only way to have a somewhta private vendor for custom orders or offer 1 credit items to a PA is to set up a vendor and charge an astronomical price to get in. The need for private vendors is there and we all know SOE will not make this a priority. I understand not wanting to shop at a store that has a entry fee but again you are dealing with a broken game mechanic. Merchants should get XP on sales thus being a merchant not by how many people enter a store. If you set up a shop on 5th Ave in NYC that everyone goes in but no one buys anything from you are a crappy merchant the same should apply here.
Jaxx is correct that one person complaining will not do anything to make the devs change a game feature. Jaxx even made it clear that it was his mistake and he was willing to accept the loss. What frustrates me are the hundreds of other people that did not see the 7 extra zeros after the 1 and obviously went to SOE and complained.
The point is we NEED some way of providing relatively private vendors for PA uses as well as special and custom orders. Should this be so hard. And having to sell things on a vendor and refunding the price is a total pain in the rear. If I had to do that with my PA vendor I would never do anything else in the game plus I would loose a ton of money on the bank tip feature.
I just can not believe the stupidity of lowering the entry fee so low all because people are in a rush to push the accept fee button. Our PA entry fee used to be 20 million credits. 1 million for each member if anyone malliciously entered our PA hall. Obviously if someone was lucky enough to have that much cash on them and they accidentily clicked yes but did not take anything off our vendor I would have gladly refunded the credits.
I have no information that it was changed because of that. They made changes to the Entry Fee system because it was possible to put in a number high enough in the time field to overflow the variable and cause you to be able to exploit this for very fast Merchant XP (not to mention charge people a fee and allow them access for a negative amount of time effective stealing entry fee)
I don't know why they lowered it to 50k. Probaby because they didn't understand the reason for it to be higher. I'll ask if we can get it boosted up again.

Another nerf brought about by inattentive whiners
Now we REALLY need access restrictions on vendors. I have had to give up guild specific vendors for now.
I would really like to know how I am a whiner? All I did was post about this person and what happened. My post was not whining, it was to INFORM others of my mistake so OTHERS would not make the same one.
And for your information, SOE is NOT going to change one thing in game because of one person. So obviously it has happened many other times.
And furthermore, its sad when someone posts that they made a mistake and wanted to let others know of what was going on so it wouldn't happen to them, and you get people who flame you for it.
If you read the original thread, you will see where people offered me money and such, but I refused.
Welcome to the Monkey House, where we take everything to the lowest common denominator, which in this case is based on the stupidest person in the game.
Could you pass me the bananas, please?
I understand fixing the exploit for time but why on Earth would they lower the entry fee??? I thank you for your willingness to bring this to the devs. For me this is a game breaking factor in my PA management and I would REALLY like to see this fixed.

No matter how you twist it, people like you, who cant be bothered to check what a fee is before paying it, caused SOE to take away the last workaround we had for having non public vendors. I have used fees to limit access to buildings for a long time, and before you came along NOONE had a problem with this.
If you are not prepared to take heat for nerfing our profession, then stay off our board.
People like me? Before I came along?
I've been here since beta. I am a Master Merchant. I have been selling resources since release. I have NEVER had an access fee myself. I am NOT one of the ones that went crying to SOE that the system was messed up. I went to the individual. I took the loss.
Maybe you should think about what you said again.
As I said I don't know why that limit was put in. There was never any discussion that I remember about lowering it. I suspect it was just the fact that they were putting in limits and someone came up with that one not understanding why it would need to be any higher.

Jaxx had the cajounes to post here on this thread, in essence b/c he was prepared to take the heat-- don't give him grief.
This nerf is hardly b/c a player paid an exhorbitant admin fee inadvertantly. Obviously, our Merchant Correspondant has a better handle on the situation and why the access fee was nerfed.

And how, pretell, are you going to enforce this? Hush.
Tks
Look Jaxx fully understands the mistake and if you read his link it describes it. He is obviously not the one crying to SOE, so cut the guy some slack.
I find it absolutely rediculous that the devs would not even announce something like this in a forum post or even patch notes. Hopefully they can see the value in keeping it high and with Doc's help our voice will be heard.![]()

We need an ability to administrate our vendors to specific players, guilds, groups, factions etc.
Thats the bottom line.
