Ok.. I didn't ask why people still spam. I asked why it is still allowed. Two completely different questions.
Can you think of any decent solution to prohibit spamming while still allowing people to use spatial? Well, that's why.
However, the game offers you a mechanism to filter out spammers... it's called the ignore list. Use it liberally and soon you'll get little spam.
Surely. Do YOU have a problem tellng what is "spam" and what is a "conversation"? Because I'm sorry, but I do not. Devs could simply say "no more spam" and it would be pretty darned simple for players to report a spammer & for the devs to verify that it is a spammer and have a chat with them.
It's not exactly rocket science is it?

And no, I'm not being facetious. I truly would love to know the reasons that spamming spatial is still allowed. There is absolutely no reason for it. Instead of spamming spatial you can:
1. Spam auction Who watches this channel?
2. Set out a merchant bot Got one but I like to be able to advertise in 2 spots at once.
3. List your vendor in the galaxy wide search Do you realize how many people (vets too) do not know this is there or how to use it?
4. Advertise in your trade forums Not everyone uses the trade boards therefore I am not getting my full exposure.
5. Put advertisements on the bazaar using a backpack or named item Do you check the bazaar for advertisement packs? No one else does either.
Is there anything good about spamming? Honestly? Not at all. Sure you can ignore them but ever have one of the notorious spammers be your competition that sends you tells? Guess what - can't ignore them because it would be impolite. Also, should noobs really have to deal with this crap? It was so nice right after CU, even though our two most infamous spammers were still at it - at least it was only two.
There is absolutely no reason for this crap to be allowed. I not only spam my shop location but I do also spam when I am looking to buy a particular resource or am looking for certain items. This is a very viable reason this should be allowed. This is the ONLY way in game to get this information out to people and many times the noob players are the ones that benefit when it comes to resources becasue they do not know what is good and what is not.The only people who NEED to spam are those that have inferior products or jacked-up prices, pure and simple. The people that NEED to spam are the ones that are trying to get established in a profession. We are competing with people that have all the uber resources and past spawns with a 100+ per day sales rate and many many repeat customers. I will say that some people that spam are jacking up prices but not all. Also crafters are not the only spammers. How many times do you see "LFG" or "Hunting grouped forming. Send XXX a tell."? It is not only about selling stuf but getting attention to yourself when in a crowded area.
PS Feel free to spam me with flames if you want to defend your behavior
This is a non issue anyway. Their was a huge public outcry when the loot drops were nerfed and everyone that could was camping the good drops spots. The Devs said that there was nothing wrong with that so I do not think they will take the time to worry about people spamming. Use the ignore feature and if you worry about your customers not getting a tell to you then spam a message that you are ignoring all spammers. If someone is trying to contact you then they need to send you a mail.![]()

I do not spam during high volume times due to my work schedule. I do however generate sales this way. I know because I will get tells to my alt from this. I agree that spamming is out of control but I think it will slow down as people learn more about the game and how to do things like find a group with out spamming it every 2 seconds.

i think /spamming is fine.
however, the intervals should be a minimum of 3-5 minutes apart. anything less than that is annoying.

hm judging from customer service in SWG they are already way way way to short on people.
You know what doing this would kinda be like :
It would be like the mayor of new york outlawing red shirts on manhattan and blue shirts on long island and then say to the police : enforce this
Sure there wouldnt be to many red shirts on manhattan or blue shirts on long island but im pretty sure the guy getting his car stolen in the bronx and the guy getting mugged in queens and the 4 guys getting shot up on staten island would think using cops for such a trivial matter as shirt colors would be stupid.
