I participate just fine in the professions I hold a stake in, both in game and in the forums, and I don't recall anyone electing you the grand arbitor of who qualifies for actively contributing and supporting, and who doesn't.

I mean really, shall I scour your 3000 plus posts? Documenting here those which fall under the heading of trolling& non-constructive, and then go on to make light of them?

Seriously, we're both merchants, we're both looking for results that help to promote and prosper our chosen profession, how about we just stick to that goal and not try to hammer each other back and forth.

You started this by suggesting Elyssa isn't doing her job. Then you backed it up by suggesting I didn't do mine either when I was correspondent. Frankly I don't think you know what you are talking about on either count since Elyssa has informed the devs of this issue and stressed to them how important it is and pointed out to them how we were patient when we had to relist everything after the CU and that this was too much. That is the limit of her job. She is not supposed to go off ranting or spamming the devs with how serious it is. That behaviour will get her kicked out of the correspondent program and will not affect the timing of the fix at all. And when I was correspondent (and even today) my posts of merchant subjects are far from subltle or vague.

Our message this: Calm down. The bug is known, it is listed as being worked on, Elyssa knows it is a big deal and has communicated as much. If the devs tell her they aren't fixing it her job will be to tell us and to communicate our displeasure at that decision it still won't be her job to pitch a fit about it.

Listen, I appreciate what you're saying, I really do, and perhaps you're completely correct and I'm just out of touch.

I base my tone and the content of my posts (regarding this subject) on the "level" of discussion that occurs in shall we say more mainstream professions (I'm sure you know who I'm refering too) and the results that usually come from it, be they good or bad, they certainly seem to get results and no shortage of due time and attention, perhaps even an over abundance of it.

Having said that, it is exactly that same level of profile that I would love (and I'm trying to bring in my own small way) to see the merchant profession aspire to.

If my earlier posts suggested that Elyssa wasn't competent, or wasn't in any way doing her job, I certainly apologize for it, that wasn't my intent even if the meaning of my words came out that way.

That other profession gets attention not because of the level of ranting they produce but the fact that LA doesn't think this game sells without that profession. I think they are wrong but who am I? When you decide that a certain profession is the franchise they get more attention. No one at LucasArts is calling SOE to complain about unhappy merchants nor are they likely to do so in the near future.

Its frustrating. I agree. I beat my head against that wall for a year. You become numb after a while and learn just to do what you can do and not try to take on responsibilties you have no power to change.

Agreed, as unfortunate as the reality of the situation seems to be.

Final point to this thread that you all need to know.

I was at Fan Fest and brought up this very issue to the Devs that are supposedly supporting us and this game.

They had not clue that there is a problem with vendor descriptions. And I quote, "We will look into that right away."

Secondly and somewhat related.

When another player brought up the "My vendors are deleted after two weeks!" thing.

Again, the Devs had no clue this was happening and stated that it should not be.

While reading this thread I hear and understand both sides.

Bottom line however, is the fact that we have a problem that has persisted for almost a month now and not a single bit of information as to why it is not fixed yet.

I suggest that all correspondants should really evaluate their time investment.

IE, is anyone REALLY listening? And if not, we have to do something different.

Doing the samething over and over, and expecting different results, is a form of insanity.

I can't say Im surprised that the devs at fan fest were not aware of the tide of game fixes needed by this and other auxiliary professions (pretty much everything other than BH and Jedi). If you had a huge list of things to do, more than could be reasonably be remembered, what would be most memorable? Certainly it would not be some obscure database issue fro a profession that doesnt generate sales. Its more important to make the glowy, swirly animation, more glowie or swirly. Clearly!

I fail to see how this failing can be attributed to a communications failing originating from our correspondent; one of our own. The customer relations structure of SOE seems to be designed to isolate, rather than expose desicion makers from thier clients. My sense is that SOE will agressively seek to restore balance if it upset, by say an ovcrzealous correspondent.

Make no mistake about it. At least in this profession (and architect which I something about) players are powerless. No amount or reason, pleading or protest will have any effect whatsoever. If you think different, you are free to try... alone.

I support this correspondent and understand she has done was is possible within the limits of her ability. If you want something changed, become a jedi and whine on thier forums. This may be the only effective avenue for change left to SWG.

You know whats funny that reminds me of something that happend to me last week. I very rarely put in customer service tickets - but when I do it is mostly for stuff that are a real big problem for me or our city (I'm a mayor). In average that's maybe one ticket in 3 months. Also, when I write the ticket I make sure that my tickets are polite and courteous - very close to bootlicking.Still, most of my tickets areanswered with "blablabla we are sorry blablabla known issue blablabla we can not help you blablabla please have patience blablabla". So last week I was so upset about something I just went into chat and vented - of course the CSR in the chat told me "open a ticket". I didn't follow his advice and got downright abusive and rude for about 10 minutes - and lo and beholdbefore his moderator shift ended he pm'ed that he will look into it first thing and ding dong an hour later my problem was solved.

Sorry Doc, but I tend to agree. (not on Elyssa doing her job but the Dev's lack of responce)

SOE by God needs to learn that there are people that play this game and are non Combat professions. They rely on what they do to make thier credits in this game. My business is totally, 100% resource mining and selling. For me, THIS IS A GAME BREAKING ISSUE. I am not alone in this, if I was, there would be no listing on the vendors for resources. This bug has been in place for what now, almost a month? My business has gone to hell due to this. We have no way to even offer our items without a daily restocking. There's no way in hell I'll be doing that. I have a full time job that I need to afford this little hobby we all share. If I'm forced to do a daily restock, I have no time for anything else.

Our vendors ARE our lightsaber, blasters, swords, what have you. If this had been an issue where a combat special was not working AT ALL, SOE would have been on it quicker then crap. This last "publish" has taken alot of this game back to a beta state or worse in some areas. I really hope that SOE sees this and decieds to not worry about what some SOB in a suit claims they need to release on what date and gets this stuff tested and pay attention the bugs that are reported.

Doc, I've no beef with you but when you are losing milions per day to a bug that until it's third week was not even acknowledged, you lose you patience really, really quickly...

I wasn't telling you to be patient. I was telling you that having Elyssa throw herself on the ramparts of Devdom would sacrifice her at absolutely no gain to our cause. Her efforts are better spent in a methodically and patient way. If she went off on some half cocked flame they would just douse her with water and replace her with someone else.

I don't think the poster was refering to any failing of our correspondent but to communications beyond the control of any of them. When they send in issues what happens next. That is the question.

As to the specific vendor problem. It isgame-breaking for me too. I have already dropped most merchant skill and may soon drop all mining activities as I can't sell the resources anyway cause no one can search for them.

If I dodrop mining then why am I paying SOE to play? Now that is the question.

Oh yeah I remember. My Pets. Talk about seriously broken

Yeah, I know Doc... Sorry 'bout the way that post came across. It wasn't a good day and Merchant is really starting to upset me atm with the lack of effort it's being showed by the Dev's. My alt was running the business and I switched it over to my main so that I could have more time with him. Now, I've got a business that's taking a daily beating thanks to SOE and a main toon that has only 1 combat profession mastered.
