You're a much nicer guy than I am Doc. I'm kind of a vengeful SOB.
I'm the mayor of a player city so I know both sides. I don't complain about the sales taxes in my city because I set them in the first place.
My position on taxes is that if you are a resident you should be willing to help out by suffering the pain of a little extra being added to your prices. I don't discount for the taxes the people buying my products pay them..if they want to go somewhere else to save the 2% fine. (They don'tdon't quibble over 2% here or there there is way too much money in the game for that to really matter much)

Doc
I had a shop long before player cities were around. When one popped up next to me and eventually enveloped my shop, I didn't mind the sales tax. The tax in my city is 1%, and I've probably put 50K into the city coffers through sales tax. 10% is excessive though. If people had to pay an extra 15K-20K per harvester they bought from me, mybusiness would grind to a halt. A few hundred credits here and there is no problem. Tens of thousands is something else.

I did confirm that it was city tax and the tax is at a 10% rate. We are going to discuss this further but as far as I'm concerned that is to much. I would be willing to pay a 5% tax but I need to find out what troubles the city has.
I had just placed my Vendors Saturday so the server reset would make sense.
Also noticed that my house show's a 16% tax weekly.
Think this may be a pyramid sceme. heh

No..their costs to run the city could easily be in the half million credits per week range.

I confirm that newly placed vendors do not take the tax into account until the server reboot or the tax is changed, whichever comes first. I think I added it in a bug thread too. And yes 10% seems pretty high, and I would definitely talk to the mayor. I think that up to 3% of taxes is nice though (my city has 2%, and it really helps with the treasury).
