I agree that we should be able to recombine the factory cates, I can't count how many times I'm crafting and use a crate, then drop it in the factory and the factory will pull them oddly out of the crates, so now I have a crate of 3 and a crate of 8. I'd personally like it if we can stack factory crates to 100 but if not, let us recombine the crates to their original quantity.

As Doc said, there will be some sort of cap introduced in a few months. I have to admit I am using this to my advantage right now and I honestly can't see a way around it in the future. I am a DE. Each droid takes dozens of resources and components to build. This requires DEs to do factory runs of components. I have around 50 different components I need to make in factories and store while I process making droid builds. 3 component backpacks will fill a medium house. So, I need to have 15 or more medium houses so I can store items?

....

I'm keeping all my components in the Input hopper of my factories... I think it's a much more convenient solution than using a vendor.

Input hoppers only hold 100 items. Better deal that using a house, and more convenient than a vendor, but for high-volume crafters it's still woefully inefficient.

You'll note that all the top crafters on any given server do dozens and dozens of lot trades. A lot of that is just for storage.

Put in the vendor at say 5,000,000 and hope and pray they buy 'em!

I'm a master Artisan/Master architect and I feel that, until they grant Archs the right to more storage due to the fact that our factories take twice the space as all other factories and hold the same amount, I'm stuck with a storage vendor. I think that Archs should be able to erect a structure that holds 800 - 1000 units due to the fact that arch products require so many resources and subcomponents (some which don't stack in crates and some which only crate in 5's). My idea is that with the master arch skill, you be able to erect a warehouse structure to house your resources and subcomponents. This warehouse would have a spot for crafting so you don't have to look in 6 different hoppers for all the reources and components to make a schematic and load your factory. I think I'll post this idea on the arch forums too.

My storage vendor isnt a storage vendor at all. It just carries a range of top quality items, which anyone is welcome to buy. Strangely enough all of these quality, well made, hand crafted items are all priced at 99999999.

Hehe....that is true....even if you sell them at 1cr (for whatever reason) its still avalible to ANYONE. So I guess he is right....I guess its not a "storage" vendor....but just a normal...functioning as normal....Vendor. No matter what name you put on it, its still being used to sell something; regardless the cost.

Lol I sold a bag of 4 droid chassis worth around 25k for 99999 off my "normal" vendor. I was a little pissed about losing the chassis but definately happy about getting far more for them then a finished droid.

Up until last week, I just started Merchant, I only had the onevendor allowable by having Master Artisan. I am a master tailor for almost 8 months. I have tons of necessary subcomponents (most needed from a factory crate) for this trade. As a Master Artisan I need a ton of different, usually pretty expensive due to necessary stats, resources. I have 2 medium houses I use as resource storage.I use6 factories (5 wearables and 1 equipment) for component storage. I had to get a very gracious friend to let me use 6 of his lots ( for a fee each month and promises of deep discounts on my craftables)to put up a large house for my shop. I can't say that I have never used a vendor for storage of loot/resource/component before, however, like someone else posted here I had some items deleted after a time of being in the vendor and they were deleted with no chance of getting them back. Since then, it was around X-Mas, I have not used one and have just rented lots from folks that were willing and that I trusted. I'm not sure it's an exploit and don't really see why it would be. All i know is tht you should make sure to check item status often to insure you don't lose them.

Oh, are you referring to my "Specials" vendor? I place anything and everything on this one vendor. I actually price them for what I would sell it for and not cry. If it is crates of brandy, stims, 100k stacks, etc I price double what I paid for it. Very rarely someone buys something from it, but if they do I can easily double it now that they paid twice what I did.

My biggest problem is the resources and crates...100k is 1/10 what it should be. Simply put I think stacks should cap at 1mil and crates at 1000. Crate recombines should be allowed as well. And finally, oh dear god, please make functional furniture. A chest that holds say 20 items, that does not count against the structure item count. So what, some people will have 20 armoires in a room for storage.

Hmmm, storage, I hate storage in this game.. 250 items in a large house isn't even enough to decorate very well.. Anyway, enough about house storage here's an idea no doubt thought of a million times.

Architects get the ability to make the 'warehouse'

Warehouse has a single small room with a binary load lifter in it, you operate the load lifter and place the items you want to be placed into the warehouse into the load lifter 'in to stock' window and then close thewindowon the load lifter (like a bazzar terminal window but with no sale involved)

Once done a box appears on the load lifters forks and the load lifter walks off through a load lifter only door in the little room, out in to the actual warehouse (you see the interior but you can't go in)and puts your items in to storage then comes back out of the room ready to take more items or retrieve some, obviously if you want stuff out you do the same in reverse, check the 'in stock' section from the load lifter menu and tell it to go in the back room and get your stuff out then bring it out in the box on the forks.

Lets say the item limit on the warehouse was governed by architect experimentation and the quality of the resources used, with a base limit of 2500 items up to a maximum cap of 5000 items. The load lifter was a DE component and needed a warehouse module to be used with the warehouse and depending on the quality of module is the ammount of items it can hold before requiring to go and place the stuff in stock, say 100 base to 500 max, the droid is an actual component during the crafting phase of the warehouse. Lets say it takes 6 lots to place and is the same size as a large house in costs and footprint size, needs power to keep droid running too perhaps or you cant get stuff in our out, or droid batteries..

As I said probably been said before, but it would make sense to have a warehouse structure in game for mass storage if everyone in game wants a better system to store items... Wouldn't it ? Plus it would add content for more than one profession.

Combine that with better stacking on crates and hey presto, everyone's problems are solved.

The posts here are rather ironic in light of the dropping skills and keeping vendor threads.

The devs stated that dropping skills and keeping the vendors is not working as intended. They have also said that using vendors as storage was not intended either.

If doing something that the code allows but is not intended is considered an exploit then using vendors for storage (no matter how you justify it) is an exploit also.
