Confirmed, the Architects are getting hit with this. People selling items or orders over 500k are getting flagged, as are large tips. Even if you tip it right back. Even if you tip it to SOE-collector.

Just speculation...

But could this "credit duping" charge actually just be cover for SOE's stated desire to "break monopolies"?

In other words, a way to strategically eliminate wealthy players from the game?

Are they still banning people? Or have all the bannning been made. As far as I know I have not been banned. I sold several million worth of resources droping off severl hundred K to a million Credits worth at at a time.A guild member tipped me 1mil after a GDK hunt we were on. He looted 7-8 Scales and payed everyone 1mil as our cut. He took this money straight from the bank to pay me. Our city does not charge taxes, so I tipped the mayor 500k to help run things. If I recieved dupped credits anywhere along there, is our mayor going dissapear becasue some dupped credits were used to support it?

Oh man, if I get banned from someone buying off my vendors with bad credits after all I went through to get my stuff ready for the merchant patch I'm quitting. It's just one thing after another around here, isn't it?

I know that Thunderheart is already looking into this situation from earlier reports. Be patient. It is frustrating to be caught up in a net for something you are innocent of but they are trying to prevent a massive spread of duped credits into the economy.

Doc, ye goin' to have to use some of yer magic to keep people the patient and from a panic.

I would recommend that ye should (ye may have already done so... I dunno) inform Thunderheart that SOE/LA will need to make some announcement 'bout this matter to keep the customers inline.

Silence only makes people frustrated, open talks helps to put out fires.

I just sold a crate of 10 of buffpack sets and seem to still be around.

Even if I get banned, I'll take it in stride. I'd rather have that happen than let these clowns get away with it. You're all under-estimating the devasting effect credit dupes are to a game economy.

Besides, you should focus your anger to the asshaats who bought it with duped credits in the first place. Where is the outrage for those idiots??

The outrage is there. But I think the damage is extreme its Billions with a B on multiple servers maybe all servers.

mean while the economy is shutting down merchants are either banned or literally baracading their doors to keep duppers from using the shop.

i buy and sell normaly for 25 million the week can be that i spent 50+ million the week also it can be that i have sellings from 20+ million a day. average is selling for 1 to 4 million the day. sofar we had could loged on today but this is the stupieds thing i have ever seen they know the bug they know how to track it and need days to do it. think in real persons would have been hacked your bank. and they would not react imidiedly and wait a few days until it got spread. i cant belive this had happened as i saw the msg i feared that will happen

They could have tracked the credit dupers EARLIER. It could be done with checking the accounts. I do not even know how it's done, but it must be an amount of money coming from nowhere, so it can be tracked. And they could have introduced a code to warn them when an unusual activity occurs in someone's bank account, then track the activity, if it's source is not legit, ban them.

Where were these guys when people were selling 0.1 speedpistols or 0.1 speed VKs? or unserialed stuff? They were sold in these Trade Forums..which was supposed to be official..

Banning innocent people just because some credit duper **edit** bought some stuff from him is total BS.

Chaotic isnt it ?...this is what credit dupers do to our game, we need to work WITH the devs on this and that means reporting anything suspicious. Eventually we will as a collective remove the majority of the people that do this sort of thing and make the game better for everyone, I wouldnt be too surprised to learn that many of the restrictions that slow us down and prevent us from doing certain things are as a direct result of developers trying to stop dupers and there ilk...in short the dupers and other exploiters have been taking from ALL of us for a long time and i for one am sick of it.

I'm unconcerned that Merchants are banned, I am very concerned if innocent Merchants are banned. That has to be the stance of the community. But we shouldn't panic. The sad thing is that it seems guilty until proven innocent, not the reverse. Although it would help if the Devs told us what criteria was used to idenitfy those they banned, it might be that the criteria is more complex than simply receiving duped credits (maybe in conjunction with having admin rights on property owned by the dupers themselves or the reverse?)

I can respect that - most of us are children of democratic societies. However, I think everyone needs to understand that this type of approach IS required although it's unfortunate. I don't want to say that what SOEhas done is the only thing, but I can respect why and the need for this approach. Credit dupes are devasting - 100 times more devasting than bugs like the serialized and weapon speed issues that have been mentioned. This is a gaming economy and not the real world, there isn't a justice system that would make everything all right or corrected.

In other games I've played, I've seen roll backs happen to correct the situation which in my opinion is worse. This is how devasting it can be.

I can also understand why the criteria used to identify is not revealed. Think about itfor a second ... if these credit duping scumbags knew all the details, this would provide them with more information on how to circumvent the system and grief further.

If we as a community are not understanding, the alternative - rampant credit duping - will be more devasting to your game play enjoyment than being innocently banned. C'mon, if you're truly an inncent in all this, you'll get your account back.

Here's a thought ...how about a campaign against known dupers and banning them from your shop. Start listing names on individual server forums. Yes, I am advocating a witch hunt. I have absolutely no empathy for morons like this whether they participated in it directly or knowingly did it indirectly.

Let's focus the outrage in the forums to those that caused this issue in the first place.
