Thread: Premium sales business II
There's a thread elsewhere where a bunch of merchants and crafters want to establish a 'going rate' for items. Somebody suggested buying up all the 5 and 10 credit junk (by the way, do these morons even realize they're losing money?) and destroying it - or marking it up to market value and reposting it, if the market would support it.
It seems like a lot of money, but I make it a point to trash a few survival knives every time I shop. If we all chipped in 50 credits worth when we post our gear, we might be able to clean out the Bazaar.
I made a dozen daggers last night - four bootknives, four super-efficient fighting knives, and four super-lethal daggers. I hunted down duralloy to make sure they really were top-notch construction and built them at the Public crafting station so I could tweak them out. Then I built tweaked out Weapon Upgrades and applied those. My knives were GOOD. I posted a few of my 'Vipers' on the market as a premium auction, and found them on the fourth page, buried under piles of stone knives and survival knives.
What really burns me is that I really doubt some half-wit selling a fighting stick for 5 credits is going to spend 100 credits to get it a premium auction, so it's safe to say the auction does not even sort to the top.
It's ironic that the Artisan is billed as the class to pick if you like to turn a profit. The only people bringing money into the economy are the warriors who run missions. I can make more money in 20 minutes running missions then in three hours of crafting quality weapons. I ask ya, what kind of masochist would try to make a living as an artisan?
Qworg how does selling through a merchant change the fact that there is a broken skill, which is what we are discussing? Furthermore selling in person is great, its what I do and what I enjoy doing, however if I want I should have the ability to sell via the bazaar if only to use as an advertising mechanism for people on other planets to see I am out there and making good weapons. As it stands because premium sales doesnt work thats not even an option.

"Im a weaponsmith/merchant on wonder home and i make like 100k a day selling my weapons, I have close to 300 customers who regularly stop by."
Good for you. You're a weaponsmith. Weapons degrade. Weapons are grown out of.
Tailored items never degrade and you can find better and prettier items off mobs.
Droids never degrade.
Pets never degrads.
Weaponsmithing is a great field to be in to make money since people who buy your things constantly need your things and are the ones making money, but please don't think all the other professions are in the same situation, we're not.
