There will be some because the searching through the bazaar will be tedius and frustrating. 1000's of items all jumbled up with no way to sort the list globally (it only sorts per page) no way to find specific merchandise in crates or backpacks without spending hours looking at items you don't want. The whole system will be a nightmare so there will be some people who just avoid it. But it will still damage the profession quite a bit.

If the change goes through, I plan on staying off the system. I'll rely on my established customer base and friends for business.

I still can't believe how short-sighted this change is.

/sigh

I plan on keeping one vendor in the system for loot crap but anything crafted will be in my shop. Screw it I'm not playing this crappy system as they have described it. If it means I quit being a merchant then fine. I can sell a couple of hundred loot pieces on the new global vendor at Business IV.

Besides the obvious damage to the Merchant profession the negative effects of these changes will touch every part f the game.Just think about player cities, most of them revolve around mall and shopping areas. Think about all the Garva home show winners that are stores. No one will buy merchant tents, no one will buy droids with merchant barker modules, no one will have elaborate show rooms. No one will put upa storeout in the bonnies for remore players becauseit won't make a difference. What valuewill Master Merchant have? I have 8 vendors in 3 locations, why would I keep more then one? These changes need to be thought through. This isnot KOTOR ON-LINE.

The proposed system is total crap and I will not participate in it.

Dear SWG:

Artisian and Merchant professions ARE NOT BROKEN! Quit trying to "fix" them and concentrate on the COMBAT upgrade, which is VERY MUCH NEEDED at this point.

Galaxy wide browsing is fine, I'll even support the remote pickup if it costs the customer an extra 20% on the price (companies here in the real world charge for shipping). I'll even support the ability for players to purchase and send goods between each other for a shipping fee (Player A finds item, calls player B who buys it on site, and then "ships" it to player A for a fee). BUT THATS IT.

I've spent many long, boring hours clicking until I have carpal tunnel syndrome to make my Master Crafter characters. I don't want them destroyed!!!!!

I do want to be able to hunt, run quests, and have some FUN in combat though without having to spend half an hour getting stat and mind buffs - spending millions of credits on UBER sliced weapons and armor - and then still getting killed before my buffs run out.

Put the effort where it is most neeeded please...

Lets give the Devs a big round of applause for stirring us up on Friday and leaving us hanging all weekend.

This may have been stated by somebody but I don't have the time to read through this entire post. I too am not necessarily happy about these changes (even amended w/ insta delivery removed) but if this goes in it should not be allowed for all vendors. I say, tie it to merchant skills... Advertising III would be a good place. If you can advertise you vendor globally then you can have it searched globally. Players should need to spend some skill points to get something like this. Just giving it away is a slight to merchants and crafters all across the galaxies.

I don't think a buyer should be able to retrieve the item from anywhere in the galaxy. Not only does this hurt some merchants in the form of xp, but it negates the purpose of our Advertising skill tree. Fewer people will even bother shopping around like they do today, so shops everywhere will be empty.
I think most here are in favor of a galaxy-wide searching system, but at least make it so the item requires in-person pickup.

I should also add to my previous point that long-distance purchases are also a bad thing. A very, very, bad thing.

searches are probably a good idea, but buying? nope.

Spin the Bottle...

Dev 1 - damn it landed on me? Urm how about we say we're gonna introduce cool new mega Krayt spawns!!!

Group - Nah, already done that, and people wanted it anyway

Spin.....

Dev 4 - Ummm, Bring back Holocron grinding?

group - OOOOoo, cruel ye, but I don't think the boss'll go for that one.

Spin.....

Dev 6 - I need a poo, BRB

Spin.....

Dev 5 - lets introduce a Bazaar merchant system that lets players buy anything they want off merchant vendors, from that actual Bazaar!! That'll be good for a laugh...

Dev 6 - Hehe, that's Bazaar

Dev 2 - Yea, bazaar, he, hehe, hehehee he

Dev 3 - Anyone know how to stop runtime errors?

Dev 4 - Runtime what?

Dev 5- Heh, ok im off to post it on the site guys, you think they'll like it?

Group - They don't have a choice.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry if im not constructive, but im starting to believe that this actually could be similar to the way the new strike teams are making up stuff to throw in to justify their new positions. If you wanna make changes that impact players in a HUGE way, at least speak to the correspondents and get them to put them to us. Fair enough, Tiggs posted it on the forums - but to have it thrown in its own page on the main SWG Homepage, and told that I can test it out on TC means that this has already been pushed past concept and ready to be "de-bugged" on TC.

I'm a DE on Bria, so many people have said what I would say before so I'll just summarize: Non-crafters love this idea, crafters hate it. If this happens, my shop is closing, I just don't want to play in this kind of scenario.

Plain and simple.

That's what its all about.

My one-star rating proves it.

All for a VIRTUAL dollar...it is to laugh...

This isn't based on greed. Its based on killing an entire profession basically.

Master Merchant, the Whole Advertising Track, and the Whole Hiring Track are pretty much a waste to get if this change goes in.

Plus, what is to prevent Merchants from selling items at very low prices, then having a 50k entrance fee?

Global Search is a good idea, and to be able to get a wp to the item. But you should still have to go to the shop to purchase and pickup the item.
