There will be some because the searching through the bazaar will be tedius and frustrating. 1000's of items all jumbled up with no way to sort the list globally (it only sorts per page) no way to find specific merchandise in crates or backpacks without spending hours looking at items you don't want. The whole system will be a nightmare so there will be some people who just avoid it. But it will still damage the profession quite a bit.If the change goes through, I plan on staying off the system. I'll rely on my established customer base and friends for business.
I still can't believe how short-sighted this change is.
/sigh
I plan on keeping one vendor in the system for loot crap but anything crafted will be in my shop. Screw it I'm not playing this crappy system as they have described it. If it means I quit being a merchant then fine. I can sell a couple of hundred loot pieces on the new global vendor at Business IV.

The proposed system is total crap and I will not participate in it.
Artisian and Merchant professions ARE NOT BROKEN! Quit trying to "fix" them and concentrate on the COMBAT upgrade, which is VERY MUCH NEEDED at this point.
Galaxy wide browsing is fine, I'll even support the remote pickup if it costs the customer an extra 20% on the price (companies here in the real world charge for shipping). I'll even support the ability for players to purchase and send goods between each other for a shipping fee (Player A finds item, calls player B who buys it on site, and then "ships" it to player A for a fee). BUT THATS IT.
I've spent many long, boring hours clicking until I have carpal tunnel syndrome to make my Master Crafter characters. I don't want them destroyed!!!!!
I do want to be able to hunt, run quests, and have some FUN in combat though without having to spend half an hour getting stat and mind buffs - spending millions of credits on UBER sliced weapons and armor - and then still getting killed before my buffs run out.
Put the effort where it is most neeeded please...

Not only does this hurt some merchants in the form of xp, but it negates the purpose of our Advertising skill tree. Fewer people will even bother shopping around like they do today, so shops everywhere will be empty.I think most here are in favor of a galaxy-wide searching system, but at least make it so the item requires in-person pickup.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I should also add to my previous point that long-distance purchases are also a bad thing. A very, very, bad thing.

/agree
searches are probably a good idea, but buying? nope.
I think most of these ideas suck donkey balls.

Greed.
Plain and simple.
That's what its all about.
My one-star rating proves it.
All for a VIRTUAL dollar...it is to laugh...
This isn't based on greed. Its based on killing an entire profession basically.
Master Merchant, the Whole Advertising Track, and the Whole Hiring Track are pretty much a waste to get if this change goes in.
Plus, what is to prevent Merchants from selling items at very low prices, then having a 50k entrance fee?
Global Search is a good idea, and to be able to get a wp to the item. But you should still have to go to the shop to purchase and pickup the item.
