Whenever anything is successful people will inevitably try to see what elements lead to that success and emulate them. In this case I think its premature because the long term health of WoW isn't assured by a long shot. WoW's vulnerabilities all have to do with being able to sustain membership over the long term. Over the short term its an excellent game. The longer you play the less you care about the game in my experience. SWG is different and should remain different. I understand though that they are trying to capture more of the market short term while keeping them long term. Its a good goal. I'm worried about their ability to pull it off though and I think some of the recent changes are questionable..

One thing is very clear with all these changes: They've really got to try and fix how factory crates are tagged. We've only got a small fraction of Eclipse's Merchants registered, and we already have over 2600 listings of factory crates, with no way at all to sort them by content.

Ok. The Current Test Center build has the "Bid" amount on the listing so you can view and sort by price. HOWEVER, the buy button is gone from the details screen. You can now only view the details and get a waypoint to the vendor. You cannot buy items remotely and pick them up.

I'd much rather have the Buy option than the Price/Bid one.

This is bad. he ability to run a business is one of the pluses that SWG has over other games. Running a business should be an option everybody has, not just a few. The new system will make it so only the best or the cheapest will sell. This will push many people out of business. People will not be able to play their chosen playstyle.

A global search system is needed, that is for sure. Remove the prices and the stats, give better sorting options and the current one will let people find items, while still making it so people can run a business.

I still don't think a global search network is needed at all. Why is it so hard to imagine that one might have to track down the rarest deals on one's servers?

instead of this, I wish they wouldn't given more incentive to use the auction channel.

Also, I don't think this or the CURB is going to kill the game, it's the fact the Devs tricked us into thinking they wanted 2 way communication, gave it to us to tease us, and then took it away.

I've already seen the influx of people coming back from WoW. Everything has its honeymoon. IMO, it is going to take a game that creates communities to take on SWG. Star Trek appears to be heading there.

The saddest thing I see is the devs aggregating from the games strength to the actual weaknesses of their competition. Amazing.

Its easy to get lured in by the numbers wow got out of the gate. But I don't think they can't maintain them. I certainly didn't see anything near the community there that exists here. It would be a shame to ruin the community here that has become the thing that makes this game different.

I, personally, don't expect a mass exodus to MxO.

Have you played that thing??!? Ugh!

I don't think people will leave for MxO, I think they will just leave. With SOE stooping comunication to us, getting rid of Canadryll and Tyrant (Tyrant without a word said), we are drifitng into an iceberg with a captianless ship.

Right now, we need the devs to communicate like never before to re-assure us SWG is going to be around for the long haul-look at all the rumours in the CU thread at how many professions will be hurt-we need them to talk to us.

This thread is no differernt. Don't ask for a "Focus Test", change things without any explanation or re-assurance to crafters/merchants.

They need to explain to us how we can use this effectively against price dumpers, undercutters etc.

Silence doesn't serve any purpose other to fuel rumors.

For me, as a crafer, I really worry about how the Architect that is going out of business, is going to hurt the dedicated crafters or the architect that is a dedicated undercutter. These are real concerns that should have been thought through on the dev level before the changes-along with most of the other discussions here-where the heck are the devs insight?

Well, I prefered the buy option (with price in the details) and having to pick the item up, but I know I'm in the minority here. I can live with this however.

Going to be a few heart palpitating dashes to some vendors though to get the deals.

Oh, and I know people will say TC is different, but I have to add my sales there have never been better than since galaxy wide vendor search went in. It makes me hopeful.

I kind of doubt there will be a lot of good deals for the average buyer using this system, since the 'professionals' will just stand by the terminal all day clicking 'refresh' in a particular category. I wouldn't even be surprised if guilds were to create special terminal squads for this specific purpose. Seriously. It could be just like Nyax/etc. campers.

Did they fix any bugs? Did they fix the categories?
