1. Ah, the ongoing exploit debate, here are my thoughts (for what they're worth)...
So you get to be a good merchant, hey maybe even a great one, and you place you nice new shiney slim terminal (or hire an attractive shop assisstant). Things are on the up
Then you hit hard times, maybe you need to rethink your profession, should you lose your nice shop and terminals/staff? No, of course not. But why would the attractive assisstant stay with a businessman whos down on his luck? Easy, she wants more money, and your terminal leasing company are demanding higher maintenance fees.
How it could work: When you access you vendor, there is check to see what level you can operate against the level of the vendor. For each skill box away from the required level you are the maintenance price is doubled. This means if you dont touch the vendor is will eventually dissappear, if you do keep it its gonna cost you more - but thats fair.
For example: you place a slim terminal (level 4). If your maintenance payment was 10 per hour when you placed the terminal (for ease of calculations), dropping the top skill box doubles the payment to 20 per hour. Dropping another skill box doubles this 20 to 40 per hour and so on.
seems to me to bea fair and balanced solution - who is exploiting who?
Now I don't want to get into the whole merchant XP thing here, but just want to point out AFK entertainers, macro looters and macro surveying - the player isn't there but he/she is getting xp. It all seems balanced to me
Oh, and yes, I am a merchant as well as a crafter

Is 1. even still an issue? I thought that merchants who dropped skills can no longer operate their vendors, and that this happened concurrently with vendors being nerfed to hold fewer items.

I have noticed that when you launch into space your barker droid gets picked up from the ground. I want to be up in space during primetime but without my droid on the groundit'sdifficult to get the word out about my business and still join flight groups. Has anyone else noticed this problem?

I also remember being able to have a barker droid on one planet while having a combat droid out on another, but that is not possible now. This makes harvester runs dangerous, and makes crafting on the fly impossible as you can't have a crafting droid out either.

Issue for Merchant/ShipWrights
Certification levels for ship components are not visible in the "Sell an Item" dialog box. Since I price by component level, it makes ita linger process for me to prmote items from the stockroom. To get by this I have to examine the items before I sell it.

New issue. Has been happening since Publish 11. If I spend 30 minutes, or so, with the vendor interface open (working with Stock room items) my connection to Galaxies drops. I never lose connection at any other time while playing, just when doing Vendor stuff.

Hi Doc great list
I've not been a merchant that long but two things I have found which I have come across is a re-stock feature which I think I've seen brought up a few times. My biggest thing is a central control if you have multiple vendors to allow you to transfer stock from one vendor to another.
I've had issues before where one of my vendors runs dry and I have to go an withdraw stock from one, fly halfway across the galaxy to the de-pleating vendor to stock it.
I apologise if these have been brought up before.

McSassy,
This is not the normal timeout shutdown that takes you back to the CHaracter selection screen. This is a "Connection to SWG lost" problem. I can stand inactive without the vendor interface open for about 45 minutes without getting this message, but with the vendor interface open it is 20-30 minutes and then I am kicked from the game.
My experience with the inactivity shutdown is that even the slightest mouse movement aborts the timer. Normally in that case you have gone AFK after some period of time before the game exits; that is not happening here.

I would be in favor of IDing your vendor being given by Hiring 3 since Hiring 4 allows you to accessorize and dress them.

I'd like to see a business account tab added to the bank terminal for Master Merchants.
To clairify:
1) Master Merchant accesses the radial menu at a bank terminal.
2) Said Merchant clicks "Open Business Account" which opens another window.
3) The new window has an admin option for adding player "partners" to the account.
4) Primary acct holder (the Master Merchant who set up the acct,) then indicates which vendors will be included on the business acct. (This will require a tab added to the vendors radial menu or a list of owned vendors by acct members on the bank menu.)
5) All funds generated by indicated vendor sales are deposited into the business acct.
6) All deposits or withdrawls from said business account will send a gmail notification to all account members.
Results:
This implimentation would keep company funds seperate from personal funds and give a more "business-like" feel to the game. It would also make a company like "Gizmo's Unlimited" (mine,) and actual company and not just several several individual players using the same business name.
This would also be usefull for using company funds to buy company components and not confusing it with personal funds.
Tracking all of this from a "multi-person" business point of view with the existing game mechanics is a major pain in the tushy! Not to mention the expense of bank tipping fees to reimburse your employee or partner for purchased parts, etc...
Questions? Comments? Concerns?
P.S. My RL GF mentioned that if this goes over well, then a chunk of the same code could be used as a "Joint Account" for married couples or alt characters.
