I'm curious how many other people are currently halting their restocks and business growth in light of the vendor cap as currently proposed for Publish 10? Considering I have 6 vendors (many with 500+ items each) that are well-stocked all the time, I'm hesitant to continue producing product to stock them with if it all gets taken away when Publish 10 hits live. Basically I'd be stuck with 1000s of items to find a place for or sell at a loss once the "auctions" end on the vendor after the publish. Considering the sheer number of merchants/crafters that will be in a similar position I can't imagine it being easy to sell anything during that initial transition time because of the great mass of sell-it-now items that will be out there.
Guess what I want to know is am I overreacting by stopping my business now in order to give myself a bit more time to sell off my current stock and not make any more? Or are there others who feel the same way?

I've halted activity, yes.
I would need to sell off or destroy over 2000 items before I could even think about adding another vendor. If this goes through I could add the vendor but not be able to do anything with it because I am over my limit. The only thing I could do is remove the items I want to keep if I have a place to store them, which I don't, remove the money and destroy the vendor with the rest of the stuff still on it.
If I have to do that I will be using that other button, the one that says, "cancel," for both my accounts.

This is not even funny.. MANY artistians I know are currently liquidating stock. Since I sell Sliced weapons.. I'm now tossing out any slice that is not above 20%... If thos goes through.. all slices not 30% or more will be tossed and prices will be raised so high the noob player that is just getting started will not be able to afford my prices.
IDK how many accounts will quit if this goes live.
They pulled this SAME thing way back when they limited houses to 25 per lot... then then "temporarily" fixed it to 75 per lot but Large houses only get 200 and guild halls 250.. which is STILL not 75 per lot. SOE has not even fixed it yet.
DO NOT GIVE IN... DO NOT SETTLE FOR ANOTHER LOW-BALL NUMBER. 1000 per vendor at master (6000 total acrodd 6 vendors)is the ABSOLUTE minium for Master Merchants.. other wise the master merchant class cannot re-sell wares formore than one artisian.
Thisstill hasme steaming.. i will continue to spam my customers this problem.

this wont affect the people with multiple accounts (merchant bots) and with only one crafting prof too much i dont think, however it probably will affect those who run several businesses a bit more so. who this relally hurts are those with one account or starting players who have to compete with those with multiple accounts. I forsee several kinds of crafters being created out of this situation:
1. Elite crafters who already own or will own multiple accounts to handle all their own personal needs without having to go through a middle man ie merchant to do their work and get charged commission fee.
2. secondary market for 'average' crafter, less output capacity than the elite crafter but could still challenge them in sales depending on their niche/aadvertsing campaign/location. Merchant's (if there are really any out there) will end up being loan sharks for the secondary crafting market.I forsee additional costs for the secondary market in the form of comissions and costs for stocking. I
n addition to this the 'average' crafter in this scenerio will have to put up with daily hassals of getting the merchant to stock on time as needed and finally the possibility of theft. I see this as big scams waiting to happen, people grinding up merchant to go into 'business' with someone and when getting their stock of valuables, taking off, deleting char, seling on ebay, return to game with new char, repeat. etc. THIS HAS HAPPENED several times on valcyn already. Or scnerio in which people getangry someone else and they 'accidently' delete their stock etc. elite crafters do not have to deal with these issues much (if at all) however the average crafter will face these crisis every day.
These are non issues for people with multiple accounts in the new system, or with the current system as is.

Yes, I've stopped crafting all together. I dont think there's any way I'll get rid of the weapons and loot items I have now before the publish. I'm lowering my prices to rock bottom. I may not even break even as I may have to lower prices again and take a loss just to move these items and not lose them as I have nowhere to store them other than on my vendors. This is VERY short notice. I don't know whey SOE didn't tell us this was coming sooner. Did they just decide to do this at the last minute? Did they just not think about the impact such a short notice would have on the crafting comunity? Did they just not care? I've always supported SOE in EVERY decision they have ever made about changes in the game. I could always see thier point of view and see how it would better the game in the long run. But, this last nerf with the item caps has really thrown me for a loop. I'm beginning to wonder if they just don't care. This angers me tremendously. We'll see what happens. Maybe they can postpone the nerf untill at least the next mini-publish after hearing our perdicament. If not then I'll know they dont give a rats ass and it will be bye bye for me. I'm not gonna be here for them to do it to me again later on down the road.

I have three master merchant accounts. Two are from *adopted* accounts and one is my second account that was bought to be merchant to my master bio engineer.
I was playing with the idea of starting a mall in our empty guild hall and this has decided the factor. However, my furniture vendor became a paintings vendor, my pet supplies vendor became a pet meds vendor (no pet foods). My bio-cloths vendor is no more. All extra stock was thrown on bazzar for a fraction of it's value or put in the guild hall basement for guildies to take free of charge as needed.
I'm focusing on vendors with one product that I can easily make and easily keep in stock. Backpacks, repair kits, spice, swoops... along with my tailor tissue crates and chef nutrient crates that rarely went over 110 anyways.
So far that's how I'm dealing with this. Though I will admit my prices are sky high, but I really don't want to be restocking every 5 minutes *shrugs*
Prices and vendors can be changed if things go better in the publish than indicated.

Business as usual until this actually goes live, at which point I'll decide if I want to continue crafting (not likely) or continue playing (maybe not).

Sorry to repost the entire thing, but I'm getting exhausted at this point and don't want to pick apart, either
It DOES affect people with multiple accounts though, even if they are only trying to provide merchant space for one elite crafting class. With the limits as proposed you have to have AT LEAST one merchant per advanced crafting class in order to have any kind of stock on hand and available to the customer. Take a class like tailor or armorsmith that has multiple items/colors that coordinate with each other and you're looking at possibly needing more than that.
The only option is for crafters to become "specialized" of a sort. A tailor that only makes pants or only makes shoes. An armorsmith that only makes composite or ubese. A weaponsmith that only makes melee weapons or pistols. This kind of specialization isn't going to help the customer base much, because you'll see specialized crafters all specializing in the same things....the ones that make money.
But the initial question still stands. I haven't YET sent out an e-mail to my customers alerting them that I'm stopping operations until this is sorted out (the only way to lessen the blow if this does hit live), but I don't feel comfortable in making more items until this is resolved. Only being able to carry 600 items across 6 vendors with what I currently have in merchant (that extra 10 for master isn't really worth it when we're talking a decrease from an average of 500 items per vendor) will kill my business as is. And as a tailor, I get annoyed enough with the vague and demanding requests I often get. I'm not about to make my entire SWG experience to be dealing with that kind of time sink on a daily basis. Keeping up on harvesters and stocking is more than enough to keep me occupied.
And I'll be bored to tears as strictly combat

Not restocking at this time and my /afk messages tells customers why. I will decide when this is "finalized" whether to continue crafting or not.

I have stopped restocking my furniture vendor, and have it barking an apology to that effect for my customers, explaining that its well over the proposed item limits and won't be restocked until the limits have been raised.
I'm not liquidating just yet though, as I do have faith that the limits will be raised ... its just a matter of by how much.

I've been slowing down, with this potential coming, I'm effectively stopping - custom orders only until I read otherwise about this nerf.
