I would like to see, merchant get a skill point cost similar to the one given to image designer.

allowing some one to have master entertainer, musician, dance, & ID all at the same time.

as a pure crafter, and i admit it might be difficult to concentrate on more than one crafting profession at once.

i would like to be able to hold master artisain/merchant and 2 other crafting professions. for some variaty to my vendors.

to help with those stores that maybe has just the one person upkeeping them. multiple types of items are just good business.

And I look at that exactly as I look at the reduction for ID...

Taking away points to make a profession 'more easy' to master

in my eyes, reduces the validity of even having it as a profession.

When you are constaly trying to defend your profession,
and explain to people this is how you make your creds...

making it so even more people can enter the feild without being dedicated to it..

*sigh*...I could go on for awhile..

I would like SOE to stop screwing with the one thing that is working in the game (economy) and fix the damn bugs. Bet I wait longer than you.

BTW, I'd also like incentive to purchase the pre-release for the new expansion for my 8 family accounts other than more destruction of my game play, refusal to listen to customers, and continued silence from the devs.

They already have reduced the SP requirement.... They are taking 14 points off next publish (after all whats the point of the advertising line any more)

Hearhear! Why do they do the opposite of what we, who know the economy and keeps it floating, want them to. They seem to be on a nerfing spree against crafters and merchants, while they cuddle the fighters 24/7. Did they recruit the new devs from the counterstrike-team?

I am annoyed!

Every Crafter Template (or combat template for that matter) I can think of would be much more useful with 20 more points to play with. Whats the point tho? Its a multiplayer game and economy if you need a skill your template can't afford to have make contact with a player that compliments your skills and work with them.

Considering they're requiring an extra 14 points for all combat professions except Commando and BH, they might as well just trim points off of all of the Elites. Really. Rangers, Doctors and Combat Medics are especially hard hit by this; by the time they master their profession plus one other Elite, they have all of 19 points left--just enough for one "fun Novice" profession or some FS boxes. With the change, they're pretty much hosed on that.

I do not want it to be easier to master Ranger, Doctor, Medic--or Merchant or ID--you choose those professions, you make a choice. I just don't want it to be that much harder.

The difference with ID and Merchant is this.

With ID, you really don't get much as you level up. What makes Skin Color more higly valued then Hair Design? Tatoos more then Hair color? In Image design you just get more things to do, you really don't get more powerfull.

With Merchant though, you go get more as you level up. The Master box gives you more vendors and items. Don't get me wrong, I know Merchant needs a lot of love. It needs to be made better not cheaper though.

Except that with the global search, none of it will matter anymore except the item limit.

I'd rather tham make merchant worthwhile on its own rather than just something that all crafters need to sell their items. I want to play a merchant, I want to buy and sell but it's almost impossible because almost all crafters wish to sell their items themselves. I don't want merchant to become cheaper to master.

There needs to be a way for a merchant to be better at selling stuff than a crafter can by making it so that a master of an elite crafting proffesion cannot get all of merchant. I want to buy and sell, run a shop, but I simply cannot in the present state of things.

IMO, and I'm new here, merchant is a critical support function to crafting professions. In light of this, it seems to make sense to have a lower SP requirement.

that's just my thoughts on it.

By that reasoning, you could say weapons are essential to combat types,so let them make their own.

Crafters do want to sell their own stuff, I know I do, but the Merchant profession was, from what I understand, intended to be just that--a Merchant one. Not just a Crafter Direct Sales one. The idea was for crafters and Merchants to be interdependent, with Merchant selling Crafter's stuff, be it with a wholesale purchase or on consignment.

Thing is, there's absolutely no built-in tools to facilitate that sort of relationship, and there is zero recourse if things go bad and someone gets screwed. So it just makes more sense for the crafter to get some Merchant skills to sell their own stuff.

Only now, they need less of those skills.

In the past, if they wanted to have their shops on the overhead map or planetary map, they'd need to invest more skill points or contract with a Merchant. But now, they will get the exact same advertising skills as us, and it's not local or planetary, it's better than anything we ever had. It's galactic. They can have one or two floaty droid/terminal vendors and get the exact same advertising as us, but without the cost. More sales, less SP.

So... No. I don't think Merchant needs a (further)Skillpoint reduction. If they want to sell more items or have more attractive vendors than Business IV or Novice lets them, let them make a deal with a professional Merchant.
