I'm assuming that empty means 0 items? I've thought about this a lot and I realize there's no easy solution. An empty vendor could easily just be filled with junk to maintain their place on the global list. That doesn't help shoppers who are getting frustrated at needing to stop at 72 shops before they find one useful item. But it's a start.

A lot ofthe vendors that are empty are likely that way because the owner hasn't been there in weeks to fill them up. This will fix that. It won't fix everything but it will remove those dead vendors from the map.

TH said publish 9 but I believe he misstated. I believe this fix is still slated for a mini publish between 9 and 10..9.2 I think but I'll confirm and get back to you.

When a vendor is de-listed from the map is does NOT loos its "rank" in the list so to speak. For a while, I ran a stim-pack vendor for a doctor, when it ran out of stim's I removed it from the planetary map, and changed the add bark to say that it was temporary out of stim's. One the doc had made more stim and delivered them, I re-registries the vendor on the map and it did not appear at the bottom, it was a bit up the list.
Therefore, I would say that vendors ate sorted in the list after when they was placed, and not after when they was registries on the map.

Which is fine as long as the list goes to 10 instead of 40. People are going to select primarily based on location on the map rather than location in the list, but right now, it's common to see lists of 40 or more vendors in some categories, and I am sure that many good vendors do get lost in the middle of the long lists.

Of course recently I've had more luck with going to vendors that are most recently recently registered. I figure those at the top registered pre-holo grind (and therefore *might* have good stock), those at the end registered recently enough that they probably have some stock (though it might not be great) and all those in the middle are empty hologrinder vendors (which isn't at all fair, but I can't go to them all).

If there are 10 vendors and I can guarantee that they a) have some inventory and b) that the owner of the vendor still has advertising 3, then I have a decent amount of confidence that it's a good vendor (of course the statement at the fanfast didn't address advertising-3).

Wouldn't it be nifty if the planetary map listing provided metrics on the last time the vendor had new stock added, the number of items in stock, and stuff like that?

I would settle for number of items in stock and average price per item.
