Thread: Backpacks on Vendors

As many of you know containers on vendors on TC currently count as 1 item towards the sales item limit. This was obviously not intended and I have confirmed with JustG that it won't remain that way. It might not get changed before publish 10 gets released however VERY soon the total items in the container will count against your item limit cap.

This really was the only way to do it, it makes no sense to set item limits and then give people a way to store 50x that number in containers.

Edit: Please don't use packs to store things on your vendor above the limit of the items you can have in the mean time. You will only get frustrated when theyh fix it and having informed you in advance the sympathy level will be rather low. You can still use backpacks of course just realize that when this gets changed if you are over the limit you will have to reorganize things to get back under the limit.

Is it safe to assume that a factory crate will still count as one item?

Oh good god. Not good enough they removed the only tool folks had to try to deal with a system that requires high storage but doesn't support it from 'the great unwashed masses' - now they are doing it to folks that have the skill?

I don't suppose they ever took into consideration the acceptance of any item limits at all were with this method in mind. Yeah, it wouldn't have solved their problem, but this doesn't either - folks do that because they NEED the storage.

Ya know - if they wanna kill the game and put it out of it's misery - one nice clean shot thru the temple would be perferable to death from 10,000 paper cuts.

Honestly, I would like to see a Red Name address the storage issue. I think almost everyone would. Why will they not comment on the MAJOR issue most of us have with storage? I find it highly unlikely that they are ignorant of our complaints, yet they ignore it. Are they cowards? Are they afraid of what we will say if they finally just friggin tell us why we have such sad storage limits? Are they going to address this issue before the end of the year? Or are they going to continue to ignore it until they bring about this mysterious "Lot Rebalance" (which I am sure is just another way to limit our storage).

What is the friggin problem if I have 1 Large House with 600 items in it(if we had better storage per lot) instead of3 small houses with (the pathetic current) 450 items in it? Same lot useage,close item count, but one way causes lag for every other player that passes by as it loads and unloads.

STOP IGNORING THIS ISSUE AND COMMUNICATE WITH US!

Is anyone else upset about the changes they propose to make with merchant? I dont do the backpack thing but use a couple of vendors to store items on. Just for my furniture vendor alone I have about 300 items for sale on it.

=======================================================================

Bazaar/Vendor

  • Vendors that are empty will no longer be visible on the planetary map (Ctrl-V).
  • Vendors that have been left empty or abandoned for two weeks will be deleted (owner will receive a warning message prior to deletion).
  • Email notifications have been added to advise vendor owners of the status of their vendor.
  • Fixed a bug that caused items to sometimes vanish from vendors.
  • Vendor item limits will now be based on player skill. (Players over either limit will not be able to add new items for sale on vendors).

Artisan Business 3 Get (1) Vendor, that will hold (50) items, for a total of (50) items for all vendors
Merchant Novice Get (2) Vendors, that will hold (60) items, for a total of (120) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 1 Get (3) Vendors, that will hold (70) items, for a total of (210) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 2 Get (4) Vendors, that will hold (80) items, for a total of (320) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 3 Get (5) Vendors, that will hold (90) items, for a total of (450) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 4 Get (6) Vendors, that will hold (100) items, for a total of (600) items for all vendors
Merchant Master Get (6) Vendors, that will hold (110) items, for a total of (660) items for all vendors

I got this information off of the swg.stratics.com website. If this is true what exactly are we suppose to do with all of our stuff? Being a master architect and weaponsmith I have to carry a ton of resources and preassembled items made from a factory. I see several problems with this sinse storage on vendors is going to be limited, what exactly are we suppose to do with all of out stuff? And, wouldnt this kill the merchants making it near impossible to find items you are looking for?

Will we get an increased storage capacity for our houses? It would be nice to add a search utility for items you are looking for. I waste so much time as it is looking for stuff.

And while I am at it There are several other changes that would be nice to have.

1) allow furniture placement on decks/patios of our houses.

2) add a search or screening utility for missions

3) add a way that CH people could add their tamed pets to a vendor.

4) add search for elite profession trainers

5) increase lots or item count maximums for houses

Any thoughts?

Welcome to last week.

That info is horribly out of date.

Sooo, 25 suits of armor on a master merchant vendor? That is unacceptable. I'm selling it as one item, it should only count as 1 item.

When a game becomes work it's no longer fun.

They fixed those numbers above i do believe. I am sure i read a post saying master merchant will get 12 vendors and can store 4000 items.

So you can store more than 25 suits

If that is true that we will get space for 4000 items then I appologize for the over-reaction. After a bad day of grinding profession number 29 and destroying my comp chest plate and weapon while trying to repair them I read that and was about ready to scream. lol

Dear god, this is driving me to drink.

One of the key assumptions for me when determining the viability of the new item limitation was the ability to continue the practice of "bundling" products; i.e., buffpacks, etc. Not storage ... bundling.

Why do I bundle? Two reasons;

1. From a customer perspective, it's an easy purchase. Instead of having to hunt around to make sure they buy all the right stats and that they are the same power (# of charges, power, etc) - all they need to do is buy ONE item that has done everything for them. One 'bundled' package.

2. From my perspective; it maximizes my inventory. Everytime I sell them seperately (out of the set), I always end up with waste. Example: Someone would go in and buy 5 Action buffs and nothing else, leaving me high and dry for 5 sets of buffpacks. It's one of the key reasons I started doing it in the first place.

I don't give a damn about increased storage. I want to the ability to continue the practice of bundling. If they are insistent on removing it, then have them introduce something new that will help. Perhaps the abiltiy to crate without requiring it to be the same product.

They need to understand that there are LEGITIMATE uses. Why do players who try their best to play within the rules both directly and within the spirit of the game, keep getting bloody smacked down.

::::sigh::::

This is NOT going to accomplish anything for them. It has been stated by a dev that the practice of items in a buffpack are lighter on the database than having houses used as storage. What do the devs expect to happen, that everyone will start deleting their items? ... or that they'll find a way for more lots and drop more small houses / factories for storage?

Nothing like snatching defeat from jaws of victory! :::golf clap::::
