Thread: Can someone please simply tell me something

I have a few simple questions for merchants.

1) When is this so-called vendor exploit being fixed Publish 10,11 Sep 2003 like my smuggler fixes orafter the SE because everything has to revolve around jedi at the moment?

2) What changes are happening to the business tree to go with the vendor change. I wish to have 1 NPC vendor that looks good. Can I either dress this vendor once or get an ID to give my vendor a makeover or do I have to spend an extra 20 or 30 skill points on Vendor Types and uniforms just to have it look nice?

3) What services can a merchant offer me other then taking a percentage of my profits because I can't justify the RL expense of a 2nd account?

4) Puts sarcastic screwed over Smuggler hat on and asks the community are they going to be happy with only coke machine vendors?

well. I am sure you will get flamed at some point. These forums are great for that. so before they throw their eggs, I will try to answer

1. I don't think there has been any actual date associated with the removal of poached vendors. I think the DEVs are kinda avoiding the outcry it is going to cause. As long as they say they are working on it, they could potentially put it off until the few 'true' merchants die of old age. hehe. There is supposedly a patch going in soon, that will remove vendors from the planetary map if their inventory is zero. I think it is going in sometime after patch 9? It is in the fanfest topic someone posted here.

2. As it is now, if you just want to have one vendor that has good fashion sense... go up the hiring tree to hiring 4, dress your vendor, and then surrender those skills. You will still be safely within the limits of any future patch if you at least keep business 3. As far getting a good looking one, that is still a random chance thing that requires clicking over and over until you see one you like.

3. A merchant cannot really offer anything, except a small 20% discount on maintenance fees if you place them as admin. But to get them the goods to stock on the vendor they put up for you, you still have to do a lot of work. More so than is really worth it when you consider that if you are already artisan it only takes 9 points to get your own vendor and then you are in control of everything.

4. I think most people will be just fine with only one vendor when it comes down to it. Until they place an item limit on them, and then everyone will get a secondary account or use their secondary character slot/jedi for their merchant.

Silly wookiee, stop that! It's takes all the fun out of it if you let them know what I'm going to do.

But what the heck,

Well,

With the trend of every profession depentant on the other, i.e the whole ID thing and migrating stats.

They should remove the 1 Vendor from the Artisan tree, and you must be Merchant to sell wares, plain and simple.

We've had that debate almost since the first day this forum was active. I dont' agree that there shouldn't be a vendor at Artisan. I do agree that it is too competitive with merchant vendors. There should be more clear cut reasons to use merchant skills rather than just "do it yourself" with the bulky vendor. Those incentives could be in the number of items you can sell or the cost of running the vendor. But there needs to be a better reason to use a merchant than there currently is.

Thanks DragonScout may even be the best reply I have ever had to a question in that you actually tried to answer them even if it was a simple we don't know yet.

Dingo can I have some bacon as well please or do I need Hiring 3 to get bacon and eggs and if i get efficieny 2 can I have coffee as well.

Also without a vendor in Artisan tree you would need crafting xp to get to novice merchant which would prove Merchant was never designed to be a stand-alone profession. (Not after more flames I know that topic has been beaten to death but like the Phoenix keeps rising from the dead)

I am not a hardcore Role player but I would still rather deal with vendors that have had some effort put into their appearance rather than coke machines and as such I would like the see the skill trees shuffled so you can get a themed vendor at lower points but dabblers get no efficiency gains or other cost savings perks. You want a nice vendor you pay in operating costs not skill points, you want more vendors then you pay in skill points.

Most of the wanna-be Merchants might be fine with a single vendor...but a Mega-Merchant (like my two characters) would have a stroke if they only had one vendor. My Architect vendor alone has over 1000 items for sale on it. Not to mention the poor customer who has to page through everything to find what they are looking for. Perhaps they should add some sort of a Search feature (like in the EverQuest Bazaar) so patrons can search a vendor for items.

I refer to myself as a Mega-Merchant because I have 11 accounts with Master level characters in every profession that can craft something Could you imagine what that vendor would look like?

11 accounts?!? Is that a typo? Please tell me it is, or that they are accounts shared with a group of people? Cuz I honestly can't even fathom that one..

I really can't imagine that people would be able to complain about that with a straight face. I mean, it's absurdly obvious that you shouldn't be able to keep skills related to any class after you leave that class. I dropped Pistoleer and never once have I thought "Gosh, I should still be able to pistol whip!" Are people really that stupid that they'd complain that they can't exploit like that anymore?

Yes.

Many.
