Thread: Current Merchant (Vendor) Issues

I may be one of the first to have a house and vendor up and running on the live servers, so I'll kick things off with a list of issues I've found thus far:

  • Vendor wares are not appearing on the Bazaar Terminals. There is no way for customers to find what's for sale on a vendor unless they go to the vendor terminal itself. Pretty sure this is a bug.

  • Items purchased from a vendor cannot be retrieved. When purchasing the items, the transaction appears to go through successfully to both the buyer and the seller. Money exchanges hands appropriately. However, when the buyer attempts to retrieve the item from the terminal, it informs him that there are no items to retrieve. Likewise, the seller cannot recover the item in any fashion. The item poofs. Big issue here, as it renders vendors completely useless right now, other than for exploiting and griefing people and taking their cash.

  • Merchant Experience seems to be painfully slow still, although I have yet to do much testing with it. I placed two items on my vendor and was getting about 5 experience per hour. I then had a friend go buy the items (which poofed) and I then stopped getting any experience. If the rate is a constant 5 per hour regardless of how many items are available for sale, then it will take 42 days just to reach Novice Merchant. Ouch.

  • The 'bulky' style terminal cannot be moved like regular furniture in the house, even before it has been initialized. This means that placing it is pretty much hit or miss, as the direction its facing and its actual dropped location seem to vary quite often.

That's it for now. Hope these issues get addressed soon, as it won't be long until my friends and I will be able to sell goods that are worth much more than the 3,000 credit limit on the Bazaar would allow us to price them. This will greatly effect an already shaky and unstable young economy. Thanks for reading.

  • Premium instant sales and auctions show no different than any other instant sale/auction.

The single most important issue right now is our exp. One of devs really screwed this up. we are getting 5 exp per HOUR! i have had my vendor up for several hours now and i am getting 5 exp per HOUR regardless of how many items i have in the vendor. Both my house and my vendor are well payed.

This has made the Merchant profession unplayable and is a serious A issue. We need a fix to this ASAP.

Vendor wares are not appearing on the Bazaar Terminals
- The workaround for this is to tell people about your store and email them the waypoint.

Items purchased from a vendor cannot be retrieved
- This one just plain scares me as it was not an issue at the end of beta. If true, there is not much a merchant can do. My store is opening tonight, I will test and report back.

Hi!

My company, Outlander Droids, had our store up and running on Ahazi around 9:30 PM CDT last night. There are a few more critical issues with vendors that you should know about:

  • The inability to rotate and move vendors is not limited to just the bulky terminals. Same thing happens with the vendor granted at Business IV (Robo Bartender Droid)

  • (You might have listed this one) When youtry to pick up the vendor or remove it, it completely goes away. You have to create a new vendor from the house control panel

  • If you put something up for sale, cancel the auction, but leave the item in the stockroom... and you remove the vendor. When you place a new vendor in the structure, you will be unable to retreive the item from the stockroom

Get ready for some more unpleasantness. I spoke with a CSR last night for nearly an hour about all of these vendor/merchant issues. The answers were not exactly what I wanted to hear.

  • In regards to the inability to rotate and move vendors, I was told to /bug the problem

  • In regards to the inability to retreive items from the vendor, I was told to /bug the problem

  • In regards to items on the vendor not showing up on the bazaar, I was told that this is how it's supposed to be. I told the CSR that it wasn't that way in beta. No reply.

  • In regards to merchant XP being earned at such a slow rate, I was told that he could nottell me how to earn XP and that I should check th forums. (I already know how to earn it.. you put the vendor down, initialize it, and walk away)

My other problem right now is that droid deeds are listed under Misc > Items rather than under Entities > Droids. So not only can I not use my store / vendor... but the bazaar is basically worthless to me.

Not a good combo if your a merchant running a droid company.

This is "as designed", they changed this in the last few weeks of beta. You now must "destroy" your vendor and you can not pick it up and put it into your inventory. There where some bugs with picking up a vendor and so i think this is just a "quick and easy fix" for them.

This is the #1 issue for me. Yes vendors are broken, but if we could at least get Exp then we can wait untill they fix vendors. As it stands right now there is no practical way to advance to Novice Merchant at all. We are getting 5 exp per HOUR right now and that is just crazy. This is a huge bug and one that i have yet to see any developer acknowledge.

This CSR also really shows a problem with this game, that they would require you to go outside the game and read the Forum to find out how to play? that is just stupid. It should be obvious within the game exactly how to advance.

In regards to items on the vendor not showing up on the bazaar, I was told that this is how it's supposed to be.

If I remember correctly, a betaDev poststated that they were removing the feature of having vendor items show up on the Bazaar. Not 100% sure on this, but it rings a bell.

This change is being posted on the test center:

"Fixed vendor completed sales dissapearing and assertion when negotiating bugs"

I have no idea exactly what that means (assertion when negotiating bugs! I know what assertions are, programmer thing, but the whole thing together is kinda confusing).

So hopefully people will be able to retrieve soon.

5 xp per hour is just stupidly insane, 42 days to get to novice merchant... yea thats reasonable. On the bright side you get two vendors then so it will only take 42 more days to get your first tier In total to get to the top of the vendor tier, you will spend 270 days if you have all available vendors working at the same time.

Furthermore whats up with maintenance? At the end of beta they said they greatly reduced maintenance fees, couldnt test it then as my vendor was destoryed but not so I couldnt place a new one, but if anything it costs more now.At first I placed the vendor, tossed in some money and it said 3 days. I thought wow they did fix it. Then I put a few items on it and looked again, up to 1200 credits per day which is over 3x as much as I pay to maintain my house. So for 42 days I am going to pay over 50k in maintenance alone, thats for one vendor. 100k to get my first tier in another 42 days, almost 210k to get my next tier of vendors in 56 days (all three vendors working), etc.

The whole merchantprofession is buggered until they address these issues, not to mention making the vendors actually work.

Anyone test to see if vendor purchased wares are retrievable now? We have a small glimmer of hope in getting our issues addressed!

Up to 160 XP now.
