Thread: That name has violated the content filter...
Haven't seen this one (though I may be blind) on the posts:
Created a vendor and wanted to name it something specific like "OMG" the name of my store. But, SWG tells me the name violates the content filter. How the heck does "ShoreSide Merchants - Vendor" violate the obscene language filter??
Anyone with some words of wisdom?

I dunno.... maybe it violated content because it had "Merchant" in the name? That message doesn't mean you had a vulgar word. Well, unless it specifically said you used profanity.
NO clue why the word merchant is prohibited but it is.. they are Lucas Arts naming rules FWIW. *shrug*
I tried to name one Bodyguard, a just-for-fun vendor at the entrance of my house and it was filtered. My guess it that the devs want to make sure new people can't get confused by NPCs placed by players.
Every time I try to make a2 word name vendor it gets rejected.
like "Buff Kits" "Doctor Resources"
HOWEVER, "Buff-Kits" and "Doctor-Resources" works fine
Oneexception, I made a vendor named "Dr Feelgood" and it worked

Thats wierd I dont have that issue, my current droids are named. (both NPC's)
NoxLabs - Kamayyk's Droids
NoxLabs - Artisan Componets
And I used to have a terminal vendor named "Just for exp, ignore"
Kamayyk
Master Droid Engineer
Master Artisan
Depends on what the 2 words are. If one of the tow words is filtered then by hyphenating it with the other part of the name you can get around this issue. Ex.: Rebel Supplies not allowed cause Rebel is filtered but Rebel-Supplies works. But If you had Galeocerdo's Supplies it would work cause neither word is filtered.
As a hint if you want to name anything Wookiee use Wookie instead. Man I hope they loosen the filter for vendors one day.

it's not the obscene language filterthat's being violated, it's the trademark SW name. "Merchants" contains the word "han" which isn't allowed because of a certain character from the star wars universe. stupidest thing i've ever seen. they use some pretty poor pattern matching in their filters. i found this out trying to name one of my vendors with the word "Enhanced". it wouldn't let me, so i kept taking parts of the word out until i got down to just "han" which it wouldn't let me use. Ended up using "Enhaenced" and it worked fine, although now i get random tells from people about my vendor being mispelled and i have to inform them that no, i am not just stupid

Yep..and its a Lucas Arts thing.. SOE can't control it.

Filtering "merchant" because it contains "han" is a SOE thing. I'm sure Lucas Arts has nothing to do with that.
I still cant figure out how the word Wookiee is obscene, but you can name your vendor "Soandso's Crap", lol
Somethings were never meant to be figured out, lol!

They are using the same code for vendor names that they use for player names. They did not want people naming themselves WookieedOOd or Well-Hung-Wookiee as player character names so they took Wookiee out of availability. Hopefully they will change the code for vendors.
And actually it is Lucas Arts that controls the StarWars liscence and these filters not SOE.
