all's in the title, if I have to go in vacation for 2 weeks, I don't want my vendors to be deleted so I have 2 solutions
1 - do nothing and get my vendors deleted
2 - add an ingame friend as vendor's administrator (same system as the house) who could
stock em - no withdraw
pay maintenance fees if needed
then I'll be ready to deal with the changes.

Awesome idea. I'd also like to see them add something to where who gets the sales mails and money.

This will spawn cross-server merchant swaps.
Don't see it happening and wouldn't want it to happen.
Cross server lot swaps is one of the reasons that limits are being proposed.

I really don't like this idea.
After all, admin on buildings and harvesters didn't create any exploits in the form of cross-server lot trades, did it? O wait it did.
These vendors are getting deleted for one reasone...they deserve to be.
If you don't want your vendor deleted when you go on vacation, just put some things for sale at a ridiculous price. 1 unit of grinding fiberplast for 99Mil.

I agree with those against this. It is little better than getting your six vendors then dropping Master Merchant. Put up a month's worth of maintenance (my vendor has a year) and one simple item for extreme cost.
Even if you did nothing like this - just paid a month's maintenance and put up normal items - and all of that stuff sold out the next day, and your vendor was removed due to inactivity/empty, so what? Theoretically, you should be a merchant and be able to put the vendor back up when you get back.

I don't have the patch notes with me but I clearly remember that they say something like that:
if a vendor gets empty or "abandonned" for more than 2 weeks, it gets deleted. and this isn't clear, what does "abandonned" mean ?
at least put a restricted admin list, like
- able to stock
- unable to pay maintenance
- unable to buy offered items
it'll reduce server trade.

If you read the intent of the Merchant class:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=merchant&message.id=31495
you will notice that it was not intended to be able to surrender all Merchant abilities and maintain their properties. To implement an Admin feature would be basically giving someone a vendor without any need for the skills. As the system stands now, and will be implemented, a single item on a vendor of an active account will stop it from being 'abandoned'. Hopefully, they will be instituting coding that will require actual vendor skill boxes to keep the vendors.

Yamanda,
Your post is unbelieveable.
You think adding admin that is "able to stock" vendors will REDUCE server trade. Wrong!! It will increase it. The entire merchant tree can be mastered PASSIVELY because merchants get exp for just having vendors. "Able to stock" would massively increase cross-server vendor trades.

if you can't pay maintenance the vendor should (but I think it's broken now) get deleted when it reaches 0cr.
cross server trades.
how many players will go on another server, spend time to grind merchant (and artisan) for another one ? I wouldn't do that.

No Way. This will just end up creating Cross Server Vendor Trades, wHich will Create 50 Million New Problems. Look At it This Way.
Someone Creates a Character for you on Bria and you Create a Character for Him on Starsider. You Grind to Master Merchant in Two Days. You Each Drop Six Vendors for each other and Boom. The entire problem is re-created except this time there is absolutely no way the Devs Can fix it. Not to Mention That by having Admin Rights you would be able to register the vendor on The world map, pay Maint. Add and Remove Items, Basically run an entire shop, ALL WHILE NOT BEING A MERCHANT.
This is a terrible Idea.

Well something needs to be done - perhaps jump it up to 3 weeks before deletion. I mean honestly do you know how common 2 week vacations are?
Why is the average user being punished in this game?
