I hate it when panic is spreading over the boards.

These guys dont even ban crafters who still sell serial-exploited stuff, they will not ban people who dont duped.

Two things you should NOT do in the next few days:

1: DONT accept large amounts of money as a tip without selling something. Dont accept money-gifts! If someone tips you, ask him why he did that, and if he doesnt want the money back, make a ticket

2: DONT get ANY money out ofa PA-Hall until this Issues is solved. Obvisouly PA-Halls where used in Duping and you may be flaged as "Duper" when you get Duped money out of a PA-Hall, even if that money wasnt duped by you.

Thats it.

what really sucks is the message was put out today.

I work on alot of deals -- buy now pay later and i make 10-30 million a week -- alot are tipped to me -- alot are bought off vendor.

I buy and sell krayt tissue -- largest supplier on my server -- I also am a pure merchant buying others goods and reselling...

and i sell in bulk to for commision -- so i go tip me 5 million and ill pick up the items for you then i cut 5% off the top --

how is this going to affect me for what was done ..

ughhh im so worried

Don't worry 'bout it. Take as business as usual.

Too many credits change hands everyday. All that can happen would be to locate a commonality or pattern.

If yer legit, ye won't have problems.

But if a bug means you lose millions of credits, "humbly sorry, nothing can be done, we don't track, ticket closed"

Gits.

And if sony goes on a witch hunt and you get wrongfully banned, well screw em then. You're finally free and can jettison this crap fest of a game and not have your addiction pull ya back.

If you don't like the game then by all means save us some bandwith and leave without letting the door hit you in the ass.

If as Just G stated they keep a record of all transactions and you're doing legitimate business (ie trading goods/services for credits) then you're going to be fine. Credit duping needs to be taken very seriously or the crafting community is just plain F***ed. Get over your animosity towards SOE, things need to be fixed sometimes or we wind up in a world of poop. The onlypeople I could see being upset about this are those people involved/connected with the dupe.

As we say in sweden "as long as you have pure flour in your bag" you don't have to worry.

But you should think twice before accepting offers like a free 2 million credits for no reason whatsoever. And if you do accept those credits, be sure to send a ticket telling from who you got it and when.

No one will ban you for recieving a small amount of credits, duped or otherwise. Just be careful about those large transactions for no reason whatsoever.

but what is concidered large -- is it based per player... or a "average" I can rope in several million a day -- hold this for me's -- find this for me's etc .. basically im atreasure hunting merchant that hires players to find goods for other players -- big buks change hands -- alot in bank tips or reg tips -- not to say anything about my krayt tissue sales were i sell 3-4 mil a day usually in tissue and buy much more back (minimum i usually buy in a week in tissue ios 15-20 million)

My business reliese on my reputation its taken a year to build up and alot of players tip me money -- to get them the items.... and i always come through.. But the millions that pass through me (i make a small percentage) still pass through me ..

I just hope i am not "in trouble" for being a free agent in a player run economy and making my own way in this pocket universe...

Well without goin' into specific detail I'll try to answer yer questions:

"How can credits be duped?"

Well there actually be multiple ways that can be accomplished. Thankfully most have been found and corrected, but at least one known method (may or may not be this one) still works or so it has been claimed and the economy statistics seem to indicate it. So how can one dupe credits... well here's a method that was done sometime ago and me understandin' it will not work (it was corrected by a hot fix). Basically one person tips x amount of credits to another person. The person that tipped then disconnects (Link Dead). Due to the programmin' of the code, the system detected that the person lost connection and would restore the person back to what they were before disconnected (and before the tip); thus the person that tipped still has his/her money and the money that was tipped was essentially created.

Why be this bad?

'Cause it ruins the economy be makin' the individual credit have less power (inflation). There be more money commin' into the economy (inflowor spigot) than what be leavin' (outflow or sink). This has been the case ever since the first of the credit dupe techniques were discovered. There be one credit dupe that be at the system layer and will need someserious debuggin' and programmin' skills to correct. Hence this notification and the use of logs in the meantime. Though Am surprise this wasn't brought up sooner.

"And how can Sony ban u for having these credits when its the creation?"

SOE can ban people fer any reason, actually they don't even need a reason (The right to refuse service to anyone.) Fer this case, SOE will ban people that have the intent to dupe credits. Dupin' of credits doesn't happen by accidents (well not most of the time), but by purpose. So its just a matter of usin' an auditin' loggin' system to determine who be gettin' an increase of credits and with some other form of pattern (such as loggin' off/on multiple times, multiple disconnects, spinnin' in circles 10 times, etc). As fer people who recieve the "duped credits" that becomes harder to figure out. Fer one offense I would assume that nothin' will happen (the person recievin' the credits may very well not be aware of it; A new person comes to the game and some guy/gal hands over 10 million credits out of "the goodness of their heart". The new person has no idea of where the money came and now can only think of how to spend that money), but through repeated actions, then a pattern be formed.

There are millions of credits tradin' hands everyday. I would not worry over it wonderin' where the money came from. Besides its not like US 20 (or larger) dollar bills that ye can try to verify to be authentic.

I'm really disappointed that there is still a working credit dupe this long after release.

May I suggest random drug tests for the entire Development team?

And if the problem is incompetence?
