This recent announcement about the credit dupes just floors me.
HOW DO WE KNOW WHAT CREDITS ARE DUPED!?! THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW!
So business just shuts down until what?
The OVERT threat to ban all accounts that receive these credits really floors me. How are we suppose to play the game without credits?
What if someone buys something from my vendor with these credits?
VERY POORLY WORDED ANNOUNCEMENT SOE.
Doc please ask them to clarify what's going on.

obviously it isn't fair or possible to ban any account that recieved any credits that might have been duped. The warning is not to get involved in moving or storing these massive amounts of credits. Someone buying something from your vendor for a fair price isn't going to get you banned. Someone transfering millions of credits into your bank account suddenly might be a lot more suspicious however.

Well now this has me worried. I did a money transfer for a friend cross server. Now I just have to kinda sit and twiddle my thumbs and hope it didn't raise any flags? LOL

Thats all good and fine doc but some of us deal in high end (expencive) stuff and even one of those puts us squarly under the gun for the devs usualy half cocked and poorly planned actions.
I sell peices of RIS for 4mil each. That is a very fair price thus why i move so many however i seriously doubt the devs have any idea that is a fair price. Also i on occastion buy and sell items worth many many millions how am i to know when one of these *might* be sold to someone who *could have* sploited some of them.

I have to agree with this. If I even get a suspicious look from a CSR or dev I'm gonna be pissed. I did 40 mil in sales over the weekend from selling out of the loot biz and I'm squeaky clean. What's wierd to me is that they said they are gonna suspend those that did the credit duping but ban those that accept any of the duped credits.. shouldn't it be the other way around?? How the crap and I supposed to know which credits haven't been duped? /sigh.... they need to get a better handle on this stuff and not make people worry about whether they are gonna get on the game tomorrow and find out they are banned or the house full of exceptional loot has been deleted. stupid

Since apparently they log financial transactions (unlike the ones that cause items to just poof randomly) there will be a sales history of your transactions. Big transactions for big ticket items would be legit, but big transactions for insignificant items would probably be suspect.

i pay high money for inforamtion good spot to harvest, when a meat spawns that i need and so on. i also loan sometimes a few millions to friends or just transfer 1 to 50 million between my accounts.
i regulary have i high level trades if it be resources for a few million or a sea or what ever.
what shall i do? i dont know where the money comes from i get in such transactions.
and when i see this reaction i find it very interessing as i had a dupeing problem geting help from CSR was more as a pain 10+ emails no reactions in the tickets i got only told to write an email and when i buy the duped item even accidently i risk baning (was still offered after i bought it on my vendor) after 10 days of no help from CSRs i rejected the itmes informed the sellers and they decayed as much as i know 7 days later. there was a problem i had with dupeing and i saw normaly i buy all resources and items offered to my vendor from persons i know. CSR did not help they did not even delete the duped items and now i should not do my normal shopping because some persons duped the money and they cant again not remove the money before persons who dont know or want to dupe get involved? i ask myself how they work. when i know who it is i ban these people and remove the money follow the transactions they made and remove this money from the game or better negate the transaction and then remove the money. when they have this all tracked they can do it. it may be cost some manpower but that would be 1000 times better as just baning people who did nothing other as trade, buy, sell.

I don't think the people who do credit transfers to fund a friends Jedi etc on another server need worry. I'm assuming you made the money doing x, y or z(where x, y or z are not duping)so IF you are checked it is legit as it can be seen your credits come from sales or missions.
SOE state they know the exploit and so I assume they have tracked who did it. They will then look at what said people do with the duped credits. If they buy a looted rifle (with mind fire -1 uses, 230 potency, 500 duration hitting for 800 per tick) for 50m then the seller would be safe. However if the item sold was a standard T21 for the same money then it would be a probably be a problem for the seller.
The only way you can unknowingly be caught up in this is if you are tipped a load of credits. So if you are just report it and a CSR can look into it and if the credits are from a duper they can remove them, no harm done to you.

We should test this at once! Each of you give me a million credits and we will see it the developers notice.
I'm waiting.

What if a friend quits but knows I could use his stuff? It's not worth any real money to him so he gives me his millions and his entire inventory.... See where I am going with this? Am I going to be flagged for receiving goods that will otherwise rot. Seems like this needs to be dealt with on a case by case basis. There are others that have gotten rich off friends quitting the game and no farming and no ebay auction was held. It's inheritance

They aren't flagging accounts that recieve large amounts of credits. They are flagging accounts that recieve large amounts of credits from people they can track as dupers. Basically if you have reason to think the credits aren't legit you should report it immediately. There is an account for surrendering credits you believe to be duped. Its in the Knowledgebase.
