OK we know that there WILL be a cap,...the problem is everyone assumes that if SOE started at a low number,..and we *were* able to place as many as we wanted,..the compromise number has to be low (2x the suggestion 3x the suggestion etc....)

Well,..screw that forget about the number imposed.

Don't assume that SOE is going to enforce limits as low as originally stated, I think the feedback that we've provided has MORE than made an impact on what that number will finally be,..now lets get specific

Forget level multipliers (1st vendor +100 etc,,,) Assume that you have a pool of items to add to your vendor and/or a limit of items per vendor...

Strictly for business purposes what limit would keep you doing business after the cap just like you did before the cap. I went and looked at my 6 vendors selling a large amount and selection of items and it was very easy for me to say that

I am:

Master Merchant

vendors = 6

Minimum items per vendor required = 3000

or

Pool of total items required = 18000

if the cap was 18K itemsor 3K per vendor (to split across my 6 vendors) I would be fine.

What is the number that would keep you in the game as a merchant??

110 per vendor with 6 vendors overall...660 items...is highly acceptable.

I've already stated that I feel that 2k-3k total items (350ish per vendor )
is probably right and if they were aggregate it would be even better. I don't think 18k items is reasonable. Sorry.

There is no acceptable cap and here is why.

The devs have an agenda here that they have not publicly stated but many people here have guessed at. It really doesn't matter what their agenda is it is obvious they want the numbers low and tey want to change the way the average crafter does business. Everyone here is trying to come up with numbers that won't effect their business practice (or at a very minimum). Guess what, those are incompatible goals. If SOE raises the limits to a level even 3 times what they currently are, they cannot achieve their agenda. And most crafters are looking for a 5-10 fold increase.

The devs need to abandon this idea or lose a lot of customers and their secondary accounts.

Since they are low balling us, I think Master Merchant should get 10k items total. There we go, that sounds reasonable to me. Much more reasonable than the 660 item low end.

I tell ya what we'll take the 10k, subtract the 660, and divide by 2, that gives us a total of 4670 items at master merchant. There, now each side is moderately happy.

let me see if I can remember my last suggestion...

bus 3 - 1 vendor, 50 items per (50 total)
Nov Merch - 2 vendors, 75 items per (150 total)
Management 1 - 3 vendors, 125 items per (375 total)
Management 2 - 4 vendors, 200 items per (800 total)
Management 3 - 5 vendors, 300 items per (1500 total)
Management 4 - 6 vendors, 400 items per (2400 total)
Master merch - 6 vendors, 600 items per (3600 total)

These limits keep the business 3 dabblers down, allows the crafters who have some merchant skills to operate, and gives a big bonus to those who master ther merchant class and wish to truely operate as a merchant, buying and reselling goods.

*edit* These are the limits I could live with. I would certainly support higher limits as well.

I would be content with TOTAL ofapprox 2000 items. Whats really important to me is that I can divide that 2000 among my vendors however I want. I have 400 approx on one vendor, yet 200 on other. I just hope they let us decide how to split up our inventories on vendors.

*edit for clarity

Business 3 - Management 4 fine, whatever.

Master Merchant = 6 vendors,10k - unlimited items per. Period.

I should get some return on my skill point investment from busting my ass and WANTING TO BE A MERCHANT. This is not open to negotiation.

This vendor limit situation absolutely needs to be taken off the table until they see what impact the poached/exploited vendors have on the 'database' or whatever made up statistics the devs are looking at and basing their decision on.

AND, since we're not getting ANY communication from the devs, we should not be lowballing ourselves with any of this speculation. We should not even be dealing with this, anddoing their jobs for them!

I strongly urge you all to display your displeasure with this nerf by cancelling your subscriptions. We can still log in and play till our time is up that we paid for. Doing so will show them that we are not happy with this change and we are talking in the language that they understand, our money. And when you do, make sure you fill out the survey about WHY you cancelled your subscription and state Customer Service as the reason! These boards have come up with NUMEROUS GOOD IDEAS for positive change and we have yet to hear any definitive word from the devs. I for one intend for them to hear me by me speaking with my pocketbook. Money talks, bull**** walks.

'nuff said.

Current numbers won't change my way of doing business, just change the repartition between my 2 vendors.

I'm a crafter. MDE

The only problem I really have are consumables : BH droids, batteries, repair kit, survey droid, custom kit...
They are my only repeat business and take much more room for much less profit than actual droids.

100 item per vendor would make my life much easier, but I can deal with 60.

As for a reasonable cap overall, 2 to 3K for a master merchant seem more than acceptable for me.

Trouble is that different professions have different requirements. As a DE I can probably get away with 300 items per vendor (just!) but its actually the Artisan powerups that I make that require most space, and if I was limited to 300 items with those all that would happen is I would just stock 1 kind of ranged and 1 kind of melee and that will hugely impact my customers choice.

Of course tailors etc have it even worse than that so it's very hard to give a max number that's good for all professions. What's not very hard is to see that 110 items per vendor at master merchant is a risible offer that could only have come from somebody with no understanding or experience of playing SWG. A trained chimp possibly.
