Well This morning I logged on and my account was banned. I have never cheated, never duped never done anything against the TOS and Infact I have reported exploits and bugs in the. This morning I logged onto wanderhome as I usually do and what do you know I was banned. I received no email, the live support told me to email SOE (the last 2 emails Ive sent about situations i have received no response back) and the phone number well -- they are on the west coast im on the east so I am waiting. All 3 of the accounts I use are banned for some reason all I can think of is I got dirty money somehow as I do move money around from account to account depending on were i am what vendor needs to be stocked or what item needs to be purchased and this is the only thing common with the accounts (one is not even my account its my girlfriends brothers I use on occasion -- now I have to explain that)... And I have no explanation.

I have never cheated or done anything against the TOS, all I am is a successful merchant buying and selling what I can -- I take money in advance allot to find an item -- I tip money later at times after i sell an item .. all within the confines of the game system..

I feel I am being punished for running a business in a player supported economy and am stuck in the middle of one of their programming mistakes .. all I have done is run the same business I have for a year -- nothing different.

It hurts to not be able to partake in my second life, If I cant come back I will miss all of you dearly as you are the black sheep of my alternate reality. I am to upset to name names.....

SOE please here my plea and unban me -- check my logs or give me a reason.. and let me defend myself.

/cry

p.s. I am going t o work hard to get back in the game so dont break up Ghost, dont re auction items I've won and dont spend the money of my items you won just yet.... This was all done in error and I have faith---

Korrackwrote in similar thread on Wanderhome Forum:

I'm sorry to here this Val. I'm guessing you were banned for receiving duped credits on one of your vendors. I have spent the better part of the morning here at work reading the various galaxy boards to get some sort of idea how widespread this is and it seems to be concentrated around certain galaxies. Lowca and Kettermoor seem the worst hit now, but numbers will increase as people try to log on today.

All I can think of with the bannings of receivers is that it is just a temporary ban until they sort the duped credits they know you received from the real credits you own. They are trying to keep the duped credits from spreading. I am not surprised at all that Val was early in being reported banned. Val deals with millions upon millions of credits of items. A duper could easily buy anything off Val's vendors and instantly dump millions of duped credits. I suspect someone from SOE will post something today (as this last 24 hr period seems to have the most active bannings) and we'll find out that the receivers are just bgetting temp bans to keep them from accidentally using the money and getting more people/accounts involved in this mess. At least I hope this is what will happen.

It is sad that SOE cannot adequately police their own game and cannot at least warn innocent people of actions they are going to take which will be received as SOE being some tyranical overlord mindlessly banning innocent people because someone else exploited.

I'm sure today will be an interesting day on the boards

This *is* them "policing their own game".

If they warned people ahead of time, it would give the scumbags a headsup.

If they warned a person as he was banned, it would give the scumbags time to warn their mates.

Now, neither of these things would save the scumbags, but it would mean that the scumbags just randomly tip people to disperse the cash in a stupid attempt to save themselves. And it would mean that SOE would have to chase *hundreds* of accounts, rather than just a few.

Don't blame SOE. Blame the scumbags.

A simple post in the Announcements forum or on the front page of starwarsgalaxies.com saying "We are banning accounts which have come into contact with duped credits. Anyone who simply received credits will be banned temporarly and will be reinstated as soon as this matter is cleared up. We apologize for the inconvenience." posted 24 hrs ago would have saved a lot of anger and frustration by a lot of people.

They have been mentioning this dupe for a week, long before they started banning. The dupers know it is coming already, so why not comfort the innocents before you ban them? I'm sure the bans are only temporary, but most of the banned think they are permanent and some are talking of lawsuits.

At least mentioning what is going on goes a long way to settle emotions and anger.

Again what it boils down to is piss poor communication between the devs and the community. Do we need to look any further back than any patch with a nerf? They purposefully release and do things at a time that they cannot be reached for comments, ie friday night. Then they come back and judge the fall out to see what is going on and hope that people have calmed down some. Like I have said in a couple of other threads, if this was any other type of business other than a video game business this sort of treatment would not be tolerated by the customers. Better Business Bueru anyone?

I run a vendor for my Armorsmith friend...I owe him like 1 mil for his sales...

I hope they don't flag my 1 million credit transfer to him as "suspicious"...

That's just BS.

I suspect the original poster was closer to "illegal activities" than he would like to admit though, if not, I apologize for the accusation.

Lets not accuse anyone of anything. They are tracking the duped credits though the system. They are banning people who are recieving them and in the process they are catching a few people who are unaware of their involvement in the duped credit moving. It will get worked out it will just be a bit while they sort through it.

Doc, it sounds like they're catching more than just a few. The problem is, they DID tip their hands, several days in advance of the bannings. This gave the griefers time to go around screwing everyone by making large purchases or tips. By failing to tell anyone IN ADVANCE how to deal with this tactic, and by even banning people who ARE doing this (and I have yet to hear anyone say "I got banned and then _got_ the e-mail"), Sony has managed to shoot themselves in the head, not the foot. They didn't need this colossal stupidity on top of the Merchant nerf and whatever the last fuss was that prompted a 105 page thread to be deleted....escapes me right now.

Valuthor,

I'm pretty sure they are doing the bans based on actions of the "scumbags" right after the duping was found out. I.e., even though they have been mentioning the duping for a week, they are probably using the logs to ban people who received duped credits right after the duping occurred.

Its unfortunately you got caught up in this. But I imagine your store (selling krayt tissue) was probably a ripe target for someone with 100s of millions of credits he wanted to spend. Face it, there isn't much in that game other thankrayt tissue that has constant high value. Definitely send in the e-mails. I'm sure SOE will sort this out. The last thing they want to do is ban innocent people. Once they see that you have been stocking high priced items for a long time, they will realize you are a legit merchant.

Out of curiosity, did you notice an unusually high amount of sales in the past week? Like one guy buying out ALL of your tissues?

To be honest i delete sale emails -- i buy and sell so much -- and go through 5-20 million in a week easy.. at tiems up to 60 million in sales

I also treasure hunt alot -- here is money in advance find me this -- and i keep anotepad of the players and delete the email

sales of 20% off I tip it back --

All of this nonsense is killing sales everywhere due to the scare. It is disheartening and exciting all at the same time! This game has managed to mimic in so many ways the actions and reactions of a real economy. The Devs should be very proud about this fact.
