The definition of "Elitist Trash" is someone who has a different opinion?
He stated that he and many otheres will avoid going into the shop because of the fee. That doesn't mean no one will go in. It might not even mean that most people in your area won't go it. But you could have simply said.."I disagree, I get a lot of repeat business and I don't think it hurts business at all" the personal flame was really uncalled for.
I think it is kinda fun actually... I cater to the holo grinders, I put up low quality grinding materials with the highest priced going for less than 1.5 cpu. And keeping that sucker stocked is a job itself.
The one aspect that I have the most fun with is advertising.. I claim to have the "Cheapest little Ore House on Corellia".
Plus I have gotten some great ideas from the forums on drumming up business. There is a lot of experience on these forums and I would rather walk thru the minefield behind someone.. Learn from their mistakes and success..
And I am proud to say "unless I get bought out before I get home, I always have resources stocked."
I'll agree that the term trash hologrinder is harsh but I believe it applies to a certain type of hologrinding and not just anyone who is on the quest to become a Jedi. In my mind there is nothing wrong with you trying to get to master merchant as quickly as is legal for the profession you have to master with the caveat that you don't inconvienience or defraud others in the process. It sounds like you are doing this correctly and making the best of it by actually practicing the profession. That is admirable in an age where many are pursuing their goal without care for the other people trying to play the game around them.
Somone run over to the Doctor forum and see if they have a fire blanket lying around.
Come on guys lets calm down a little. There is room for different opinions about the usage of the 1 credit entry fee. I personally don't like the method but I am not livid about it if the vendors inside are stocked or there is content to entertain me. Yes I agree that people who charge you 1 credit to get into their shop and then don't have anything on their vendors are annoying but lets just turn down the flame a bit on this.
There is a guild mate of mine who is doing merchant and he is using the 1 credit fee. I went to his place last night and looked around. The 1 credit fee bought me access to a very well laid out room with funky green lighting and art work on the walls and some rather unusual loot items that I hadn't seen. He had 6 vendors all of which had items on them (except for one stuck way back in a corner somewhere that I believe he is using for offers) It wasn't a bad experience for 1 credit and I would pay it again if I needed something that he might have.
It doesn't matter how right you are if people hate to hear you talk...
I am a "real" merchant... I stock everyday.. I targetthose "holo-people" and sellgrindable stuff for a good price. I more than make up for the access fee with discounts... Some items are under 1 cpu but NONE are at or over 1.5 cpu.So if you want to go to a free access shop and pay 2.5 - 4.5 cpu (quoting prices I have seen) just to save one credit.. Then that is fine.. I am primarily doing it for xp till I can get a tent because this is a fun profession so I do what I can for xp. Since this is primarily for xp, till I get my tent, I give good deals to compensate the customer for helping me.
I almost didn't make it to the end of your post due to all the colorful words you used.
Just because you pick one profession and refuse to budge from it does not make you better..

I may be full of myself because that is due to me being a REAL merchant. I fully stand by the statement that if you are selling things worthwhile you don't need an access fee. And if you are a real merchant, it won't matter how long it takes. Very many people won't patronize a store with an access fee. I understand you may have many repeat customers, but I would also wonder how many potential customers you have lost due to this fee.
A one credit fee is nothing to me and many people. But it is highly indicative sign of someone who isa holo-whore without any goods on their vendors,
Yes, the system frankly sucks. I wish they had never created it. And you are using it as designed but that doesn't mean the design is right.
I'd still wager you are losing more business because of it than you have in repeat customers.
Holo-whores suck. Broke holo-whores who can't support their jedi are even more pathetic. If you grind your way properly through the design, you will have enough money to support your jedi.
It is definitely a horrid design. Jedi who should not want of material things must be well-funded. Krayt pearls and crystals are ludicrous. But we have SOE to thank for that.
You seem to be a 'real' merchant which is good, but holo-whores be damned... in all professions.
I refuse to do business in any store that charges an access fee. Period.
Been burned too many times by the holo grinders.
