I'm looking into having a 2nd character to be a medic but am wondering what race is best for it and if it takes a long time to get medical skills, thanks.

Mon Calamari is best in terms ofthe mind, what you use to heal, but you won't be able to take damage too well.

Zabrak is the only choice. They have very fast mind regeneration (high willpower) and the equilibrium ability (split your remaining HAM points evenly between the three bars). Mon Cal havebigger mind bars thatregenerate slower than Zabraks.

They all work great. The choice rely depends on what else the character is going to do.

Have to balance out the total character, not just 1 profession.

Yes, Zabrak regen mind faster, and they have equilibrium, but my mon calamari Doctor has never run out of mind, and I honostly think that if you do it right, you can regen mnd faster with a Mon Calamari anyway. I have maxed out mind pools, all three, and my action and health bars are splitting the rest, with none in the secondary health or action pools.

The key to playing a field medic, not necessarily a combat medic, is that you never run out of mind. Playing with the people that i do, I heal at such a fast rate that my Zabrak used to run out of mind all of the time, I switched to Mon Calamari, and never had the problem again.

i rarely if ever run out of mind if im healing...now when u start to solo and u take mind hits the regen of the zabrek is much nicer than mon calamari...

bigger pool is nice, but on the other hand u cant heal the pool so regen is a bigger issue in my opinion. Nice thing about big mnd pool is less healing but taking the huge headshots.

Mon calamari's are pretty much screw if they get hit in the mind...big pool mediocre regen makes for more down timeIMHO. when CM start dropping mind poisons tho, zabreks might be a better choice with faster mind regen and /equilbrum.

if u are going the master doctor/med center template then definately go with a squid head...if u are going CM or combat class/medic zabrek would be the preferable over the squid heads...

Wookies dont make bad medic either...huge HAMs...

Zabrak mind regen is incredible. When I first started out I changed my stats to give me 1200 mind... but very rarely did I lose my mind pool. I now use 950 mind and the regen makes up for it.

In terms of pure numbers, Zabrak is the best hands down.

I thought about making a doc\medic using the expected races....but that idea just didnt seem fun to me...so I made a wookie :-). Honestly I'm glad I did....I stand out in a crowded hospitol (max height for a wookie)...and I always seem to get into interesting conversations with my patients (did I mention that I stand out :wink

actually wookies have incredible stats across the boards...i dont think they are an unexpected race for a medic...

mon cal regen is only like 50 or 100 less than a zab, and we get way higher focus, so we use less mind per heal, and a larger mind pool. I find mol cals to be the best overall, but its really up to you.

Well, unless you want good Mind related stats. We are the best looking however.

mon calamaris have lower H and A tho compared to a zabrekwhich can be an issue in combat...
