My question would be....What level were these medics???

Maybe they didn't have the the medpacks made up??

But maybe they were just rude punks looking out for themselves and no one else.

I've been away for a WHILE (just got back because of JTL but it turns out I miss the ground game MUCH more than I realized!!!). At the moment I just need someone to teach me Master Medic.

I was shocked to see these "Tumbling Idiots" "AFK" in the Med Centers. At first I honestly had NO Idea what they were doing there. After I realized, I did use them a bit...BUT never when a "Real" Player was waiting.

That's simply rude and out of gaming context.

It reminds me of way back when I started there would be these higher level medic and doctor snobs thatwould never "complete" the heals. "A waste of their high level meds" they would tell me when I would complain. Simply rude.

When I run out of med packs, I let everyone know why I'm not healing them (usually I'm right there making them!!)...or I try to get the attention of another healer.

I don't look down on those that use the Tumblers...In fact I see them as a good use of slow times. But I do believe the "Real" patients come first.

EDIT: Oops...I thought I was answering a post in "A small Complaint". Sorry about the redundancy.

Its even worse for those who really need heals. OnceI had some massive wound from loggind with a disease, well i went to coronet medical center for heals and out of 20 medic not on would heal me because 1) They're afk healing the afk tumblersor 2)they were ATK but didnt have a single wound pack because they're only there to heal tumblers.

just shows how far this game has gone.....

And here I am, with 0004 medic (prereq for BE), but healing people at times ... I could use the extra space, but it makes sense to have wound packs...

I just started a medic/entertainer character last night. As part of this, I went to the Coronet medical centre to do do the helper-droid quests. Little me, no skill, no wound packs, just using /tendwound... and I got a whole bunch of people healed because all the doctors were AFK healing a couple of tumblers. I wracked up like 1000 mind wounds and a whole bunch of BF doing so, but at least people were able to get their wounds dealt with, slowly but steadily. I understand the wish to grind XP, but that's rediculous.

I healed tumblers exclusively to master doctor the second time around. Its no different than a crafter doing the crafting in practice mode because their product isnt worth any money. As healing wounds has never made much in the way of credits and is slow, there was no point in doing it.

You may say well, credits are not important ect, but I tell you what, lack of credits is just a sign of a larger issue - lack of appriciation.

Ive never had a problem with this. Every time ive gone to the cnet med center on valcyn ive always been able to get wound heals and without even asking. Heck when im walking through the starport random medics will heal my wounds and yes I /tip them. I personally dont carry woundpacks because I just use medic as a cheaper way to keep my pets healed (pet stims cost out the @$$).

I like that healing tumblers is an option for XP. I also have no problem with crafters (as my main I am one, obviously) crafting in Practice mode to get XP. But, as a crafter, if I get asked for a product I can make, I stop grinding and actually make it. The same thing should go for medics and doctors. Using the tumblers is fine, (though boy does it make you go through stims, which is good I guess for crafting XP if you can afford materials), but if someone comes in needing healing, I stop grinding and heal them if I can. I actually expect that of others too. That's where I get the tips too. (As a medic/entertainer who dabbles in piloting, without those tips I'd be spending most of my time grinding space missions for money. Ok, I do love space combat, but still...)

d00d. That's the only way to get master medic quickly is to AFK heal tumblers. Maybe you're just a nub.....

No, he's a healer. There's a difference.

Back in the day, people who took medic, doctor and combat medic did it to heal people. Myself and several others, at the start of the game, used to man the hospitals all the time to heal people. It was a way to help people and have fun at the same time.

Nowadays, people who take medic, doctor or combat medic do so to add something to their combat template or to sell buffs. Is that bad? No. Is it wrong? No. It's simply a different way of playing the game.

Just because someone is a healer and plays the profs as a healer doesn't make them a 'nub', it makes their playstyle different.

Now calling someone a 'nub' because their playstyle is different...yeah, that pretty much fits the word correctly.

Almost no such thing as a healer in game anymore Texxie as you pointed out. Doctors are buffbots, not wound healers. Forget that a docs main mod is "wound treatment".

I'm still a healer. Always have been, always will be

Once I finally become a glowie on the boards, I'll switch my in-game title to Master Doctor and head to the local hospitals/med centers and hang around healing anyone who asks or needs it. Just like the old days...

We're not all buffbots. I'm a healer, always have been. I spend a good portion of my game time in my hospital healing people as they come in and chatting with friends.

I am starting out as an aspiring TKA artist. I dabble in medic cause it's nice to be able to heal myself in the field. Bought a crafting-capable med bot with my SOE xmas cash. Yesterday, went into a med center tofind someone to train me. Saw a poor beat up brawler sitting outside a circle of, no-kidding, 7 medics and docs who were healing a tumbler. After asking him if anyone one was healing him, LMAO at the answer he gave me, and spending a fair bit of time healing him with my limited skills, he gave me a nice tip. Let people be whatever kind of doc they want, I say. If it encourages gratitude, so much the better and I might do more medic than I had originally planned.
