Thread: The TEF issue.
The last official word on this was from Beta When Holo said that healing TEfed players was a choice and a risk. Combat would happpen in public Cantinas and Hospitals. Overts should go to faction bases to be healed safely, or maybe player cities. There has been no official statement since then.
Currently we Have TEF flags... people know if they have TEFs. Ask before you heal. Or deny service to TEFed people until it wears off. You should also know what actions a covert wcan do with a covert to get a TEF (healing, trading etc.). Do so at your own risk.
We are trying to get a popup box as well: "This action will cause you to get a TEf vs.____ do you want to proceed."
I would not expect cantinas and med centers to become no-combat zones. Whenever such lines are drawn, someone can take advantage of them.

Any official comment on our wish to have Cantinas and Med-Centers made a "no Combat" area? It can be done because all the player houses don't allow entry while TEF.
I was healing in the Med-Center in Bestine and got a TEF and then the rebs came in guns blazing(Not like the goody goody rebels in the movies!). I also heard rumors saying they griefed all the entertainers in the cantina as well. I mean they must have some geneva convention thingy in this universe too?..![]()

u guys are all seeing it wrong..... it is actually a bug in the implimentation of the new TEF system....
what the new tef system is *supposed* to do is prevent TEF'd players from entering *private* buildings. the bug is that currently TEF is preventing people from entering *any* building (minus npc buildings). they just need to fix the public/private tef bug... tef should only prevent access to private building, not public.
[ also, people are getting tef's for healing overts who dont have tef.... that doesnt seem to make sense, from the viewpoint of who gets access to a building or not....... if the overt has a tef, then that tef should pass along to the 2nd party healer...... but if the overt doesnt have tef, then a tef *should not* be passed along to the healer.... that is another bug, in my view, but less critical than the first bug ]

even if its a temporary fix, the 2nd bug is indeed a bug... why should a healer get a TEF from an overt who isnt even attacking anyone and doesnt even have a TEF. it makes sense that if person A is attacking, has a TEF, and person B heals person A, that person B would also get a TEF.... but it doesnt make sense when person A doesnt even have a TEF or hasnt been attacking.

Everything is subject ot change... but it isn't a bug.

I don't care if I'm shot or killed.... The building booting is driving me nuts... (if the person I'm healing can be in the building, why can't I?)
I'll risk getting shot because of a TEF, just don't kick me out of a cantina or med center. I can only heal a player once, then I'm booted and can re-enter to heal them the rest of the way? What's up with that?
If someone wants to come inside and shoot me for helping the enemy (fine), but don't kick me out of the med center for healing someone (that's why I'm there!)
Do dancers get booted from the cantina and get a TEF if an overt/TEF player watches them? That's rediculous.
That's not the reason for the booting. It's a bad side effect.
The reason is there is a very bad issues of folks putting a house outside of an opposing factiopn base then useing the house as an unattackable base of operations to drag incapped and corpsed players into to heal them, while the medic cannot be attacked.
Obviously some other methoed of alleviating that problem should be looked into.
The guild NYC of Starsider uses that tactic all the time (their PA hall is 50m away from the Imperial Outpost on Dantooine). They love to group TEF gank the overt imperials in the base. Fun is had by all (not).
I think the popup is the way to go. That way you KNOW you're getting one, rather than just accidentally getting one from accidentally healing the wrong person.
