Thread: How I made 2000c in an hour as a medic
First I want to thank the Devs for nerfing pet XP and Prima for suggesting we start charging for pet heals.
I got invited to go hunting with a group today, 10 guys 1 had a big pet. I said sure but I charge for healing pets. The pet handler said, "what you get great XP yada yada." I told him about the nerf and said I now charge 100c per heal / stim charge use, 10 heals in advance.
He said no way was he going to pay 1000c for something he got for free before. I said fine let him die, then he said well I’ll get my own Stims. Sure I said for pets you will need at least Stim Cs, can you use stim Cs? No, was his response. Well I could sell you some good Stim Bs, I sell my top of the line Stim Bs for 1000c, you get 25-30 charges. Sure he said that’s cheaper than 1000c for 10 heals. So off we when hunting.
Not more than 5 mins into the hunt his pet needs healing and there he is healing his pet, doing a not bad job of it but at he’s not shooting anything. Well his health is dropping so I’m healing him up and getting my XP heh heh. Finally he gets his pet healed up and drops prone to engage the enemy. He starts yelling I can’t shoot! His mind is wiped out and he needs mind to operate his big boom stick and special moves. Then he takes another hit and he is in cap. Heal me he screams. I say I can’t you got incaped from a mind shot. Look at your HAM Your health and Action are all good. So he is caped and he can’t heal his pet either so the pet gets incaped.
So we finally kill the bad guys, he recovers his pet recovers and he checks his stats. Hardly any battle XP cuz he wasted all his time healing his pet. He is there for Battle XP so he finally realises he can’t fight and heal at the same time.
So he turns to the group and says hey every one you like my tank? They all say yes, he says good pitch in 100c each so we can pay the Medic to keep him alive. 100c for a tank sure everyone says. We do 2 more missions in a hour. I use 19 charges on the pet, not even a full stim pack and I made 2000c. Plus the 1000c from the first set of Stim Bs he bought.
Moral of the story you services are of value, ask to be paid for them. Once people get used to the idea then it won’t be long before people will simply accept that paying for a good medic is the same as paying for a good gun, droid or pet.
Good example of how the recent "nerf" can be turned to the Medic's advantage.
As a Medic myself, I don't care that we no longer get XP from healing pets. Pet healing has always felt like it should be a Bio Engineer talent, IMHO. If I wanted to heal pets, I would have become a Vetrinarian, not a Doctor. ![]()
On a related note, I feel that many pets have too much HAM; I think only the top-tier pets should have HAMs that are off the scale. If (as was mentioned on another thread) this "nerf" was implemented to prevent accellerated MedicXP gain from healing pets because of their overpowered HAM bars, then I'd rather see lower-tier pets get nerfed.
I understand the current strategy of tanking pets, and I think it would be more Star Wars-y to have fewer pets involved with battles, especially among mid-tier groups.
Quite honestly, this "nerf" (and I keep putting it in quotes because I don't think it's a nerf at all) doesn't affect me one bit. I have gotten all the XP I've needed by healing other players. I like the idea of being able to charge for my pet-healing services, especially because missions rarely prove to be more profitable than running delivery missions across Naboo. (I easily crank out 3000c in 20 minutes of deliveries, and that's after shuttle expenses.)
Again, thanks for that tale, Kevinsky18!

I tip a on average 5k to a doctor in tatooine mos espa for prompt service. whoooo 2000 in an hour...
could beat that selling minerals I manually pull from the ground with /survey.
seriously, this patch is baaaad. if it gets hurt, and you heal it, and it is not yourself, you should get xp.
if you want pets to not give medic xp, fine, give the pets a decent regen so they don't need medic assistance after almost every decent battle. but if you mahe a CL balance so a crature will take roughly 50% damage per pattle, and then nobody gets anything out of healing it **edit**?

Well you have a point, but on the other hand, you are already at Novice Doctor I see.
Many casual players get - err, got very nice xp from healing pets.
Roll it back sez I, and while you're at it, allow xp for self-heals, too!
As far as charging for pet heals - that would only be polite IMO anyway.
(BTW, I am Novice Swordsman / CH, 2-boxing a baby Medic, and yes I do tip well for services rendered hehe)
Ooo, wow, 2000 credits in an hour! Grandma, we can afford your operation!
This change blows. Doctors heal the main tanks.
Who are the main tanks in SWG?
Pets. Not players. Not even buffed players. Pets.
So now we get no xp for healing the main tanks and you're happy because you got 2000 credits in an hour? Christ, I'm selling stim-B's for 1500 each, and they're not even advanced. I don't need pocket change.
If 2000c is more than i ever made in a clinic for an hours work. But hey if you figure 2000c is peanuts then fine charge more.
It will take a while for the price of healling pets to stabilize but so far Im happy. . .
2000 Credits is way too cheap.
I can make that in 15 minutes running delivery missions. I am 2 boxes shy of Master Medic, and am an entertainer and surveyor as well. It takes me one hour to do my harvestor run and put my goods on the bazaar, which pulls in about 40,000 credits a day. 2000 credits is simply way too little, since I am no longer getting XP. This is a nerf, both to medics and creature handlers.
Eventually the CH's will whine loud enough, and they'll change it back.
(Permadeath pets anyone?)
but so far, i've spent quite a few hours at the med center, and i haven't got tipped anything yet.
not even 1 credit. i'm in a group with a scout and an artisan so i can get resources for stimpacks from them, but then again i can't sell them, as i need to use them for xp.
so far, all my money has come from missions (explorer's or standard).
any suggestion?
