Thread: Petition to restore Medic XP to pets
_______________________________________________________________________________________
quote:I'm a CH first Master Medic second. I just go kill stuff and train in whatever skill I get enough points in to do so. Yes I got to master medic primarily because of my pets, and I am amazed and dissapointed at the same time that I can be a master mediclong before I can master CH. If anything they need to lower the ammount of medic xp you gain across the board.

IMHO this is why healing xp was removed from pets. It is an Exploit when you can attack, shoot, heal, harvest, collect credits and mega xpwhile defeating something well above your level with little risk. While I might not agree completely with their solution, I do agree that something had to be done. The fact that the player community was not asked their opinion on this subject, reinforces my opinion that this was considered an exploit, and not as the game was intended. If they had asked, just imagine how quickly their problems would have multiplied.
I do not endorse this petition, exploits must be shutdown. If you feel that you were wacked with the nerf bat, then you were most likely using an exploit. AND I might add, you probably knew it.

"Jas you dont know what you are taqlking about. Take on something my own level? In a group of 3 people, even without our pets the missions we are doing are only white mobs. We would not live throught them without our pets. I am the main healer and even with a backup healer we could not stay alive without pets taking alot of aggro. Do I NEED EXP? NO I am maxed. I am master ch/novice doc/novice pistoleer/some artisen (just for the surveying) with 0 skill points left. Even thought this will not hurt me in the slightest I am very upset. My friends come alog on the trip hopeing to get exp, well guess what they are not going to get any. In the fight I need to heal because I use stim d and can keep everyone healed. But the big pets have hams that are large enought that i dont have to fill them up. The lowwer level medics in the team can do some healing in between fights and get good exp. Taking away this exp is not well thought out. It WILL hurt the lowwer medic's."
Oofbig, while I most certainly don't agree with Jas's opinions regarding pre-creature healing xp and such, I most certainly CANNOT agree with any of the points you just made.
Firstly, your sentences and points are glaring contradictions of each other. You list yourself as..."novice doc." Now, you say you use D stims, which means you must have a high level medical use. Novice docs simply do not have the skills needed to craft or use D stims. And by the way, if you do have the proper skills to use D stims, then you're surely healing for 700 health and action each hit.
Okay, then in the start of your post, you say, "I am the main healer and even with a backup healer we could not stay alive without pets taking alot of aggro." But later you say, "In the fight I need to heal because I use stim d and can keep everyone healed. But the big pets have hams that are large enought that i dont have to fill them up." Let me see if I can understand you here...
You're using Stim Ds and can heal humans up completely, and the pets have large enough health bars so that you don't have to heal them. Now, do explain...if you don't need to heal pets...what's your beef? Don't try to fight for novice medics, because having them trying to heal pets is totally useless. They heal at max with a Stim A...200 or so. Stim Bs can heal for up to 350-400, I believe (it's been so long...I've been using Ds). But 200 to 400...that's a sliver of a pet HAM, and those using As and Bs on pets are wasting those stims regardless of getting med xp or not. It simply isn't logical to heal a pet without C or D. It would take a novice medic forever to heal up a damaged pet.
Looking at your skill listings, you say Novice Pistoleer. I just got Pistol Specialist, I'm almost Master Doc, and a Mon Cal. I can take on 4 to 5 white cons just by myself. I think you're fighting the wrong enemies if in a group of 3, with pets, the cons are white and the battle is as difficult as you portray it to be.
As for the in-battle healing, let the medics get in there. It's good experience, both for the medical tree, and for when they're off on their own. You're in a sense, holding their hands right now, letting them heal when it's safe. They eventually will need to learn how to prioritize heals in battle, do quick skims of the group members, see who needs healing first, get there, etc. If they only heal in camps between fights, then they're not going to do well when they're the sole healer. I'd say, throw them out into the fray, and you provide backup healing.
I'd suggest just getting the group and hunting little stuff like womprats or grogs, to let them get the feel of running in the fight, using hotkeys to use Stims, and being on their toes. Plus, in a group of 3, it's an excellent way for the beginner medics to get their feet wet.
Just a thought.
And I'd like to see the creature med xp brought back for the novice docs. Mastering medic was easy...getting that med xp for Doc...that was loooong.

I am a CH and I want to be a veternarian. The last thing I want to do is to earn my XP from healing people not pets. That doesn't make sense to me.
