Thread: Petition to restore Medic XP to pets
lol.
"Uh guys, yeah, I know you're all getting 3000 xp per kill here and having a lot of fun but I need you to put away the pets and go fight these other things. You'll only get 200 xp per kill if you're lucky and youwon't have any fun doing itbut it will give me a chance to heal you. K? Great, thanks."
Yeah.
I'm sure they'll be all over that. And you think THEY'RE the selfish ones? Sounds like you are.
It's not "totally above your level" if you're able to do it, and they are. With pets. If you want to nerf pets to the extent that players become the main tanks, fine, have fun running that by the CH forum.
Basically medics just got their butts booted from the big game. Now we can either do the big game for no XP or help out dinky groups with small stuff. Hooray.
If medic XP is coming too fast they need to reduce the XP-per-hitpoint ratio.
Reducing it to "zero" is not a good step.

Thinking outside the box:
Have your team mates take an uncloned death or two at the end of the evening. Pull out your Surgical Droid, and heal them outside of town, all by your lonesome. Call it a night then. Decent XP, and everyone wins. Then again, maybe your "freinds" aren't really your friends if they aren't willing to help you out.
Sometimes the box is there for a good reason.
Guildmates should not have to stop what they're doing and go out of their way just so I can get some XP. If I wanted to do that, I'd be an image designer. Asking people to go get a ton of wounds so I can heal them for some XP is a horrible idea. It's no fun for me to sit there and heal wounds that he got on purpose and it's no fun for him to sit there and be healed just for my personal sake. What you're proposing is that instead of thinking inside the box, where medics get XP for doing fun things, we should think outside the box and grind out XP in the most boring and counter-intuitive way imaginable.
I mean god forbid I wasa roleplayer. What kind of doctor kills his clients just so he can have the experience of reviving and healing them? Take two bullets and call me in the morning?
I prefer the current method, where he goes out and attacks things and has fun and I get XP from healing the thing that's taking all the damage, which is his pet.
Medics skilled just fine BEFORE pets were introduced into the game and there was NO XP from pets. Now, because EVERYONE has become so stinking reliant on pets, you all can't conceive of doing anything without pets.
Honestly, how much fun are those HUMAN players having watching the pets tank during the encounters, auto-firing the weapons from a safe distance? Sounds really challenging. But, instead of fighting a challenging fight WITHOUT pets, you can't even think of that. Sounds to me like it IS all about THEIR experience points andNOT yours if they won't ramp down and take damage for you.
/boggle.....
Try thinking outside the box.

Im a CH with this nerf Medics wont want to heal my pets on hunts now as they get no exp. I'll have to do it myself and waste skills points i planned to spend some place else.
They already nerf CH now there making it even harder for us as well at Medics

ok so some of the experience being gained was a bit out of control. just adjust the xp given not turn it off completely.
Im a novice medic with first aid 4 and organic chem 1, pistoleer, and creature handler so im as far as im going in medic anyways. but i tell you this seems to me to be the stealth nerf on creature handlers and medics to force players to use bio engineer pet stim packs instead of medic stims and to stop players from moving up medic faster by healing with stim B's and c's.
the worst hit is on the CH, because now there is absolutly no incentive for a medical type to actually heal a players pet and with a regeneration rate of 15 points a minute now being healed by a pc makes it very hard to do things unless your a medic yourself. of Devs people dont use the pet stims because they suck a pet stim A heals very very low amounts and im sorry when i have 10000 ham to heal im not doing it in 100 point amounts.
Nerf![]()
Oh yer i also forgot to mention im a TKA and CH. I cant tank things in this game without a healer with me i loose half my HAM just using special moves cuz the HAM cost on vibro knuckles is so high. How the hell am i ment to fight anything like that. I cant even solo anything thats my own level cuz of this and if im lucky to kill it i get max 200xp! With my pet im able to stay alive doing these mobs.
The only tanks in this game are Pets at the moment. I do get stuck in on big hunts but if i get hit a fuw times i have to leg it else i die, i can only last a couple of seconds longer than those using range weapons.
And charging to heal a pet? lol i never have any money as im having to buy stimpacks already since pets only heal 5hps every minute now
I'm a Doctor not a Veterinarian, let the BE's heal the pets.
As a Creature handler first and a medic secondary i must say that this change has made it verey interesting, for me I couldn't care less if I got exp for healing my pets, I do it to keep them alive so I can keep going, inthat fact I am more a Vet then a medic.
That I can also heal characters is a bonus for me it allows me to go up in the chain of medic.
If people want their pets healed then they should pay acordingly I mean getting a 200 credit tip for going through 3 stim C's is rather pathetic. how about 500 creds for each 1K of health you heal?
in the long run they should impliment a new medic class called Vet and go from there.
So I say leave it as it is(other CH's may flame me for this) Because it makes us CH's more cautious about using Fluffy to tank that ATST.

For gods sake, give the medics a reason to leave the hospital and get on the battlefield!
I'm also signing for the reason that NOBODY talked about this before implementing it. Why didn't this go thru Test Center for discussion?

If I was a Doctor, and sat in the Medcenter all day, everyday, this woundnt matter. But, I am a Medic. I want to explore the Galaxy with my group. Why are we being punished because we are Medics ?
They Nerfed the Droids, now CH pets can be killed. If BE stims healed in 1 shot, CHs would have no prob. But they rely on the group medic to keep main tank alive. And the group medic should get exp for healing anyone. Healing is healing.
Has anyone else noticed that the real issue underlying this whole outcry is that Pets are the main tank now, while players play a secondary role in combat? Medics complain (well, mostly the ones here) that they get no Medical XP from healing in the field now, because of the Pet changes. This should be a glaring red flag to the players and developers alike.
There are plenty of ways to get Medical XP without parking your arses in the med centers. You and your friends just have to work together to support your needs along with theirs. Give and take man.

pets don't permadie... what are you talking about?
I have medic skills. 4-4-2-4. I got it from grouping with one other person regularly, and sometimes another guy joins up with us for brief periods. Took me about a week. If I was going for master medic, I'd have it in another 3 days tops. I'd have had it by now, but I stayed at 3-3-1-3 for about 4 days, which capped me out at 20K medic experience for a long time till I gave up artisan for the open skill points.
1 week, off of 1 person, doing money missions, so I was getting combat XP, cash, and medic XP, with no pets involved ever. Well, I did heal one guys pet once, but I was just being nice, and it got me a whopping total of 500 medic experience. The kitty wasn't hurt that bad. ![]()
Anyway... it's an opportunity for you to make money. If you're involved in groups that JUST do hugeXP hunts with pets and that was your ONLY source of XP, then you've limited yourSELF, and your guildmates had come to rely on that as well (you being generalized). Your group could take out slightly smaller stuff with good management (threaten shots, warning shots, and the occasional suppression fire and/or Knockdown) and you'd have plenty of patients to heal, they'd still get good XP for fighting, and you all benefit.
It'll be more 'difficult' now and it will take some time for groups to become accustomed to these changes, but it'll pass. Yes, new medics will come into the field, and they will never have gotten XP from healing people's pets, and they will be completely fine with it.
All you need to make excellent xp in the field is a carbineer or pistoleer. Tell them to go nuts with their specials. Find some decent mobs and you'll be making huge amounts of xp. Its not that hard.
