Thread: Its unwise to do my job?

If I'm covert, and I see an Overt person getting attacked, it was his choice to go overt. It is not my place to help him there for in a way, griefing the other players by healing, yet being un-attackable. That is why we have limited restrictions on same faction healing.
So, what about the Jedi Knights that are perma-Overt (or should I say perma-Special Forces) who can't exactly choose to go on leave?
One of my main gripes is that if I go on some PvE with my guild, I first have to go Combatant to heal them (there is no way all of them are going to remember to go On Leave), and then I have to go SF just to heal my guild's Jedi Knight, even if we aren't doing anything GCW related. This is just a pain to deal with, and I'm not going let them die just because of their own stupidity.
I don't mind being attackable if I heal an Overt/SF, I just don't want to be killed on the way to healing the person.

Jedi are Jedi....and I would rather not discuss them in this thread, because they have their own rules they have to play by; which they knew about before they started. It doesn't directly affect you. As long as you aren't a jedi you should not complain much about it. Plus Jedi can handle themselve once they are Knights.
As far as PVE w/ your guild goes, it doesn't take long to go from Combatant to On-leave...and vice-versa. Fly to Rori (rebel) or Dantooine (imp) before you go anywhere. Make sure your guild understands that if they are not on leave/combatant (which ever you perfer) you can't help them. I almost bet you that they won't be stupid after they "forget" once.

The only story-lined explanation that I can think of is this:
Imperial Recruiter: "Hello, civilian! I have noticed that you have been healing a large number of people today! Rather generous of you, since I do not see money exchanging hands very often. What makes you so generous? I surely hope that you are not aiding the Rebellion in any way...."
Novice Medic: "No, sir. I do not have any opinion of the Rebellion nor the Empire, for good or for bad. I am simply trying to make a few credits, while practicing what I truly enjoy the most. I enjoy creating order where there is chaos."
Imperial Recruiter: "Let's go have a talk at the cantina. I'll buy you a drink...."
And he is never to be seen again.
It might go something like that, but I still believe that there should also be civilian-controlled planets on some worlds, which would allow medics to heal any players regardless of faction or status therein.
Just a CM's opinion, not of NOVA.

Well, my wife, who just started playing did pick a side, thankfully, but it's going to take her a heck of a lot longer to get master now.
I see this as promoting tumbling to master, more than anything. On Shadowfire, you can rarely find a doc in a med center for healing..where they are supposed to be!
Now it will be even harder.
What I can't understand is yuou can't heal someone, in a med center of opposite faction or Special Forces, as a combatant BUT the already mastered, rich Doctors can still buff people to make they super uber..this makes no sense to me whatsoever.
My wife will continue to play, ATK, it will just take a lot longer now to get where she wanted to go, while the Master Docs can still rake in the big bucks with buffs.
I can'targue this, because I have the same feelings you do (about monkeys). I mean your right, it will take a while to get XP Legitimately, but it also protects you from getting ganked. Not realizing you have a TEF is the hardest thing for new players (And Vetrans) to let go.I don't know how many posts I have read on healers getting a TEF and then ganked "For no reason", just because they unknowingly healed an Overt.
But the overall goal was to balance out the GCW and PVP. Yes, after seeing different views from everyone, medics and healers took the biggest hit. However, I still stand behindwhat I've been saying all along. The changes made the game better. Sure the system could be tweaked, but overall, I'm happy with the changes.
Now....about your "Docs should be in the med center for healing...where they are suppose to be" comment, I can argue this all day, night, and in my sleep. But I wont. I will however educate you on how it really is.
The Vast majority of Docs do not buff (outside guilds or friends), dispite popular belief. While "we" don't hang out in Med centers, we don't have to. "We" serve a far greater purpose in this game thanjusthealing andbuffing. And I personally refuse to sit in a Medcenter taking sh!t from little noobs that don't tip. If you want me, I'll be in the field....killing stuff, and healing my group. And while I can't speak for everyone, I can bet 95% of the Doc Playerbase can agree to that.
The only reason I said that was not speaking that docs should be there (med centers)but when they are there, they should be healing..not ignoring people being healed so they can tumble. These are ATK people, carrying on conversations, ignoring patients.
Also, as to med centers being used in general, what happened to the early days when I could count on going to Coronet or Theed and always seeing a doc? There were usually 2 or 3 overnight and during the day, it was full. Now empty or no one willing to heal.
Now, you may say Player Cities killed that, but they aren't there either.
To give you an idea how much this service is needed again..my wife's character was at the MO last Monday night from 3am est to 7am est and was atk..she earned 250k in tips.
Last night, even with the GCW changes and only healing like factioned players, she earned 120k because there never is anyone around to heal. Us vets are makingthis game harder and harder for new people..where are they told to go for healing? Med centers-that's what every document says-game guide wise.
Do I expect masters to be there healing, heck no!but when people want to master by tumbling afk or atk while ignoring people needing treatment, I think that is wrong.
The people I was saying should be at the med centers were the people needing xp, not established doc. They used to be there for the first year of this game, why all the shortcuts to a profession they never truly "mastered"
I hope that makes sense. I do like your explanation of how this really fits into the GCW too.

Those are not "doctors".....Heck I don't even classify them as healers....Those people are the ones that are in it to try and make a profit from buffs while doing nothing else. What they fail to realize is that there is far more to being an actually healer then buffs can posions / disease.

Yes I miss those days just as much as other Docs, Medics, and CM's. But the fact of the matter is people don't tip (Generally speak, people do tip sometimes), and there is nothing for us to do. While I don't like the fact that any of "our" (Medic, CM, & Doc) can be mastered while AFK, or using Monkeys.....I don't blame people that do it. I will never support it, but I don't blame them. Who really wants to waste resources on people that don't tip...Heck the only real reason I did so was because 1. I've done it before, and 2. I was established enough with resources to actually waste them on people, and afford not to get tipped.
But now the way of AFK has destroy Leveling for 90% of the professions in this game. /shrug

I believe it. On good days, I would earn that much in about 2-3 hours...and that was just from healing wounds. I can't argue that, because that is how I leveled up. I was just lucky to be on a server were some people knew me, and the others tipped well

Yea, we Vets are hurting new players. Outrages inflation, bad advice, bad macros, no group hunts....yeah we definantly set the tone for new players. And its a shame that the new players listen to the crap some people say.....Grinding Monkeys, and waste resources on ABEC's.....It is a shame.
Do I expect masters to be there healing, heck no!but when people want to master by tumbling afk or atk while ignoring people needing treatment, I think that is wrong.
Yup I agree. But it's also "wrong" to say goto a doctor for buffs....or seek a CM to do poisons and disease. While leaving Medics to pick up the slack elsewhere, because no one wants to put their foot down and say "HEY!! I can do more then Buff or Throw Pos / Dis." But what do I know. /shrug
The people I was saying should be at the med centers were the people needing xp, not established doc. They used to be there for the first year of this game, why all the shortcuts to a profession they never truly "mastered"
Question is "Why Not?" The game mechanics allow it...so why waste time doing it Legit? I dunno, I wish more people would take healing seriously, but until SOE lay's the smack down, that won't happen. But even Docs should go back to their Roots sometimes. Afterall we do more then just buff.
I hope that makes sense. I do like your explanation of how this really fits into the GCW too.
Yup perfect sense.
Thanks, I'm trying to make it as simple as possible for those that haven't really been following the changes.

In a war POW's are given basic medical attention....you can heal somebody of the 'opposing faction' in RL. When they're shooting at you....no. After the battle, (If they aren't dead, and once you subdue them).......yes.
This isn't RL, and there are no POW's in this game. While that would be a cool feature, I'm still going to stick with what I've been saying. If you want to heal pick a side.
By doing so you create a healer that can not be touched. The opt out feature is Special Force....while you are in this "mode" you can heal anyone except other factions. It's really as simple as getting use to the new system, and playing it. I firmly believe, and it's been said before, SOE is not going to change the rules.

But of course if you join the rebs or imps you will become a factional only healer.
