Won´t the tumle-to standing exploit dissappear when they change the combat system? (making the special moves shorten the bar temprarily rather than making healable damage).

Also, 5 star

Hmm... It's funny that you should mention the flame pet exploit. Just this evening I was in the med center healing patients when a player came in and asked a commando to flame his pet. I didn't think much of it at the time until I watched what was happening.

The commando did in fact cause massive wounds to the health pool of the pet. The wierd thing is, neither the pet's owner nor the pet where aggro towards the commando issuing the damage. As a matter of fact, the owner of the pet was sitting down. Even wierder still, the commando just appeared to be standing there pointing the flame thrower. There were none of the usual sounds and graphics one would normally see during combat.

So, I am under the conclusion that some sort of exploit was being used just to damage the pet, let alone what you are referring to Zarlor; being able to heal the wounds of said animal. Have any of you encountered this phenomenon?

For the tumbling issue, how about joining up with the three entertainer correspondants and try to get the DEVs to recognize that unattended gamplay is a bad thing for any game. They have made it a bannable offense if you use third party software, but officially encouraged it using the in game macro system. That's wrong.

Ifthe tumbler is there pressing the tumblebutton and the medic is there pressing the heal button, that's a very easy and boring but not exacty exploitive way of gaining xp. If one or both create macros for this and go to work or school, that indeed comes close to exploiting the system.

Oh, they recognize that, alright. The problem comes in finding ways to discourage it without completely crippling the rest of us from using Macros in ways that are very, very useful.

Unattended gameplay is definitely frowned upon. In fact the addition of the pop-up box on surveying was intended to be something of a hindrance to the macro-surveyor, or at least provide some incentive to /sample at the keyboard. We all know there are ways around that, but it shows the kinds of things they'd like to do to discourage AFK play.

But no matter what you do when someone wants to grind something, they'll grind it. Period. Even if it means using an external macro program and making sure your computer screen is up nearby so you can watch it with some regularity to see if someone is checking up on you. It's just the nature of of gamers. The only way to stop it would be to require a sweeping change to the social values of those folks who do that. ANd we all know that is not going to happen.

I have seen CSRs asking afk tumblers "are you there?"

I ahve heard rumors, and have got a few flamy PMs from AFK tumblers, claiming that CSRs have booted them offline while AFK tumbling.

I dunno if it is true or not, but tumble / petflaming is definitely not intended gameplay.

To JediKnightMK

it was most likely that the commando has a slow flamethrower ... once somone is "on fire" no further combat is really needed for a pet/person to keep burning the flame 1 special that a commando can take almost 30 seconds to recharge with some flamethrowers

The tumble/healing "exploit" is also used by scouts to grind survival XP by giving themselves something to heal in camps.

IMHO it inconveniences the player too much to really count as an exploit, and for medics it stands in because there's no "shoot self in foot" command.

But this won't be relevant after the combat balance goes through. One of the changes is that special moves will briefly reduce a HAM pool's maximum rather than inflict actual damage. So tumbling will provide nothing to heal.

Might as well classify Healing entertainers an exploit.. they hit florishes more often... more HAM drain, we heal. Guess thats an exploit then? Similar to Tumble-to-Stand.

/sarcasism

Anyway, there is no reason to use the Tumble-To-Standing... just hang around a PvP spot and heal wounds. Plus more fun!

I remember that it used to take a while to Master Medic. For the first month or so hitting Master Medic took some doing, and I'd like to see it return to that.

Of course having a CM disease a pet is almost like the CM diseasing another person just more or less convient depending how you see it. As for me, I would have to say that its more fun to sit in a heavily faction oriented city and have a CM from the other faction come to town with AE disease packs in hand. Lots of XP to had :-D

The devs like to make a line between "exploit" and "not as intended."

Tumbling is not as intended. You can do it all you want, but they will be looking for ways to stop it with in-game features / mechanics. (Both tumble and entertainer healing would be affected by new HAM system, when it goes past just combat systems).

An Exploit will get you warned or banned. Tumbling is not an exploit... just cheesy and lame.

Expect all the fast tracks for all professiosn to get closed up. It is supposed to take far longer then 1 day to master any profession, forget about hours.

Ever walk in a cantina and see a cm diseasing peopl so they can get entertainer xp? if it works for them then medics could do this as well. ending the pet xp would only take it to a different location(the middle of your favorite npc cantina). so be careful what you wish for
