The GCW change screw with Novice Medics.

I was sitting in the Cantina, and sometimes in the Medcenter during the day, and in 9 cases out of 10I got the following messages:

1. It would be unwise to heal such a patient
2. To heal this patient you need to declare

The total of people I could help today was extremely few.

Please, I am a MEDIC... I dont care about factions when im sitting in the medcenter. I am there to help people.

If Lord Vader walks in and say "Hey, heal me"... would it be unwise to heal him???

Besides that, I also have an annoying sig that looks like part of the post.

Yeah, it'll be quite the adjustment. I've already noticed a significant drop in the number of eligible patients even as my Imperial character sits in Empire-controlled Theed and Mos Eisley. There are so many Rebel combatants runnin' around, and many pare past patients of mine who know me as a healer. I guess I can't really heal them anymore.

Yeah they are really making you pick a side. The only thing i see that would be an issue is a new charcter that starts as a medic. It maybe tough for them to find enough civillians to heal. Maybe the tutorial/helper droid should advise them to get the 200 imperal/rebel faction points so they can expand the amount of people they can heal. I know today a civillian medic was getting discourged not being able to heal patients when they came into the Coronet Med Centre.

I realy object to this change.

Medics and docs sould be able to heal anyone!

I could understand, if enhancment being fraction specific, but healing!

In RL doctors treat everyone, they have a higher calling.

Even on the battlefield, enemy combatants are treated by medics.

so why should SWG be different.

Actually I don't think it's as simple as that. Choosing a faction makes you agree to take part in the GCW. Unless you are "On Leave" status at all times, being the same as Neutral, you can and will be attackable by opposing faction NPC's or Players. I don't want to have to worry about getting attacked around every corner. I have friends on both sides, and I have enemies on both sides.

Yes, but it has been said by the Devs many times friends in the current system wont be your "friends" with the new system. It is as simple as picking a side.

Then the Devs have made me unable to perform the profession that I have had for over 18 months. Maybe they trying to drive away veteran players, and they're doing a great job at it.

MyT_Chicken, you obviously fail to grip that people with other goals than your own play this game.

I am a medic. Not a marksman, brawler or whatever.

I am a civilian. I do not care who's in charge, im only trying to do my job.

Why should I sign up as an imperial soldier or a rebel guerilla as a medic?

Yes it is a little unrealistic that you can heal everybody. But by having it this way it closes off all kinds of loop wholes in regards to who can attack who. This new system is far better than the old TEF system. Do you want to go back to TEF gank squads ? I sure don't.

I don't think thats the case at all. If you are imperial you need to heal only imperials plain and simple. Why would you help out Rebels? They are the "bad guys" or vice-versa. You will still be friends with members of the opposite faction, but you won't be able to help them as effectively as before this change...Its a fact of war.

We are in a Galactic Civil War. Period....Pick a side that suits you, and have at healing all the people you want. As long as they are of the same faction (with certain restrictions). Or got Civilian and have at with certain restrictions. No one said change was an easy thing to get through, but I sure hated buffing an overt Rebel, and then getting gimped by 20 jedi all because of a TEF.

Firstly it has nothing to do at all with how I play, or what my goals are, not even remotely close.

Special forces..(pvp enabled)

Can NOT heal members of an opposing faction...(except those on leave)

Can heal special forces,Combatants of the same faction

Can heal "on-leave" players of any faction

Can heal civilians...

Combatants..(non pvp...but will still be attacked by imp/reb npc's,dependant on faction side)

Can NOT heal members of an opposing faction (except those on leave)

Can NOT heal special forces players of the same faction (pvp enabled)

Can heal combatants of the SAME faction

Can heal "on-leave" players of any faction

Can heal civilians

On-leave (non pvp.... and will not be attacked by imp/reb npc's..dependant on faction)

Can NOT heal players who are special forces or combatant enabled

Can heal "on-leave" players of any faction

Can heal Civilians

Civilians...(also known as neutral)

Can NOT heal players who are special forces or combatant enabled

Can heal "on-leave " players of any faction

Can heal civilians......

This also applies to rezzing people....so beware!!!

None of this applies to buffing people....you can still buff whoever you like

The non-faction-specific wound healing idea DID sound pretty good to me until I thought about it more. As for me, I would usually heal anybody that walked in the medical center or cantina. As a doctor I figured that that's what I should do, especially since the game mechanics already prevented me from heal overt members of the opposite faction. But now that they're stressing the no-more-covert status and really choosing a side, then it is rather traitorous to heal someone of the opposing faction. In a real war, sure you heal guys from the enemy's side. But then they are put in prison or labor camp, and NOT back out in the field. I assume no such prisons will exist in this game, so if you heal a guy of the opposing faction, you're essentially sending him back to the battlefield. Especially now that people clone into on-leave status, I figure that's going to happen a lot. They die - go on-leave - you heal - they run back out to kill more of your faction's NPCs or players.

At least with the buffing they don't make you jump through so many hoops. YES, it does make sense that you should only buff people on the same side as you. But if the developers change it so that you can only buff people of your faction, what's gonna stop 'em from going on leave, getting your buff, then running out and changing to combatant or special forces on the fly? YOU. Unfortunately, you can't always tell who's of the opposing faction.

I can't think of a good solution. Putting a longer timer between shifting between on-leave, combatant, or special forces solves these problems but introduces new ones.
