Thread: Should a BH be able to pursue a Jedi into space?
I wonder if I'm the only person who'd like to see a system where a jedi fleeing a BH could launch into space, and the BH could pursue them. I know a lot of folks wouldn't like that because there doesn't seem to be much PvP in space going on, and I'm sure the coding mechanics for allowing a jedi to launch in combat would be difficult, but it still seems like a cool idea to me.
Sensor suites could be added to player ships to assist the BH in tracking his mark through space, or perhaps some kind of tracking device certification for the BH.
I know the idea needs a lot more thought and fine tuning, but it just seems wrong to me that a BH can track a jedi anywhere in the galaxy (except Kashyyyk of course) but can't find a jedi hiding in space. If it could be implemented, though, it could be a great way to add some content to BH vs. Jedi and to space gameplay.
Just my two credits worth...

Although to stop Jedi pilots getting ambushed, while say fighting the Corvette, I'd think it would be fair that they'd get some early warning proximity system that responds to tracking driods, much as ship systems respond to missile locks.
I'm imagining Kashyyyk space being littered with BH ships all lying in wait for their mark to pass by.
Would you accept Jedi getting more starship skills and bonuses than a non-Jedi? If not, then this idea is a non-starter.
He did, and beat me
Not all of us Jedi are `leet speaking jerks who show off in Cnet.

For this to happen, Jedi skills would have to work in space (and be expanded). For a film reference, the Death Star run and Obi saying "Use the force Luke", instead of his targetting computer.

With those specific examples in mind, I don't think it's that big a difference.
1) Telepathic communication (obiwan to luke in ep4, luke to leia and Vader to Luke in ep5). That doesn't mean anything to space combat, it's like using a /tell
2) Luke directing the torpedo's into the Death Star exhaust port: This is a simple matter of "force push", and would only be applicable to influence missiles in JTL. I.e. The Jedi can use a missile "buff", i.e. a temporary skill mod to thier missile accuracy, and similarly a "debuff", or a temporary negative skill mod to the BH's missile skill, which would be the effect of pushing the missiles away from the ship slightly.
3) Obi-wan Vs Jango in Geonosis space: This shows that even a Jedi can't do anything about a Blaster enabled dogfight type situation, which means Jedi's and normals are on a level playing field when it's just guns vs guns. Obiwan survived that fight simply by being a cunning pilot; R4 helped him more than the force did in that situation!
4) Obiwan and Anakin getting to Grevious's ship: This is another example of how Jedi are constrained in space. That first sequence of Ep3, Obiwan and Anakin were doing some fancy flying, but apart from increasing their reactions (which you just can't translate into a player buff), use of the force didn't play a part. If they were really going to or were able to use the force, then Obiwan could have used force push to get those "Buzz Droids" off his ship-hull. (Although I do see the contradiction between #4 and #2).

For a few reasons.... First of all, it would require major coding changes since the ground game isn't tied to space at all right now... and you know what major coding changes mean.....
Second, we've seen people escape from a pursuing group by going up in space in the movies. Yeah, some minor changes could be made to the ground game to make this more fun and more "starwarsy"
And more on the first point, "jedi" and "bounty hunter" don't exist in space, you're all just pilots, and it's based on skill (yours, not your characters) and just because someone is a CL 80 on the ground, doesn't mean they're a good pilot, there would be no way to ensure that the fight is fair in space (an ace BH taking on a 1000 jedi pilot would just have SO much to brag about, huh?
I think they should, that way jedi cannot hide in space and plus BH's used to attack jedi in space in the movies, they definitely weren't limited to the ground.
Ok first off this is from a jedi
I love this idea but I don't think that jedi need an advantage in space too. The whole point of space is that it is twich based and skill focused. I don't want a handicap. The only thing I would add to this is that BH approaching a mark in space should be conned red from the start. This is because the main problem with space PvP is that a spacebomb is still an i win button. It would make sense that as the BH approached your ship would sense the weapons locked on... then may the best man ... or Fish win.
Who else sees the potential for really cool dogfights between KSE Firesprays and Jedi Starfighters after this ![]()
